H-hi again! It’s me, Seabert. I’ve got the next part of my guide to Seikyu i-if you wanted to take a look. I did a lot of research and worked really hard on the pictures…b-but it’s no pressure! I think you might like it, though, since it’s got lots of fox history in it. Lemme know what you think ฅ՞•ﻌ•՞ฅ

[h2]Fox Shrines[/h2]
Did you know that Seikyu was built by fox yokai? You did? Oh, right! They must be your ancestors. Sorry, it’s been a long time since there were any fox yokai in Seikyu that I forgot. T-that doesn’t make you sad does it? Uncle Torleone says we should stop and pay our respects to the foxes who founded the village whenever we can. It’s thanks to you that we’ve got somewhere safe to live.

You’ll find fox shrines all over Seikyu. There’s one just outside the village, there’s one at the farmhouse, one at the ruins and, uhh, I forget where the rest are but they’re out there, I promise!



[h2]Farmhouse[/h2]
Welcome to your new home! Mayor Yui Oda let me take some pictures in return for helping clean up the place. She told me that this farm house was built by foxes and it’s been around for nearly as long as Seikyu, so I guess it must be pretty old. N-not that that’s a bad thing! It’s much bigger than the cottages in the village. I bet you could put all kinds of stuff in it. Maybe Sasaki will sell you some cool furniture?

There are a bunch of fields out front, but they don’t have anything growing in them yet. You could probably get some pretty flower seeds from Musashi if you wanted. That’d be nice. You could grow fruits and vegetables too, I guess…as long as I don’t have to eat them. It looks like there could actually be space for more fields, but there are a lot of rocks and trees you’d need to clear out first before you could build anything like that. Hmm, running a household seems like a big job, but I’m sure you’re up to it!



[h2]Inari Temple[/h2]
Phew, it took me a really long time to get a picture of this one! The Inari Temple is just outside of Seikyu and it’s run by a priest named Leon. He’s a really nice guy with lots of stories…lots and lots and lots of stories. He was telling me all about this book he wrote called “Adventures of Leon” – he told me so much that I don’t even think I’ll need to read it now.

The Inari Temple is a really pretty place and Leon does a good job of looking after it. Uncle Torleone says they sometimes hold celebrations at the temple, though we haven’t had one in a really long time. I-I don’t know how much you know about Inari, but Leon told me that she’s the goddess of the harvest and that she likes it when we leave offerings. I didn’t like the way he looked at my camera when he said that, so I left.



[h2]Fox Ruins[/h2]
T-the fox ruins are way out in the countryside and, to tell you the truth, I-I didn’t think I’d be able to go. It’s kinda dangerous to get to them and I’ve heard there are all sorts of mean yokai inside. I was sad that I wouldn’t be able to get a picture for you, but then Uncle Torleone suggested I ask Yohji to take me! Yohji is Seikyu’s historian and he knows lots about the ruins. Uncle Torleone took him aside for a chat when he came to pick me up, and when they returned, Yohji’s hat was at a funny angle and his shirt was all screwed up. I don’t know what they were talking about, but Yohji said we’d be taking the safest route, so that’s good!

He told me that the fox ruins are really old and there are all sorts of secrets and treasures in there. He said that there are areas even he can’t access, and you’d probably have to be a fox yokai to explore every inch of them. He was real excited telling me all about the ruins and about some human book he’s reading. He got so excited that he said we could go down to the very entrance of the ruins as long as I didn’t tell Uncle Torleone! I was a little nervous, b-but I wanted to get a good picture for you. I hope this one is okay…



Wow, I feel like I’ve been all over Seikyu recently. It’s nice to really explore somewhere you live! There are a couple more places I wanna visit and take pictures of for you before you arrive, and I’ll get working on part four of the guide right away!

Can we just say how amazing you all are as a community? Not only did you share oodles of support and encouragement with us during the Tales of Seikyu Steam Next Fest demo, you also provided some of the most helpful feedback and bug reports, which is like candy for us as a dev team!

As we get closer to our Early Access launch (date TBA), we wanted to give you a little insight into some of the things we’ve been working on based on your wonderful feedback. Don’t worry, we won’t get too technical and, remember, this is just an overview and it’s not the full list of everything we’re working on right now ദ്ദി(｡•̀ ,
Of course we’re still really keen to hear your thoughts! If you have any feedback on the points below once you get hands on with Tales of Seikyu, we’d love to hear it to help us continue to improve the game! ^_^

[h3]Optimisation:[/h3] Optimisations have been made to reduce demand on GPU and CPU, reduce lag, and increase overall framerate. Optimisation was one of the areas you gave us lots of feedback on, and we agree that it’s really important. So, we have planned on-going work on optimisation all the way through our Early Access journey to make sure it is being constantly improved.

