Quality of Life Update!
Hello adventurers of Seikyu!
We’ve been listening to your feedback and suggestions and have been rolling out regular patches to fix and adjust elements based on this! Additionally, we have just rolled out a quality of life update to help your days on the Island of Seikyu run a bit more smoothly.😊

Here's what’s been implemented in today’s update:
🦊 Fixes for Kon
Our little Fox sister has been up to mischief! We've had a little talk with her and she says she won’t get in your way as much as she used to, so you can get around easier! She’ll be further away from you when exploring, will no longer obstruct furniture placement, and we’ve also made some tweaks to her interaction button prompts and Kon’s priority when talking to people. Let us know what you think with these fixes!
🎒 Stackable Inventory Items
Several of the same items can now be stacked in your inventory, so you’ll have more room for the things that matter, like gifts for your beloved! However dishes won’t stack as higher quality dishes will have higher price points. This is to avoid you losing your best culinary results in a stack with lower quality dishes.
📦Storage Optimisation
We’ve made organising your storage a lot easier by adding an ability to automatically sort and merge similar items. Simply press a key in the storage box interface and it will do the work for you!
🌞Seasonal Display Date
To make things a lot clearer each season, the display will now show both the day and current season underneath the mini-map! Which means you won’t forget someone’s important birthday or an event, not that Yui would let you miss it anyway. 👀
🗑️Seasonal Trash Cans
Ours and the players most favourite resource of items, the trash can, will now contain seasonal items! That’s right, the items you will now find by racooning through the trash will be seasonally foraged items and seeds. 🦝
🎮Controller Vibration
To make the experiences you have in Seikyu a lot more immersive we’ve added controller vibration to the cutscenes where you unlock the Fox Ancestor’s Shrines. We will also be adding this to other cutscenes in the future.
🎚️Auto Pick Up
This has been a very highly requested community feature and we were more than happy to make daily life in Seikyu a little easier by implementing the auto-pick up. Now items in proximity with your character will be automatically picked up and added to your inventory.
📑Quick Menu Optimisation
Using an item via the hotkey will now select the next item instead of the first item in the quick selector.

Thank you as always for your continued support and feedback! Please keep telling us what you think and give us more suggestions and feedback through any channel as well as participating in our Player Experience Survey!

Developer Diaries #4 - Expressions, Cat & Flowers
Greetings, Seikyuians!!
We hope you’ve all enjoyed your first in-game days, weeks, and even seasons in Tales of Seikyu since our Early Access Launch just over two weeks ago! It has been so incredible to watch you all find your place as well as getting to know the locals. (-‿◦☀)

We are listening to feedback and suggestions to help improve the Tales of Seikyu experience so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts and experiences with us by filling out the User Experience Survey!
We’ve also released a series of patches to address various points raised by the community as soon as we launched into Early Access and will continue to do so as part of Seikyu’s development.

Before we dive into some developer sneak peeks, we wanted to remind you about our Road Map which outlines what’s being worked on and will be coming with future updates.

We got a lot of new things to show you so hang on tight! 😊
🖤 Learn more about Kincho!
We’ve teased Kincho a few times but we’re now ready to share a little more about this handsome new romanceable character coming with the next content update!

Kincho is well spoken and straightforward, you may find this approach refreshing. He’s quite the logical thinker and at times a little cheeky so expect to have your interactions infused with a sprinkle of humour.

We don’t want to spoil much about Kincho but he’s a Tanuki and has arrived in Seikyu for a reason. He will make his intentions clear to you, and the other Yokai villagers will have their own (sometimes strong) opinions about Kincho as he becomes a part of daily life in Seikyu.
😺 Bringing Cat-Beanie to Seikyu
As part of our Kickstarter campaign you could back an option to Bring Your Pet into the Game! This is what we’ve been working on and completed. Say hello to Cat-Beanie:

Found at just 2 days old, she was taken in by kind hearted villagers and has been thriving since.
She’s very affectionate yet can be quite mischievous! But more than anything, she likes snuggling up and watching the birds.
🎮Update on Mika’s Expressions
We mentioned this briefly in our Developer Diary #3 that Mika will be arriving with Major Content Update 1.0 and the Hot Springs, and we shared a few of her work in progress expressions. We now have a full range which includes Shocked and Blush, so cute!

Which one is your favourite? ٩(◕‿◕)۶
🌼 Leon’s Room & A Blooming Flower
A big part of developing a game is to fill the world with items and art that make the space come alive. Yui’s room for example is getting the appropriate attention with cakes and dishes on her counter.

That being said, we have also constructed the interior framework for Musashi's room and created furniture for Leon's! Here’s a sneak peek at his living space and library:

We’ve also worked on this beautiful Blooming Flower that we wanted to share.

Alongside all of this we have also spent significant time working on optimizations such as enhancing the announcement board as well as looking into improving combat mechanics such as chase attacks.
👘Summer Outfit Coming This Week!
Get ready to channel the relaxing summer vibes in Seikyu with our Exclusive Summer Blossom Outfit!

We will be sending this outfit to all players this Thursday 26th of June so keep an eye on your mailbox notification in game.❤️
🌹Lots more to come!
Thank you for your continued support and love for Tales of Seikyu, we are excited to bring you more in the future as we work towards Major Content Update 1. With this update you will experience Seikyu’s summer festival, take a relaxing dip in the hot spring, and begin raising livestock on the ranch. There will also be additional outfits, furniture, and more!

