Nordic Horizons: Trondheim + BIG in Nordic Horizons

[p]In today's blog, we're excited to share another preview from the Nordic Horizons DLC with our amazing #BestCommunityEver! This time, we're heading to the stunning city of Trondheim to explore its beauty and check out the new oversized cargo routes available for truckers owning the Special Transport DLC.
[/p][p][/p][p]On the banks of the Trondheimsfjord lies the charming city of Trondheim, with over a thousand years of history dating back to the Viking Age, when it was founded by Olav Tryggvason in 997. If you're familiar with Trondheim, you'll likely recognize several of these in-game locations our map designers have recreated with attention to detail.
[/p][p][/p][p]In the northern part of Trondheim, you'll find a unique two-storey roundabout along the Rv706, which spans both the surface and an underground level, connecting to a tunnel leading into the city center. Nearby, we've recreated a shopping mall, the town hall, and the Leangen train station, all positioned close together just as they are in reality.

[/p][p]Continuing along the Rv706, you'll reach the city's port area, home to another historic landmark: the Dora submarine pens. Right next to them is the Trondheim Maritime Center and a local factory. From this area, you can also see the popular local waterfront sauna and cultural venue - everything faithfully recreated to mirror the real-life locations.

[/p][p]We've also paid attention to smaller, yet distinctive architectural details that enhance the sense of place: the utilities near the port shaped like a submarine sail, and several sculptures along a nearby roundabout. Together, these elements aim to make you feel as if you're truly there.

[/p][p]Trondheim is a major land and sea transport link of Norway, connecting the more densely settled south with the far-northern regions. Because of that, you will find plenty of industries to deliver cargo to and from, including a supermarket, scrapyard, furniture factory, quarry, construction site, river port, and paper mill. At the last three mentioned depots, you will be able to experience the new dynamic cargo loading and unloading feature (loading at the river port, and unloading at the construction site and paper mill)!

[/p]
BIG in Nordic Horizons
[p]If you own the Special Transport DLC, which lets truckers haul oversized cargo, you'll want to know which routes are designated for these massive loads!
[/p][p][/p][p]In Nordic Horizons, drivers will be able to tackle five new routes, each carefully planned with escort vehicles and local police support to ensure smooth deliveries. Apart from the new routes, you will also be able to transport new cargoes - the Wind Turbine Blade and the Underground Loader. You can read more about these cargoes in the dedicated blog.
[/p][p][/p][p]The payoff is worth the challenge - these jobs offer extra rewards for your skill and effort. But don't underestimate them: even with escorts, manoeuvring oversized cargo through tight turns and tricky terrain is no easy feat. Think you have what it takes? Pick a job and prove your skill on these special routes: [/p][p]Jyväskylä to Vaasa (Finland) Kuopio to Kajaani (Finland) Oulu to Rovaniemi (Finland) Narvik to Kiruna (Norway to Sweden) Trondheim to Östersund (Norway to Sweden)

If you don't own this DLC and want to give these challenging jobs a try, you can buy the Special Transport DLC on Steam![/p][p]If you are looking forward to exploring this map expansion yourself, make sure to add the Nordic Horizons map expansion to your Steam Wishlist! Until next time, we will see you on the road![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Euro Truck Simulator 2: 1.57 Update Release

[p]We’re excited to share with our community that the 1.57 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now officially released! This free update brings new content, refreshed DLCs, quality of life improvements, and more. Let’s dive in and take a look at what’s in store.
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]
Before we take you through all the new features this update brings to the game, we would like to thank everyone who took part in the Open Beta and reported issues on our forum. This really helped us fine-tune the update and make it ready for the full update release.
[/p][p]Scandinavia Refresh
[/p][p][/p][p]Update 1.57 for ETS2 brings the long-awaited refresh for the Scandinavia DLC. Our team has embarked on an ambitious refresh of the Scandinavia map expansion to create and bring the region up to the quality standards of newer map content.[/p][p]Key improvements include:[/p]
  • [p]A full refresh of the region with updated textures, vegetation, and road assets, alongside new rest stops and fuel stations.[/p]
  • [p]A major overhaul of the road network: custom-designed junctions replacing old prefabs (notably around Denmark’s motorways and Sweden’s busy E-corridors).[/p]
  • [p]New map additions, including the brand-new cities of Aarhus in Denmark and Karlstad in Sweden, along with a completely rebuilt Copenhagen featuring modern infrastructure and landmark recreations to enrich the network and scenery, and much more for you to discover!

    [/p]
[p]This update is intended to ensure that when players cross through the Scandinavia region en route to the upcoming Nordic Horizons expansion, the visual and structural transition feels seamless and up-to-date.

