MID-SEASON UPDATE: TUTORIAL INTRODUCTION
Soldiers!
The Mid-Season Update is here in time for Hallowar and with it a new tutorial system to allow new and existing users to learn the ropes and be rewarded.

Get the Hallowar bloody bat skins and get up close and personal with your enemy. Enjoy better visibility in the heat of the battle and much more!

Keep reading to find out all about the update and the new tutorials below!
Tutorial Introduction
For this mid-season update one of our main focuses is the new user experience.

We are introducing a 3-layered tutorial system which is designed to take players, new and old, on a journey through Heroes & Generals’ many systems and mechanics.

Career Orders can be found on the right hand side of your soldier screen.
Our mission is to unveil the complexity of Heroes & Generals at a good pace and showcase the unique opportunities you have in the game, while not making them mandatory to follow.
Introduction Video
A new introduction video is shown to new players when launching the game for the first time. It’s a short and sweet 90 second video highlighting the unique aspects of Heroes & Generals and gives the new user a clear goal of reaching war mode.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]If you are curious about the video take a look here!
Tutorials

ACTION GAME CHANGES
• The amount of smoke that infantry guns produce has been decreased to help you to keep your eyes on the prize.
  • We also took a look at the blood splatter effect when you are hit and have tweaked it to never obscure the middle of your screen.
  • Enemy soldier headgear is now shown in the kill message.
  • AI Soldier difficulty has been increased in the Encounter gamemode.
STRATEGY ADDITIONS
• Players can now view the Strategy Map before unlocking the gamemode.
  • It is no longer possible to initiate a new battle immediately after losing one. Assault Teams on the losing side moving to the battlefield of the battle that just ended, will now retreat back to their previous location without suffering from retreat penalties.
  • The deploy cost increase after a war victory has been lowered from 5% to 4,75%
CLIENT ADDITIONS
• When making a purchase in the store a confirmation box will now appear to avoid misclicks.
  • Command points are now visible in the soldier purchase window.
  • Equipping a crate to a vehicle no longer unequips camo netting on armored vehicles or machine guns on infantry vehicles.
  • When a staged battle is found, you now see what city you are near on the RTS-Minimap and the battlefield is highlighted with a crosshair.

Tutorials and Intro to Career Orders
Soldiers!
“Change the line squad leader!”

“Just get a second character!”

“Do you even know how to play!”

Do these words sound familiar to you, or have you perhaps used them yourself? In our upcoming update, we are looking to remedy this with the introduction of Tutorials and Career Orders.
Soldiers!

Learning the basics!
Not everyone has the same amount of experience when it comes to shooter games. Some people have been playing shooters all their lives, while others are brand new to the genre. Not just that, Heroes & Generals is more than just firing your gun, there are many unique elements not found in other games.

We have our Fandom-page, our discord and other external sources where you can find information or ask others for help. They have a lot of information, but finding the right information takes some effort. We believe that having Tutorials and Career Orders available ingame will lower the point of entry for many, which is our goal with these features.
Tutorials versus Career Orders
The simplest way to explain the difference between Tutorials and Career orders, is that you read tutorials and you do career orders.

We currently have 28 Tutorials and 46 Career Orders ready to be completed, with the possibility of adding more in the future.
Career Orders
As some of you may remember, a while ago we removed the career options from the UI to make place for ‘something new’. Now, we can finally introduce what we have been working on!

The Career Orders are a set of simple objectives to complete. Equip a weapon, recruit another soldier, buy a vehicle and many others. Upon completion, every order gives a small reward (mostly credits and sometimes a booster).

In the image above, you may notice that one of the Orders has an icon that looks like a drill sergeants head, in the lower-right corner. When pressing this button, a short tutorial will open. More on that in the next chapter!
Tutorials
Tutorials come in two shapes. Some tutorials are triggered by certain actions of the player. The example below shows a tutorial which is triggered the first time you have 2 or more characters available in your roster and shows you how to swap between soldiers

Other tutorials can be started manually, by pressing the drill sergeant on Career Orders. In this example you get a short tutorial on how to equip a weapon. Some tutorials contain only 1 page, others contain several pages.

If you have already completed all tutorials, but want to refresh your memory, you can find all tutorials through our options menu! Simply press the cogwheel in the upper right corner of the Client. Go to Help and click on ‘Browse Tutorial’. Here you can find all our tutorials!

This and more will be available to you in our upcoming Mid-Season Update!

Developer Blog: 29th September 2022
Soldiers!
The Summer Holidays have come and passed, everyone is back at work and the number of Developer Blogs we bring out will increase again. In the past weeks, we have steadily been moving towards our next mid-season release. Many of our features have finished or are close to finishing and have entered the testing phase.

You can find more information on the work we have done, down below.
Developer Blogs
In the developer blogs we share all the tasks that we have completed in the past few weeks, which features are currently being tested, are still being worked on and of course all the bugs that we have squashed! We will end each developer blog with a short look at what we will be working on in the upcoming weeks.

We will not always be able to share all the details of our work. Some items are too far in the future to talk about already. Certain tasks contain internal information that we just cannot share. Every once in a while, we might be working on something we want to surprise you with! We will do our very best to be as transparent as we can be!

Be advised that not every feature that we have completed will be deployed in the upcoming release. Some features are part of larger updates that will be released further into the future.
Completed Cycle
• Increased AI accuracy to become more challenging

  • Reduced war-victory deploy cost increase from 5% to 4,75%
  • Changes to early player progression: Game-modes unlock at different levels
