WEEKLY UPDATE!! 9/1/24

It finally feels like I’m nearing the end of this update cycle! This week, I finalized the layout of the Shrouded Institute, now known as the Ebonwood Institute, as well as added in all the hidden goodies and treasures! I also wrote a few journal entries that can be discovered at different parts of the old school. Reading through them may recontextualize some of the areas within the institute… For better or worse.



The script is nearly done, but since it has much less spoken dialogue than Clover’s quest, I’m writing it while scripting the scenes to get a better feel for how I want it to play out. I’m getting rather close to finishing it, so with any luck, I should be able to get the scenario done by either this week or next! Then I just need to clean up a few smaller things here and there and I’ll be sending it to my testers!

Lastly, I have some new Bad Ending art to share, of Mila’s Feline Familiar Transformation.

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 8/25/24

Welcome back everyone! I’m happy to say that I just completed the scenario for Clover’s contract quest today. I played through the whole quest line and came out of it feeling pretty satisfied. I do need to tweak the difficulty a bit, as I felt that the battles were a bit too braindead, but as far as the difficult part of scripting all the scenes, that part is all done! It’s full steam ahead towards scripting the scenes for the second quest of this update cycle!

Additionally, I wanted to share a few quality of life additions I’ve added, which primarily affect the main Hunter Route. To start, you are now prompted in the beginning if you would like to start the game with the Vampire Route!



I am aware of a large player base that comes to the game just to play this story, so this change is to accommodate them. You will be prompted that you will be missing important context as a player, but I feel that the story of the vampire route still works well since Mila suffers from amnesia. Use it if you like, although the traditional way is still available and you will now be prompted just before it becomes available, in Dorian’s Manor



Another change I’ve made is a small but welcome buff to Holy Water, Purify, and Holy Purify skills. You now gain resistance to the vampirism state for 1-2 turns after using them.



This is to mitigate the frustration of healing the state, only to be immediately reinfected the same turn. Be aware that this change also affects the hunters you fight in the Vampire Route!

Lastly, there is no new in-game art to share with you all this week, however, I have some bonus art I wanted to share with you, since we are nearing the end of Summer. Here’s some chill art of Bad Girl Bianca in a Bodacious Bikini.

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 8/18/2024

End of the week once again. Does it ever dawn on anyone how quickly 2024 has gone by? Sheesh.

Anyway, I’m currently wrapping up event scripting for Clover’s quest. The first half of it involves doing a bit of detective work around Mor Town to actually find her.



This leads to a set piece where you are pitted against multiple waves of enemies, similar to the arena at the end of the main route. Not a problem, especially if you have a well trained Pet at your side!

I'm still working on balancing the fights and tweaking dialogue, but I should be completely finished working on this quest by next week. I just finished the last piece of art needed for it, which you can see a preview of below:

WEEKLY UPDATE!! 8/11/24

This week has been all about diving deep into the creative process! I've carved out dedicated time for brainstorming and writing sessions, and I’m excited to share some updates. I’ve finished the outline for Clover’s contract quest, which is a major step forward. Starting next week, I'll be focusing on crafting the dialogue and scripting the events that will bring her story to life. I’m really looking forward to making this quest engaging and memorable for everyone!

Additionally, I’ve completed writing and scripting all of Clover's support conversations. She’s set to be the next Pet available in the game, and you’ll be able to unlock her by completing her contract. I can’t wait for you all to meet her!



As a playable character, she’ll take the role of a sort of rogue, who is less likely to be targeted by enemies. Her weapon of choice is the bow and while her damage output is low, she is a good support member of your team.

Also, here’s a sneak peek of Clover’s max support scene illustration. She’s got a relaxed and easygoing vibe, but don’t let that fool you—she’s got her own set of challenges and a hidden depth beneath her laid-back exterior. Check out the preview below!

WEEKLY UPDATE 8/4/24

I have reached another milestone for this update cycle. I have finished all of the art for the four new enemy types as well as added them into the game. As previously mentioned, the four new enemy types being added into this update all focus on a singular skill type (Axe, Cross, Bomb, and Knife/Dagger). They have been sprinkled into older areas, replacing certain vampire hunters. However, I’ve also added in a few extra enemies to some areas, so that’s more opportunities to gain BP from fighting them!



As shown here, the new enemy types will appear as early as the mountainside area, to give players plenty of chances to get familiar with them and how they fight. The heavy hitting, axe-wielding Berserkers in particular are rather tough to fight early on. I hope that this encourages players to use different tactics to defeat them.

I did say that all the art for these enemies was done, so here is a small teaser of the Righteous Acolyte’s fall to Mila’s embrace…

I forget offhand if I mentioned it, but I have finished all the sketches I need to make for all of this update’s art, so that hurdle is well on its way to getting done. I’m also working on some more bonus art to share with you all, this time focused on Bianca! I have 3 more illustrations to finish for this update cycle and I can’t wait to share it with you!
