Project Scandinavia Refresh

Today, we're delighted to share with you a little more information about a project we have been working on for a while, the Scandinavia DLC Refresh. We have hinted at its existence during our recent Special Christmas 2024 Live Stream, so we thought we may just as well explain what it is all about. The motivation for starting this project was to bring the existing Scandinavia DLC content closer to our current standards, so that when you pass through it on the way to the new region covered by Nordic Horizons DLC, the difference is not too abrupt.

As one of our most popular and oldest expansions for ETS2, with over 5 million copies sold, we wanted to refresh the Scandinavia DLC to bring the region closer in quality with our newer additions. The ambition is not a total rework, but we aim for an extensive touch up, a “reskin” of the region with updated textures and technology. This will create a smoother driving transition for players travelling between the Scandinavia DLC and our upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC.

What changes and additions are coming with this project? Our rework team is hard at work reskinning the region with updated materials for vegetation, road textures, various assets, and more. We are also creating and adding a few new rest stops and fuel stations along the road network, along with new and updated road junctions.

While some places will only receive cosmetic improvements, some places will be reworked from ground up. Want an example? We are excited to share that the team will be reworking the capital city of Denmark, Copenhagen! As with previous rework projects, the older version of the city will be removed and rebuilt from scratch. This is undoubtedly a significant task for the team, but the end result should be well worth the time and effort!

We look forward to sharing more information and screenshots from our progress of refreshing the Scandinavia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator, which will ultimately come as a free update to all owners of this map expansion. Keep an eye on our official Social Media Channels for the latest news on all our upcoming projects for both ETS2 and ATS! Until then, keep on truckin'.

SCS On The Road: IAA 2024

Today, we're excited to share our experience attending this year's International Automobile Exhibition (IAA), hosted at the Hannover Messe venue in Hannover, Germany. This event is one of the most important on the calendar for truck manufacturers worldwide and serves as the leading platform for logistics, commercial vehicles, and the transport sector to showcase their products, innovations and ideas to the world.

This year, we were honoured to have our simulation titles and 4D motion rigs featured across the exhibition floor, thanks to our amazing partners. This, of course, would not have been possible without the hard work of our colleagues at SCS Software, who transported all the necessary gear, including our 4D motion simulators (even the one usually kept in our office), from Prague to Hannover. Join Mark, Nemiro, and Oscar in this special On The Road Vlog as they travel to IAA and share their experiences from the show.

Naturally, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to speak with some of our hard-working partners, including Kögel Trailer, Wielton Group, and Trailer Dynamics, all of whom are featured in this special vlog. We even had the awesome opportunity to be invited to talk with Krone on the Denkfabrik stage. And, of course, we had to showcase some of the amazing trucks, trailers, and more found across the show floor.

Whilst this was an incredibly busy time for us all, we are very proud of how recognised our simulation titles have become in the real-world automotive industry. A huge thank you goes out to all of our partners for allowing us to be a part of their exhibits and booths, and we look forward to 2026 when IAA TRANSPORTATION returns to Hannover.

Nordic Horizons: Skellefteå

Hello, #BestCommunityEver! Fancy some Nordic Horizons news? Well, we have some right here for you. Today, we would like to show you the city of Skellefteå, which is currently being developed for this upcoming Euro Truck Simulator 2 map expansion.

Skellefteå is located near the northeastern coast of Sweden and is one of the highlights of Swedish Lapland. The city's population is more than 36,000 citizens. Its nickname is Guldstaden which means "gold town" because of Skellefteå's rich industrial and mining history, which was especially focused on gold.

As is always the case with cities we build for our map expansions, you will find plenty of landmark buildings inspired by their real-world counterparts in Skellefteå. These include several office buildings, a massive parking structure adorned with the Skellefteå logo, a unique hotel constructed entirely of wood, and alchemical signs symbolizing different materials displayed along a large gangway in the industrial area.

Naturally, you will also come across plenty of job opportunities in the local industries. We have mentioned the rich industrial history of the city, and that is why we just couldn't leave out the local steelworks company.

Other than that, truckers can pick up cargo in Skellefteå's logistics depot, building materials store, heavy machinery depot, and even a brand-new, yet-to-be-announced depot - but we won't spoil all the surprises for you now!

We hope you have enjoyed this little sneak peek into this upcoming map expansion for ETS2. If you are excited about the Nordic Horizons DLC, make sure to add it to your Steam Wishlist! Stay tuned for more updates by following us on our TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube. And be safe on the road!

SCS On The Road: Elmia Lastbil

Today we're happy to share a new episode in our SCS On The Road series! In this video, we're taking you back to the summertime when we had the opportunity to attend Elmia Lastbil, an international trade fair for the transport and trucking industry hosted in Jönköping, Sweden. In collaboration with Scania Trucks, we were able to share the experience of our 4D Motion Simulator and offer a virtual test drive of their Scania S BEV at our virtual 1:1 recreation of the Scania Test Center located in Södertälje with attendees at the show.

Join Mark as he chats with James Cotino, Exhibit Unit Specialist at Scania Group and shows you around one of the largest haulage and transport events in the Nordic Region. The show was well attended with over 400 exhibitors plus an incredible array and variety of trucks and trailers from all over Europe. We were also lucky enough to check out the Nordic Trophy, which is an event where custom show trucks from all over the Nordic region come together to be judged in hopes of winning the title. If you love custom trucks, airbrushed paint jobs and more, you won't want to miss this!

We'd like to once again thank our partners at Scania for allowing us the opportunity to collaborate with them at their booth for this event. We really had a fantastic time and enjoyed giving attendees from across the world the opportunity to virtually test drive the Scania S BEV in Euro Truck Simulator 2. We also hope you enjoyed watching this recap! If you did, consider leaving a like or a comment under the video on YouTube. Until next time, keep on truckin'.
