Given Softstar's success in adapting the film The Bridge Curse into the 2022 survival horror game The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation, players have been eagerly waiting for its sequel, The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication. Following the launch of the game's Steam page, the first promo video has been officially released, giving players a peek at Wen Hua University's "Carnival of Horror."

The promo starts with the image of an elevator at Wen Hua University. What looks like your average college campus is soon disturbed by the last known images of a missing student, seen from the perspective of the elevator's surveillance footage. Then there's the eerie red liquid spattered on the ground and the constant rumors of ghosts haunting the campus at night... All of this unveiling a series of most mysterious and frightening incidents.



The game is played from a first-person perspective, and the player pieces together the story by switching between four main characters. Besides university students, part of the game is played as a reporter who arrives on campus to investigate a bizarre missing persons case after receiving an eerie letter.



In the depths of night, the ticking of a clock echoes through the empty Da Ren building. A sergeant donning black shades patrols the campus after hours, and yellowing newspapers with frightening headlines can be seen crumpled in the corners. Will the school's dark secrets, after all these years, finally see the light of day?



There's an old photo of the university's ribbon-cutting ceremony, with the school founder and several esteemed guests. But it looks like one of their faces has been purposefully scratched off. Is this just the work of trouble-making students, or is someone trying to hide something…?



Who's that man with the creepy smile? And that woman... it looks like her head is about to fall off. Will prayer beads be enough to keep the evil away, or is this much too sinister? The complicated, interweaving storylines and the intricate visual clues scattered throughout the game show how much time and effort the development team has put into The Extrication. Softstar has also noted that besides adding new types of gameplay, the sequel is guaranteed to be even more challenging than the original, and will tell a deeper, more layered story.

Following the success of Softstar's adaptation of the film The Bridge Curse into the 2022 survival horror game The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation, players were screaming for a sequel. The game not only got a Gold Medal for Taiwanese Developed Games at the 2022 Taipei Game Show, it also stacked high in sales and garnered positive praise from players. After months of keeping their lips sealed, the developers are finally ready to reveal some highlights from the second game in The Bridge Curse series. The standalone sequel will be called The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication... and the STEAM page is officially open!



The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication is a reimagined adaptation of the movie The Bridge Curse 2: Ritual, centering its plot around paranormal events that occur on a modern campus. The story takes place at Wen Hua University, known around the island for its creepy ghost stories. At the campus' supposedly haunted Da Ren building, a group of students from the film club is about to hold the "Carnival of Horror," hoping to attract some new members. They plan on re-enacting a bizarre case that happened on campus decades ago and turning it into a horror movie, but as they film in the depths of night, a series of strange events start to occur...



Just at this time, a reporter arrives on campus hoping to solve a mysterious missing persons case from the past, driven by curiosity and the prospect of an exclusive after receiving a creepy letter. The story of the students and the reporter become inextricably intertwined, and after collecting a series of clues... Will the truth be brought to light? Or does a more sinister conspiracy lie lurking in the dark? Perhaps you'll find out... if you manage to stay alive.



The game immerses the player in a suspenseful, fright-filled story, where they control four characters from a first-person perspective. As the storyline progresses, the player follows these characters as they explore the unknown with bated breath. Besides hiding from ghastly ghouls, the player must also collect clues to unravel a thrilling mystery. Finally, The Bridge Curse 2 not only adds new items and stages, it also adds a new element to the Exploration phases of the game, as well as other functions. Who knows? Perhaps players who dig deep into the darkness will unearth even more of the horrifying truth…



The development team has stated that "our horror games don't solely focus on violence and gore like many Western titles. Besides freaking out the players, we also add humor and some gentler moments so that the experience isn't overly oppressive." What's more, there's quite a lot of Easter eggs waiting to be uncovered! Thanks to exceptionally meticulous storytelling and the use of realistic environments and architecture, the developers allow players to truly experience a modern campus ghost story that is infused with local culture and compelling folk superstitions.
