FBC: Firebreak Preview — Finding The Synergy For Everyone

Remedy Entertainment gained a lot of confidence with the release of 2019’s Control. Now, the studio has pulled back the curtain on its next entry—their first multiplayer game—FBC: Firebreak. CGMagazine attended a digital preview showcasing the game’s gameplay and the blueprints that inspired Remedy’s first multiplayer project, coinciding with the developer’s 30th anniversary. Communications director Thomas Puha, game director Mike Kayatta and community manager Julius Fondem provided a detailed breakdown of the development of FBC: Firebreak.

FBC: Firebreak was described as an online co-op FPS designed for three players, set within a mysterious federal agency under assault by extradimensional forces in the Control universe. Players battle through hordes of reality-warping anomalies and otherworldly monsters known as the Hiss. Missions take players back to the main stage of Control, called the Oldest House, where they customize gear and level up to combat the ever-growing Hiss... Read more

Remedy Releases “Community First Look” For FBC: Firebreak

Remedy Entertainment has released an in-depth “Community First Look” for FBC: Firebreak, the recently announced multiplayer title, giving first details on the game’s setting, gameplay, and development.

Announced during the recent Xbox Partner Preview, FBC: Firebreak is Remedy’s first-ever multiplayer game and is set in the same universe as 2019’s Control. It was a bit of a surprise announcement, as back in May, there was a report that Remedy’s multiplayer game, then called Codename Condor, was cancelled. Throughout the video, you can see a bit of new gameplay, with a lot of details on Remedy’s design process and how Firebreak came about.

Firebreak is a cooperative three-player first-person shooter where players fight off the invasion of the supernatural entity known as The Hiss. The interdimensional beings were the primary threat in Control, but this time, you’re playing as part of a new unit organized to combat it.... Read more

Paranatural pandemonium and cooperative chaos

FBC: Firebreak is a stand-alone experience set within a mysterious federal agency (which you might know from our earlier game, Control) where you work as a team of versatile first responders. You’ll come face to face with otherworldly monsters and paranatural hot zones where you will defuse strange and dangerous crises at their source.

You play as an ordinary person squaring off against extraordinary threats which is why you will need the right equipment. You and your team will be armed with a suite of guns, grenades, handcrafted tools, and even paranatural objects like a garden gnome that summons a lightning storm. Don’t worry, it’s all completely according to protocol.

We know that sometimes you just want to jump into a session with some friends, wreak havoc, and get out. That’s what FBC: Firebreak is about. It's quick, it’s action-packed, it’s WTF thrills in a unique world, designed to be enjoyed with your friends or complete strangers.

We’re very excited to be engaging directly with the Steam community again! This is just the start for FBC: Firebreak and we’ll have a lot more to share in 2025. If you want to discuss FBC: Firebreak, and be part of the Remedy community, you can do it here on Steam or over on our official Discord server.