We would encourage you to check the minimum specs on our Steam page as well so you are up to date on what the latest hardware requirements are for Tales of Seikyu.



[h3]Longer Days:[/h3] We’ve added a slider to allow players to increase or decrease the speed of the in-game time. We get it, nobody likes feeling like they’re majorly up against the clock!



[h3]Camera Motion:[/h3] The default camera speed has been reduced as an accessibility measure due to the feedback that it was causing motion sickness. Players can make further adjustments to suit their needs in the settings menu. Let us know what you think!



[h3]Weapon Durability:[/h3] This has been removed and weapons will no longer break. Don’t worry, we’ve not put Hephaestus out of a job, you’ll still be able to buy new weapons at the forge. We are aware there’s been a lot of feedback on combat, so we see this change to weapon durability as just the start! Be sure to continue to let us know how you feel about combat.

[h3]Navigation:[/h3] We’ve made the world of Seikyu easier to explore by adding more signs, a fog-of-war effect and notifications to alert players when they are entering out-of-bounds areas that are under development. We have also updated the map to show the direction the player is facing and made improvements to the way the map highlights points of interest.



[h3]Character Pathing:[/h3] Reported bugs have been fixed, but our villagers sometimes like to go off on their own adventures, so please let us know if you spot anyone in a place they shouldn’t be!

[h3]Key Remapping:[/h3] Default keys have been updated based on player feedback for a more intuitive gameplay experience. We think this helps make combat and traveling around Seikyu feel a bit better, but let us know what you think when you play!

[h3]Key Binding:[/h3] As of Early Access, players will be able to rebind their keys – huzzah! We hope that this will give players a smoother experience with their own control preferences, so let us know if this helps with that!

[h3]Inventory Management:[/h3] We had feedback about limited inventory space, so we've added a new Key-Items inventory tab, freeing up more space within inventories. Items will be sent to your mailbox when your inventory is full, and players will be able to buy more inventory space from Musashi. Let us know if you have further requests or feedback on the inventory space so we can continue working on this!

[h3]Storage:[/h3] The Storage Yokai can be upgraded for additional storage space.

[h3]Screen Tearing:[/h3] We had many requests for V-Sync to be added to the game and we’re happy to announce that V-Sync is now an option in the settings menu!

[h3]Bug Fixes:[/h3] We’ve fixed hundreds of bugs thanks to all the helpful bug reports we got from players during Next Fest. Please keep submitting those bug reports from Early Access and beyond!

[h3]Combat:[/h3] Both camera locking and combat animations have been improved, and we’re keen to hear your thoughts on this throughout Early Access. We’re aware that there is still a long way to go to get combat feeling as good as it should. Let us know how it feels at Early Access and we’ll work together to find more areas to improve on our road to 1.0.

[h2]Keep an Eye Out For…[/h2]
Looking to the future, we’re also working on requests from Next Fest that will be coming to the game in various updates throughout our Early Access journey.

[h3]Player Character Customisation:[/h3] We’re working on adding customisations for skin colour, hair colour, and hairstyles.

[h3]UI/UX:[/h3] We’ve heard your request on the game’s UI/UX, and have scheduled time into our Early Access roadmap to make adjustments and improvements to this system. We’d love to get your feedback to help us further refine this!

[h3]Steam Deck Compatibility:[/h3] We’ve been working on optimising the game for Steam Deck, but Steam Deck verification is unlikely to happen for the Early Access launch. We have heard your requests to play Tales of Seikyu on Steam Deck, and we will update you once we have passed Steam’s Steam Deck verification process!

[h3]Male Romance Options:[/h3] Thank you to everybody who completed our Male Romanceable NPC Survey! Your feedback has been so helpful in steering the direction for future romanceable characters. We’re already working on romance options as a result of this feedback and wanted to give you a sneak peek at this handsome fellow…

Phew, and that’s only some of the things we’re working on based on your feedback. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes at Seikyu HQ as we gear up for Early Access, and we’re so happy to have you on this journey with us. Hi everyone! I’m so happy you liked my guide to Seikyu. I worked hard on the pictures, and I think the ones for part two turned out even better! It was a lot of fun getting to take shots of Sasaki, Hephaestus, and Shuten…though I had to stand on a trash can to get the one of Hephaestus. I hope you find this next guide helpful and, umm, let me know if you’d like a part three?

