In their first set of financial results since issuing a profit warning and switching CEOs earlier this month, Remedy have revealed that they're moving resources away from FBC: Firebreak amid a "sense of urgency", and aiming to rely on established series Alan Wake and Control delivering hits which'll shore up their commercial fortunes in the long-term.

Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala has stepped down from his position at the Alan Wake/Control development studio and will be replaced immediately.

The announcement from Remedy Entertainment doesn’t include reasoning surrounding the sudden exit, but the statement reveals that both Tero Virtala and the Board of Directors of the company have mutually agreed on the exit, and Virtala will step down immediately.

While no reason has been given, Remedy Entertainment’s most recent release and spin-off of Control, FBC: Firebreak, has recently reported heavy underperformance despite the recent overhaul update, Breakpoint. A recent “profit warning” post on Remedy Entertainment’s official site has shown an adjustment on “its 2025 outlook by lowering its guidance on operating profit,” and the new outlook suggested “operating profit (EBIT) to be negative and below the previous year.”
