Directive 8020 at Gamescom 2025
Catch Up with the Gamescom Summary Recap
[p]We’ve wrapped everything into a Gamescom 2025 Recap, available now. Expect behind-the-scenes scares, developer insights, and a closer look at the choices—and consequences—players experienced at the show.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Take a deep dive into this year's event…

Tuesday - Opening the Airlock with NVIDIA
[p]Gamescom 2025 began with a moment we’ve been looking forward to: showcasing Directive 8020 alongside NVIDIA. We were really excited to show how the game takes advantage of cutting-edge technology—DLSS with multi-frame generation, DLSS Super Resolution, ray tracing with indirect lighting, and full path tracing—helping every shadow, corridor and flicker of movement aboard the Cassiopeia feel that little bit more alive…[/p][p][/p]
Wednesday & Thursday – First Contact with the Prologue
[p]Across these two days, around 100 members of the press and content creators stepped aboard the Cassiopeia for a curated look at the prologue.[/p][p]In this demo they got hands-on playing as sleep technician Carter, who, alongside fellow sleep tech Simms discovers a mysterious hull impact. It’s up to them to explore the ship, repair the damage and return inside the Cassiopeia. However, as you would expect from a Dark Pictures game, this does not go to plan…[/p][p]Check out the 13 Minutes of Gameplay that we revealed at Gamescom:[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Your decisions can impact each crewmates survival and this demo showcases an early choice which can have dire consequences.   [/p][p]Early previews from outlets like PlayStation Corner, GamesRadar, and TheGamer described the experience as tense and oppressive, noting how the threat aboard the ship creeps closer in ways they didn’t always expect. They also had particular praise for the way the 'Turning Points' system lets players revisit key decisions and explore all the branches of the story.[/p][carousel][/carousel][p]The demo gave hands-on access to the new feature which enables you to rewind your choices, which was described by the Creative Director’s interview with PCGamer as:[/p][p]"The Turning Point system is more for explorer players who want to achieve everything," Will Doyle says. "The Turning Point screen becomes like a sticker book where you're literally going to try and fill it all in. We offer hints for unlocking different branches on the Turning Point screen—sometimes, you need slightly arcane ways to unlock them. It's not as simple as just rewinding to a choice. You have to have made a choice previously, or a character's trait has to be at a certain level to get this one."[/p][p][/p][p]Will also highlighted in an interview with Tech Radar how you can play in the classic Dark Pictures mode rather than using Turning Points:  [/p][p]"At the same time, for the other group of players, we're saying, if you do want to live and die by your choices, play on survival mode. We put in the mode for you that removes the ability to rewind and you get an achievement for completing the game in that mode. And then at the end of that mode, when you get to the end of the story, you can turn it on…" [/p][p][/p][p]Directive 8020 releases 2026, add it to your wishlist today —because what you’ve seen so far is only the beginning.[/p]
WISHLIST NOW
[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
