Developer Diaries #9 - Tanuki Hideout & Fox Forms
Happy Autumn Seikyuians,
We’re back and we are so excited to share some tasty new sneak peeks with you! However first we wanted to check in and see how you’ve been enjoying our recent release of Content Update 1 - Bloom & Bond? With lots of new features added such as Customization, new romanceable villagers Mika & Kincho, a Hot Spring AND Ranching; we hope this has made your time in Seikyu even that more magical!🌸 Do let us know of any feedback and suggestions by visiting our Discord, we are always happy to hear your thoughts.
We want to give you another special treat this month by sharing some exclusive behind the scene peeks at things you haven’t seen yet, as well as character portraits of Uwabami who’s set to arrive in Seikyu in the future.😉
🐍Uwabami’s Expressions Progress
We’ve shared a bit about Uwabami before but to recap; his yokai form will be based on the snake yokai namesake Wabami or “Orochi”. The other villagers may be more amiable but Uwabami is a bit more chaotic and will prove a challenge to get close to, but once you get close you may discover someone wholly committed and caring. 😉
We’ve shared concept art of his character before but here are some looks at the progress of his portrait expressions.. (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)

And here is the finished lineup of his expressions, if you had to pick a favourite what would it be?
🏘️Tanuki Hideout
It is no secret that the Tanuki have their own plans in Seikyu. Therefore it is only natural that they would have somewhere to make plans and avoid attracting too much attention from the villagers - particularly Nyotengu (although she’d probably welcome some “noise” at this point).
Here's concept art and early sketchwork of the Tanuki Hideout! There are several bedrooms here as well as an irori (a traditional Japanese sunken hearth which is a square, stone-lined pit in the floor used for heating and cooking). 🫖
🦊Player Fox Forms
You read that right, we’re sharing some early looks at what your character may look like once you’re able to master your elusive Fox Form! 👏🏻
These are some early sketches and work in progress so please bear in mind this may not be the final look once this feature is added to Tales of Seikyu in the future.

The same way we have made sure you can customize your character, we’ll make sure to look into customization of your fox forms as well. We’ve linked the look of your fox to how your player character looks (eye colour and skin colour), but we’re also looking into making it possible to customize this form separate to your character!🪞
And that is it for this month’s Dev Diary, we hope you enjoyed this and do let us know what else you may want us to share in future Developer Diaries and let us know what you think of what we’ve shared today as well. 😊