[h2]Sasaki’s Furniture Store[/h2]
I-I’m sure your farmhouse looks nice already, but if you ever wanted to fix it up, well, you should visit the furniture shop. Sasaki is a real nice guy! He was telling me all about how he inherited the store when I took his picture. There’s all sorts of cool stuff in there like tables and chairs. I even heard that you can paint some of them if you prefer a different colour, how cool is that? I wish I could have stayed a little longer b-but I accidentally knocked some decorations off a shelf. T-then I panicked and bumped into another shelf and Uncle Torleone told me to wait outside while he “settled up”, whatever that means.



[h2]Hepheastus’ Forge[/h2]
Can I tell you a secret? I’d never actually been to the forge before I started working on this guide. I thought a forge was something to do with trains! Turns out it’s where you make weapons and stuff, how cool is that? Well, it’s not very cool, it’s actually pretty hot in a forge! T-that was a joke…sorry. A-anyway, Hepheastus showed me around and told me about all the stuff he’s been working on. He even offered to help me upgrade my sword, and he seemed shocked when I told him I didn’t have one. He started telling me a story about something legendary called the Muru…uhh…Muro-something sword. It sounded neat, but the heat was making me a little sleepy and I might have dozed off.



[h2]Shuten’s Tavern[/h2]
Our final stop of the day was Shuten’s Tavern. Uncle Torleone came along to this one too – he said he wasn’t sure she’d let me in otherwise. The tavern is a big building with lots of tables and chairs, and I guess Shuten must have been cooking because it smelled really good! Shuten said it gets a lot busier at night and told me to tell you her prices can’t be beat. Umm, she actually gave me a big list of things to tell you, like how it’s really fun and the sake is delicious, and you’ll make lots of friends and, oh boy, I should have written it down. I had a sniff of Uncle Torleone’s drink and it didn’t smell all that nice to me, but that’s okay. I stopped off at a vending machine on the way home and got my favourite Ninja Bubble flavour. I-it’s lemon. In case you were wondering…



T-that’s it for part two of the guide. I’m gonna speak to Mayor Yui Oda next and find out lots of fox stuff for the next part. You’re gonna be so impressed, I just know it!

H-hi everyone, I’m Seabert. Umm…some of you might recognise me as Seikyu’s customs and registrations officer. I’ll be helping you get set up in Seikyu once you arrive. I also help my Uncle Torleone at his shop, you should stop by sometime. Oh! I’m so silly. That’s actually what I wanted to talk to you about!

I’ve been putting together a guidebook for you with pictures I’ve taken of Seikyu. T-they’re nothing special, but I’m trying to get better at photography. I thought you might find it helpful to get to know Seikyu a little better before you get here. I-if you want to, that is. Ahem, so…without further ado…this is Seabert’s Guide to Seikyu ฅ՞•ﻌ•՞ฅ

[h2]Torleone’s Fish Shop[/h2]
Uncle Torlerone is the most skilled fisherman in Seikyu, he spends all day out at sea and sells his catches at the fish shop in the mornings…and he still finds the time to take me out on fishing trips. He’s the best! You can buy all kinds of delicious fish at his shop and cook it into yummy recipes like baked fish. I-I could even help you eat some of the things you cook. You know? If you ever made too much…



[h2]Musashi’s General Store[/h2]
Mr Musashi is the yokai who runs the general store and he sells all kinds of stuff there. You can get seeds, dyes, wine, and even upgrades for your backpack! I sometimes hear my uncle call Mr Musashi a ‘shyster’ – I think it must mean ‘businessman’, since he only says it after he’s bought something from the general store. Whatever the case, I think I’ll be giving Mr Musashi some space for the time being since he scolded me for following him around with my camera.



[h2]Miss Ama’s Tailors[/h2]
If you need any new clothes, you should stop by Miss Ama’s shop! She’s Seikyu’s number-one seamstress and she can even make custom outfits for you. Uncle Torleone sometimes sends me over to drop dyes off for her, but he tells me not to tell her they’re from him. She used to be an actress, you know? Uncle Torleone has seen all her movies and performances! Unlike Mr Musashi, Miss Ama really likes to have her picture taken. She told me that if she hadn’t gotten into acting, she’d have been a model. It’s fun listening to her stories.
