Primal Planet is OUT NOW!

[p]Hey everyone!

It’s finally happening. After years of solo development, Primal Planet is now in your hands. I can't wait for you to dive in and experience the full journey![/p][p][/p][p]This game has been my everything. Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to work on every part of it — from design and animation to worldbuilding and writing. My goal was to create something that feels both expansive and intimate: a quiet story about a father, his family, and their fight to survive in a beautiful, but dangerous world.[/p][p][/p]
🎵 Original Soundtrack by Michael Kirby Ward
[p]The soundtrack holds a special place in this project — composed by the amazing Michael Kirby Ward, whose music breathes life into every corner of this world.[/p][p]The soundtrack is now available on Steam, either as a standalone or bundled with the game. [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink] [/p]
🎮 Special Launch Bundles
[p]You can now grab Primal Planet in exclusive bundles with some of my all-time favorite games:
Rain World and Salt and Sanctuary. Truly an honor to be alongside them. [/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
🎬 Brand-New Launch Trailer on IGN
[p]The official release trailer just dropped on IGN! It gives you a look at never-before-seen environments, strange creatures, and emotional moments from later in the story. It’s a small taste of what’s waiting for you out there on Primal Planet.
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
Thank You!
[p]Thank you so much for following me on this journey. Whether you’ve been here since the early days or you’re just discovering Primal Planet — I’m grateful you’re here.[/p][p]If you enjoy the game, leaving a review means the world. It helps immensely with visibility on Steam and gives me direct feedback as a developer. Feel free to drop your thoughts here and reach out to me on my Discord — I’d love to hear from you! Primal Planet is my favorite new metroidvania because it has friendly dinosaurs, gorgeous pixel art, and you can hug your wife

In Primal Planet I'm a cheerful ol' brute living in a lush jungle with my wife, daughter, and pet dinosaur Sino. As a confident guy of the Mesozoic era, I'm not too worried about all the dinosaurs and insect life. I can use fruit to distract some enemies, I can stealth crabwalk past sleeping T-rexes, and I can even use my spears to reach otherwise inaccessible heights. It's a pretty nice life, though sometimes dinosaurs try to eat me and my family. Also, giant mechanical monstrosities have started appearing: What the hell are they?..

Dinosaurs of Primal Planet – a closer look

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p][/p][p]I want to tell you a bit about the dinosaurs in Primal Planet. I tried to show each creature the way it could have behaved in nature – at least as far as we know from fossils and research. The sounds are also designed to feel natural – roars, calls, and even footsteps are based on what these animals might have sounded like in real life.[/p][p][/p][p]It’s not meant to be 100% scientifically accurate – this is still a sci-fi fantasy world, and I enjoyed taking some creative freedom 😅 My goal was to make the creatures feel believable and familiar, even if they’re not textbook-accurate.[/p][p][/p][p]Here are some of the ones you can meet in the game:[/p][p][/p]
Allosaurus
[p]A large carnivorous theropod – a predator that hunted other dinosaurs. The Allosaurus has an important role in the story. It’s not just “another big predator,” and you’ll see that when you meet her.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Apatosaurus
[p]A huge herbivorous sauropod. It’s calm and spends its time feeding on plants, but a creature this size can be dangerous if startled. I made it slow and heavy, like it probably was in real life.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Dunkleosteus
[p]Not a dinosaur but an ancient armored fish – one of the biggest predators of prehistoric seas. You’ll definitely feel fear when you see it moving under the water.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Pterosaur
[p]A flying reptile, not technically a dinosaur, but sharing its world. They glide over the jungle, sometimes hunting, sometimes just circling lazily. Their wing sounds and screeches make the world feel more alive.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Raptor
[p]A small but very clever carnivorous theropod. Raptors hunt in packs, and they’re fast – if you hear leaves moving nearby, you should probably run.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Sinosauropteryx
[p]A small feathered theropod – one of the first dinosaurs discovered with evidence of feathers. Sino is special to me: it’s fluffy and really cute. In the story, you take care of an orphaned Sino, and I hope you’ll feel the same connection I did when making Primal Planet. In local co-op, one player can play as Sino 💚[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Tyrannosaurus Rex
[p]The famous apex predator – a huge carnivorous theropod. The whole story begins when you encounter the T-Rex, so be ready for a big moment.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Troodon
[p]A small, smart carnivorous theropod, probably a very alert and cautious hunter. If you see its glowing eyes watching you, you might be in trouble.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Primal Planet will be released on July 28! I’m really looking forward to sharing it with you. Can’t wait to hear what you think when you meet all these creatures! [/p][p][/p][p]PS. Primal Planet got another great preview! Huge thanks to Christian from Eurogamer for taking the time to explore this primeval world 🦕 I’m really happy! "Rarely enjoyed a game more" — IGN on (almost-final) Primal Planet

[p]I’m still melting with excitement.[/p][p][/p][p]Yesterday, IGN published their first hands-on impressions of the near-final version of Primal Planet, and… it’s surreal:[/p][p][/p][p]I’ve been playing video games since about 1982, and Primal Planet stands out among the most charming I’ve ever encountered.[/p][p][/p][p]The beating heart of Primal Planet is the incredible attention to detail and environmental storytelling.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Huge thanks to Jared Petty and IGN for this amazing preview.[/p][p]Leaving the link here — in case you’re curious: [/p][p]https://www.ign.com/articles/primal-planet-lets-you-hug-your-dinosaur-oh-and-its-an-excellent-metroidvania-too[/p][p] [/p][p]I’m so excited to share Primal Planet 🦕 with you all soon — and it’s only a little over two weeks away!
