If you're an avid Skyrim blacksmith, highly anticipated sword-making game Bladesong finally has a launch date

Sometimes I find myself contemplating what my life would have looked like in another era. The glitz and glamor of the 1920s, the innovative years of the Enlightenment; as a historian by trade, it's something I ponder far too frequently (but I'm a modern historian, so no dreaming of the Roman Empire). Having recently replayed Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, however, I've found myself falling down a medieval hole, contemplating what the world would have looked like as your average, working citizen. Best not wave him over your head, or you might glitch out. Also, that's not a smiley face, it's a deathshead. Ah, many are those who have trembled in the glare of the Tantus Tsunami (don't google it).

Bladesong is a combatless yet enticing sword game, and it's got a new demo

From futuristic hack-and-slashers to medieval adventures, if a videogame contains a sword, there's a 99.9% chance that you're going to use it for some slicing and dicing. Blood will certainly spill as you run through enemies with whatever saber, kartana, or longsword you have to hand. Making up the 0.1%, though, is Bladesong, a game all about the intricacy and beauty of sword crafting, rather than fighting. After recently wrapping up what was its final playtest, a new playable demo is now available on Steam, letting you play the first chapter of its campaign and unleashing its sandbox mode, too.