[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]HDR Support
[/p][p]We are implementing HDR (High Dynamic Range) support in the game. HDR is a feature that enhances image quality, allowing players with HDR-compatible monitors or TVs to experience richer colours and improved contrast.[/p][p]Alongside HDR, we are also updating the brightness setup to give players more control over visual settings. This will include a dedicated setup screen where you can preview your brightness adjustments on actual in-game images, as well as an HDR Calibration feature, which lets you fine-tune the HDR effect using a simple slider.
[/p][p][/p][p]For players using HDR-compatible displays, the feature will be automatically enabled in the game, ensuring you get the best possible visual experience from the moment you start playing.
[/p][p]Cursor Navigation Enhancements[/p][p]We've also fine-tuned the cursor navigation experience. The cursor speed is now consistent across all screen resolutions, and the overall speed and control precision have been slightly increased when using a controller, making navigation smoother and more responsive.
[/p][p]Dynamic Cargo Loading and Unloading[/p][p]The long-awaited dynamic loading and unloading feature is debuting in Euro Truck Simulator 2, bringing even more immersion and realism to your trucking experience.
[/p][p][/p][p]Originally introduced in American Truck Simulator, this feature will now appear in selected custom and prefab depots across ETS2, starting with locations in the Nordic Horizons DLC and expanding to suitable depots throughout the base map, other map DLCs, and even a custom shipyard in Athens, Greece.
[/p][p][/p][p]For the initial rollout, logging trailers will be the first to benefit from this feature. Players hauling Logs, Large Tubes, or Iron Pipes will see material handlers or crawler excavators dynamically loading and unloading their cargo. Simply position your trailer in the designated area, and the process will start automatically, adding a satisfying touch of realism to every delivery.
[/p][p][/p][p]From sawmills and construction sites to steelworks and material stores, drivers will find plenty of opportunities to try out this new system. And this is just the beginning, our team plans to expand dynamic loading and unloading to more cargo types and locations in future updates.
[/p][p]More information about Dynamic Cargo Loading and Unloading can be found here.
[/p][p]Scania R/S SUPER, 770 V8 + Smart Dash
[/p][p]The Scania R & S series will receive a major overhaul in 1.57, introducing the newest SUPER engines (420–560 hp) and V8 powertrains (590, 660, 770 hp) alongside Opticruise G25, G33, and G38 transmissions.
[/p][p][/p][p]Inside, drivers can enjoy Scania’s new Smart Dash and Smart Dash Advanced interiors, available in several variants. On the outside, there are fresh customization options such as SUPER badges, sensor-equipped fenders, and official Scania SUPER and 770 paint jobs for both trucks and trailers.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Check out the Scania R & S Trucks Update blog to learn more.
[/p][p]Special Transport DLC Update
[/p][p]We have some thrilling new content for owners of the Special Transport DLC. This free update adds two massive new cargoes designed to push your driving precision and skill to the limit, perfect for those who love a real challenge on the road.
[/p][p]Wind Turbine Blade[/p][p]First up is the Wind Turbine Blade, an impressive 30-metre load that demands full control and focus. Hauled on a 4-axle steerable trailer, this heavy cargo will test even the most experienced drivers. You’ll find this contract available from Rostock to Berlin in Germany and, for those exploring the upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC, from Jyväskylä to Vaasa.
[/p][p][/p][p]Underground Loader
[/p][p][/p][p]The second addition, the Underground Loader, is a mining powerhouse that comes with serious weight and scale. Carried on a 6-axle low loader trailer, this job will challenge your ability to handle long and heavy loads, with routes available from Dortmund to Hannover and Narvik to Kiruna in Nordic Horizons.[/p][p][/p][p]You can find out more information in this blog.

[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]Krone Trailer Pack DLC Update[/p][p]The Krone Trailer Pack DLC is expanding with several new configurations and visual upgrades! This update introduces city versions of existing Krone trailers, each featuring steerable axles for improved manoeuvrability in tight urban environments.

New Additions Include:[/p]
  • [p]    Profi Liner City[/p]
  • [p]    Cool Liner City[/p]
  • [p]    Dry Liner City[/p]
  • [p]    Profi Liner HCT

    [/p]
[p]Additional Updates & Features[/p]

  • [p]    Profi Liner and Dry Liner both receive new 15m chassis and body variants[/p]
  • [p]    The Profi Liner building variant receives a new chassis with a steerable axle plus an additional new body design
    [/p]
[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]Reworked Players' Company Logos & Paint Jobs[/p][p]Last but not least, the update 1.57 refreshes your company identity with a new set of logos to choose from when creating or updating your profile. The classic designs were modernized to give every company a fresh but familiar look.
[/p][p][/p][p]The update also adds new customisation options for paint jobs - you can now choose your own colours using the RGB picker or select from preset combinations to create a look that perfectly fits your company’s identity.

[/p][p]You can read the full blog about Reworked Players' Company Logos & Paint Jobs here.[/p][p][/p][p]Adjustable Trailer Suspension Height

Adjusting your trailer height can make all the difference when hooking up or making a delivery, and in this update, we're introducing a new feature to help with exactly that. Adjustable Trailer Suspension Height lets you raise or lower your trailer as needed whilst on the road.

