🌙 Everholm - Chinese Localization Preview & Major Update Sneak Peek!

Hi everyone!

We’re excited to share that a preview of our Chinese localization is now live on the beta branch of Everholm! While we continue polishing this translation, we also want to give you a sneak peek into what’s coming in our major upcoming update.

To access the beta version, go into the Everholm Steam properties -> Betas -> select: Public - beta For Public -> run the game!


🛠️ What We’re Working On:

🌑 A Deeper, More Meaningful Story

• Story progression will no longer be hidden behind NPC heart levels.
  
• Dreams and key story moments will be tied to Underworld biomes and boss fights.
  
• Expect foreshadowing, twists, and a satisfying conclusion at the end of the storyline.
  

🧍‍♀️ NPC Rework & Dialogues

• NPCs are getting full portraits with emotions and reactions.
  
• Dialogues will move to classic bottom-screen boxes with player choice options.
  
• Heart levels will unlock new recipes, blueprints, and gifts.
  
• Updated designs for a more cohesive and age-balanced cast.
  

📖 Lore & Exploration

• Discover Everholm’s past through collectible Archive Pages.
  
• New quests and events will unveil deeper NPC backstories and world lore.
  

🧭 Quest System Overhaul

• Smarter, more relevant quests based on your progress.
  
• Two types: item-based and action quests (like finding lost animals or clearing monsters).
  
• Better pacing and more rewarding questlines.
  

🍀 Luck System Rebalance

• New mechanics and activities for bad luck days.
  
• No more streaks of endless bad luck — we’re capping them!
  
• Always something fun to do, every day.
  

📚 Archive

• Archive: donate rare items and pages for rewards and lore.
  
• Translate lost scriptures
  
• Discover secrets and mysteries!
  

🧑‍🍳 Cooking Expansion

• More recipes, ingredient synergy, on-the-go cooking, and deeper gifting/crafting integration.
  

🌟 Achievements, Ports & More

• Steam achievements incoming!
  
• Full localization begins with Chinese and expands from there.
  
• Consoles (Switch, Xbox, PS) are in our sights post-update.
