Diablo® IV News

Diablo 4 has been outgunned by Path of Exile 2 and Last Epoch. Lord of Hatred proves Blizzard wants to catch up.

Diablo 4 will never be Path of Exile 2, and I wouldn't want it to be. All of the major ARPGs bring something different to the table right now, and that variety has kept me cycling between them. Blizzard's offering has fallen gradually further behind its rivals, however, feeling like more of a time-waster each season as core quality-of-life features offered by PoE and Last Epoch fail to appear. Diablo's 30th anniversary spotlight, where Blizzard unveiled more of the overhauls coming with the Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred expansion (alongside the even bigger surprise of new Diablo 2 Resurrected DLC, Reign of the Warlock), shows a marked effort from the developer to catch back up to the pack.

I hope you like warlocks. Well, if you're someone who regularly delves into Diablo, I hope you at the very least don't detest warlocks with all of your hellish heart. Because yesterday evening's Diablo 30th anniversary shindig was rather heavy on warlocks, with the class coming to not just Diablo 4's next expansion, but also Diablo 2 and Diablo Immortal. Meanwhile, Diablo 2: Resurrected has moseyed on over to Steam.

Diablo 4’s segment in the big Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight was among the biggest, even if the reason most of us tuned in was somewhat spoiled earlier in the same livestream. Blizzard unveiled the Warlock, the second of two classes coming to the game with the upcoming Lord of Hatred expansion.

The end is nigh. Sanctuary lies on a knife's edge: a single tilt is the one thing keeping the tides from turning. Mephisto has possessed the heavenly Akarat, using his new form to spread corruption across the land. In Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred, you'll team up with Lilith - the Daughter of Hatred herself - to put an end to the bloodied wolf once and for all. We've already added the mighty Paladin to the roster, but Blizzard teased that another champion would join the ranks of Diablo 4 classes. I was silently crossing my fingers for the return of the Witch Doctor, but the new 'heavy metal' Warlock feels like a pretty good alternative.