Much like the existing option for adjusting your truck’s suspension height, players can set up dedicated hotkeys in the settings to control the trailer suspension, giving you the flexibility to fine-tune the height whenever you need to. It’s a simple but practical addition that we hope you’ll find helpful![/p][p]Changelog[/p][p]Vehicles[/p]

Iceland: Meet the Team

[p]We're still busy developing the Iceland DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, and today, we would like you to meet some of our colleagues from the team that is putting this upcoming map expansion together, as they all have a short message for our #BestCommunityEver! [/p][p][/p][p]There are, of course, more people across the company who are contributing to the Iceland map expansion, but in this blog, we'd like to introduce you to six members of the map design team - part of a talented group of ten designers in total, led by Ivo and including two external colleagues.[/p][p][/p]
Ivo - Map Design Lead
[p][/p][p]"Iceland is my dream project. As a Map Lead, I was there at its beginning, and I am very happy that we can bring our players the unique landscape and a slightly different experience than in other parts of the map, with an emphasis on small roads and sparsely populated areas with majestic views. As a fan of Old Norse history, I have been interested in Iceland for a long time, and I am delighted when I can discover some of the places I know from Icelandic sagas. From this also comes the advantage that Icelandic is not as challenging for me as it is for my colleagues who are encountering it for the first time. Although Iceland is smaller in size, it is a very demanding challenge in terms of landscape construction, but my team and I are doing our best to convey its beauty to the players."
[/p]
Andrea
[p][/p][p]"Hi! My name is Andrea, and before Iceland, I was working on the Nordic Horizons DLC. It was quite a journey since it was my first project here, but I have learned so much throughout the whole production - not only about the map editor, but also real-life locations, traffic rules, etc. I'm so glad I can use all the experience for the beautiful scenery of Iceland. The nature there is truly breathtaking, and we will do our best to reproduce the ethereal atmosphere for you."
[/p]
Kirill
[p][/p][p]"I joined the SCS team in 2021, largely by chance, I would say. Before that, I was a huge fan of PC and console gaming, but I never thought I could also create beautiful video game worlds and be part of this mysterious world. It turns out I can, and it's incredibly exciting. I doubt there's another job as amazing as this one. I'm excited to have had the opportunity to work on Iceland - one of the most unique countries in the world, one that often doesn't even look like our planet. And when you can create something truly beautiful, inspiring, and unique for so many people around the world with your own hands, it's an incredible feeling. I'm surrounded by great people here, and we work in a fantastic office with everything we need for work. And all we have to do is create and do the best we can for our players."
[/p]
Johana
[p][/p][p]"I joined SCS in 2023 after finishing Art School, looking for a job where I can stay creative. I've always loved building things in PC games and exploring maps in RPGs, so to get to build small worlds for a living is really a treat. So far, I've worked on both Greece DLC and Nordic Horizons DLC - each very different, though both immensely fun! Now I'm excited to work on Iceland's very unique landscape, marvelling at the overall beauty, the abundance of rocks, and the lack of trees, hoping to put as many sheep as humanly possible into the map."
[/p]
Ashley
[p][/p][p]"At the end of 2022, I decided to follow my dream of working on a video game. Back then, it felt like a risk, since I had to leave my home city and enter an unknown territory, but now I know that it was the best decision of my life. I really enjoy building map areas knowing that players will get to explore and enjoy them. Personally, I like it the most when I can build more complicated roads with turns, elevations, hills, and mountains. Because of that, I am super happy that I get to work on Iceland even though at first its unique environment felt confusing to me. But after a while, I was able to orient myself, and now I enjoy the challenge. I am looking forward to the release, and I hope everyone will have a lot of fun playing it. Follow your dreams and keep on truckin'."
[/p]
Anis
[p]"I'm incredibly excited to see that each new DLC is another step forward, both for the company and for each of us personally. Iceland proves to be a wonderfully unique challenge, with its one-of-a-kind landscapes, plant life, and breathtaking sights - from towering mountains to countless waterfalls, from fjords to narrow, winding roads - where the experience of the entire team, across every department, was truly invaluable. Of course, Iceland isn't just about awe-inspiring scenery; its towns, settlements, and ports, harmoniously intertwined with nature, gave us the chance to fully capture the island's diversity while keeping it whole and cohesive. I can't wait for the moment we get to share this DLC with the community."

And that's it for today! We hope you are excited about this upcoming map expansion! Remember to support us by adding the Iceland DLC to your Steam wishlist. Don't forget to give our X/TwitterInstagramFacebookBluesky, and TikTok a follow as you'll receive updates about our games straight to your feed, or subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed! We look forward to sharing more with you in the future.[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Euro Truck Simulator 2's Nordic Horizons expansion finally delivers its cargo later this month

Start using maps to check out service stations in Scandinavia, as Euro Truck Simulator 2's Nordic Horizons expansion is set to release on November 27th.

This DLC was announced back in January 2024, and as it shuffles out of SCS Software's ever-busy DLC pipeline, it'll leave some coaches and a recently revealed trip to Ireland waiting in the traffic queue. The devs have also been doing plenty of cool existing area revamps.