Don’t forget to interact with our polls and questions over on Discord to help shape the future of Tales of Seikyu, and follow us on any of these platforms for regular news, giveaways, updates and so much more: , X, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit.

And before you go please don’t forget to review Tales of Seikyu if you’ve enjoyed your journey so far. Leaving a Steam Review only takes a moment and it means the world to us when you do! (◠‿◠✿).

What We’re Working On: Optimizations, Character Customization, and more!

Howdy Seikyuties! We hope you’re all having fun getting stuck into the Early Access version of Tales of Seikyu. As you’ll have undoubtedly read on Steam, we’ve been pushing lots of updates with bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements to make your Seikyu experiences as smooth as possible. Your feedback is invaluable during this journey, and we’re so thankful to you all for sending over your thoughts!

We may have just launched in Early Access, but we’re already working hard behind the scenes on ways to implement your feedback. Here’s a little look at some (but by no means all) of the things we’ve been working on!
Optimizations
You’ll have seen lots of optimization updates recently, but one of the big areas we've been working on is custom occlusion culling, and this should go a long way in terms of overall improvement. We’re going to be continually working on optimization, so if you experience any issues at all, please do submit a bug report form via the main menu of the game so that we can continue to improve and refine!
Character Customization!
We know that character customization is something the community would like to see in Tales of Seikyu, so we have decided to move this feature forward in our roadmap to bring it to you sooner! We’re currently working on giving you the option to customize the hair, skin, and eye color of your character via a color wheel, and we are aiming for this to be available in our first major content update! In the future, we plan on adding more hairstyles to the game and we’ve even been asking you your preferences over in the polls channel of the official Tales of Seikyu community Discord. Make sure you join to have your say! We know how important customization is to you and we can’t wait to bring you more and more. For now, here’s a little concept art of what the character customization screen could look like.
Fleshing Out the World
Tales of Seikyu is an Early Access game, which means that the content available now is only a fraction of what is coming and what will be in the game at 1.0. However, we understand how important it is to players that our world feels rich and engaging along the way.

With that in mind, we’re currently working on:

 • New characters walking around Seikyu.
 • An exciting new area where more animals can be found!
 • Adding additional interactions with animals to make spending time with your furry friends more enjoyable.
 • Updates to character rooms. Visiting villagers is always fun, but we know some of the lodgings in Seikyu look a little modest at the moment, which is why we’re working on the designs for NPC homes. Can you guess who the room below belongs to?

And that’s just the beginning! We’re also going to be working on adding ranching, new quests, and additional activities in buildings like Shuten’s Tavern. Check out our roadmap for an idea of how Tales of Seikyu will grow over time!
“Kon Is Always in the Way!”
Little sisters, eh? They just wanna be involved in everything! While it’s nice to have your sis by your side when you’re off adventuring, we know how frustrating it can be when you’re trying to pick up an item or chat to a villager and she gets in the way. We’ve updated the button prompts used to interact with Kon and we’re working on updates to her pathing as well, which should help prevent her barging in front of you all the time (can you believe that she tells you to work on your manners?!).
Villager Dialogue & Behaviour
We're adding more detail to the NPC schedules so that they have different routines for each season, and so that they have more relevant/interesting stuff to say to you when you run into them out and about! For example, we know that Liliana's head is in the clouds, but she shouldn't be talking about how beautiful and sunny Seikyu is while it's raining! We’ll also be adding more useful character dialogue, including tips and information about what’s going on in Seikyu.
Storage Adjustments
We’ve had some comments from players asking if we’ll be adding a “take all/deposit all” button to the storage UI. This does actually already exist in game, but we’re going to work on the UI to make this feature more user friendly!

To use the “take all/deposit all” feature, open the storage or container, and press the “R” button. You can see the button prompt for this on the bottom-right of the screen as you open the container. We’re also looking into adding features that will enable you to auto-sort in storage menus, as well as ones that will enable you to craft from storage.
Controller Support
We’ve got a couple of bugs to iron out when it comes to controller support. We just wanted to let you know that we’re aware of issues with controllers and that we’re working on them! We are very grateful for your bug reports and hope you’ll keep making them so that we can make the game controls even better!
Fishing
Similarly, we’re working on some bug fixes for fishing, and your feedback has been super valuable here. We know there are some balancing adjustments that need to be made and we want you to know we’re hard at work making fishing a fun and relaxing experience.
Lolita Outfit Concept Art
Along with hairstyles, you’ve also been asking us for more fashion options for your characters. We get it, it’s important to show off your style, especially as a member of the highly regarded Fox Clan! We’re workshopping a few ideas at the moment, and one of them is for a Lolita subculture inspired outfit, as voted on by the community. Check out the concept art below!

Do be sure to join our discord if you want to take part in future polls to have your say on what we work on for Tales of Seikyu during this Early Access journey!
Combat Improvements
It’s important to us that combat feels as slick and intuitive as possible in Tales of Seikyu and, thanks to your feedback, we know there’s plenty of work that needs to be done here. We’re looking into ways to streamline combat and we think this will go a long way in improving the overall experience of the game, from battling low-level yokai in the countryside to boss battles in the ruins!
