Update 2.49.0.73

[p][/p]
Ground Vehicles
• [p]Merkava Mk.4 (all variants), Strv 122 (all variants) — a bug that caused the composite armor on the turret roof to be treated as a solid sheet of steel when calculating protection against high-explosive shells, which could result in an overestimated protection at certain angles of attack has been fixed. Previously due to this bug, these tanks could for example survive hits to the turret roof by heavy air fired missiles and large-caliber bombs.[/p]
[p] [/p]
Interface
• [p]A bug that prevented the action to spawn an aircraft with a nuclear bomb from appearing in the action panel when playing as the launcher of a Multi-Vehicle SAM system has been fixed.[/p]
 • [p]A bug on ground vehicles where the laser warning direction indicator was displayed incorrectly if the vehicle's hull was not pointing directly at the source has been fixed.[/p]
 • [p]A bug where the radar indicator on aircraft could sometimes freeze and stop updating its state when switching the selected radar target has been fixed. (Report).[/p]
[p] [/p]
Replays
• [p]A bug where the free camera in replays would become detached from the player after they respawned has been fixed.[/p]
[p][/p]

[p]Patch notes reflect only key changes, meaning they may not include a complete list of all improvements made. Additionally, War Thunder is constantly being updated and some changes may not require an update. Changes reflected in patch notes are formed by taking reactions and requests of the community from the bug reporting service, forums and other official platforms into account. Bug fixes and changes are implemented in order of importance, for example a game-breaking bug will be worked on and implemented sooner.[/p]

Squadron Vehicles — C13 TUA: Italy’s First Squadron Vehicle

[p][/p][p][/p][p]Today we’ll be taking a look at an experimental vehicle based on the C13 platform with TOW ATGMs and the ability to fire from behind cover![/p][p][/p]
[p]C13 TUA: A Squadron Vehicle AT Missile Carrier for Italy at Rank VI[/p]
[p]At a glance:[/p]
 • [p]Folding launcher that fires the I-TOW ATGM[/p]
 • [p]Cannot fire on the move[/p]
 • [p]Light armor[/p]
 • [p]Good mobility[/p]
 • [p]Thermal imager[/p]
[p] [/p]
Vehicle History
[p]Development of the C13 began back in the 1970s as as private venture by Oto Melara. Designers looked to create a compact and multifunctional platform capable of carrying a variety of weapon modules, filling the gap between the aging American M113 and the promising Dardo combat vehicles. The first two prototypes, unveiled in 1983, were equipped with different turrets and were tested in various configurations over the following years. By 1987, a third prototype was built, and Oto Melara actively promoted the vehicle internationally as a replacement for the M113. Despite these efforts however, the project was canceled in 1999 due to a lack of orders.[/p][p][/p][p]The TUA (TOW Under Armor) anti-tank version carried a TOW ATGM launcher with eight missiles (two in the launcher and six stored in the hull) as its primary armament. The crew consisted of three members, a commander, driver and gunner. Light aluminum armor protected against small arms fire and shrapnel. The engine was an Isotta Fraschini Model ID 38 SS V6 diesel engine producing 360 HP and had a top speed of 70 km/h. The C13 TUA failed to secure a government contract and did not attract interest from potential foreign operators, leading to the cancellation of the project.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Introducing the C13 TUA!
[p]A new squadron vehicle coming to War Thunder in the next major update is the experimental Italian C13 TUA anti-tank missile carrier, equipped with a deployable TOW anti-tank missile launcher capable of firing with its hull completely hidden behind low obstacles. Let’s dive into the details![/p][p][/p][p]The C13 TUA may look familiar to you, and that’s because this vehicle, produced by OTO Melara, uses the same launcher found on the American M901. The general layout is also similar, which means the style of play found on the M901 will carry right over to the C13 TUA.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The launcher that holds two I-TOW missiles side-by-side folds out and elevates itself above the vehicle’s chassis, and the optics with the thermal sights are located between the missile tubes. When you setup and pick a spot that has some cover, the entire hull of this vehicle will be concealed, allowing you to fire with just the launcher exposed to the enemy. Bear in mind that if the launcher is hit by enemy shells, it becomes disabled and can resume normally after being repaired.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]If you’ve played the M901, you’ll know that the setup of the C13 TUA will have some limitations. Namely, it can only fire when fully static, and it takes a certain amount of time for the launcher to raise into its firing position. The C13 TUA is definitely not great for active combat due to this, plus its light armor which is only bulletproof, making you a seriously easy target for enemy tanks and aircraft when on the move. The weak armor also exposes the C13 TUA to the blast of high-explosive shells, which can easily penetrate the roof of the hull, even if they hit the launcher. Mobility is good however, the maximum speed of 70 km/h allows it to quickly reach strong positions at the start of the battle, and it can quickly reposition in both urban and rough terrain.[/p][p][/p][p]So, that’s the rank VI C13 TUA for you! It’s Italy’s first squadron vehicle, and can be obtained with squadron activity points or for Golden Eagles. See you in future dev blogs![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Please note that this vehicle’s characteristics may be changed before it is added to the game.[/p]

[/p]
New vehicles this season
[p]
[/p]
RN Luigi Cadorna (Italy)
[p][/p]
A Premium Light Cruiser for Italy at Rank III
[p]
Laid down in 1930, the light cruiser Luigi Cadorna was designed as one of the ships of the second series of Interbellum light cruisers. During the Second World War, Luigi Cadorna served primarily in auxiliary roles, participating in convoy operations, covering shipping between Italy and North Africa, and providing air defense for ports. After the Armistice of 1943, RN Luigi Cadorna defected to the Allies and was used as a training vessel. Postwar, this ship remained in the Italian Navy until 1951, when it was struck off and scrapped.[/p][p] [/p][p]In War Thunder, RN Luigi Cadorna relies on two key advantages of its design: incredible speed and excellent armament. This new light cruiser will arguably be the fastest of its class in the game, boasting a top speed of over 38 knots (over 72 km/h)! Despite its agility, this light cruiser carries a robust armament of eight 152 mm main guns and six 100 mm secondary guns. Lightly armored, RN Luigi Cadorna excels when quickly capturing objectives, destroying enemy destroyers, and group-hunting enemy light cruisers.[/p][p] [/p]
RE 2005 (VDM) (Italy)
[p][/p]
A Premium Fighter for Italy at Rank IV
[p]
The Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario was one of the most advanced Italian fighters during the Second World War, developed as part of the “Serie 5” program alongside the Fiat G.55 and Macchi C.205. The designers of this aircraft used the German DB 605 series aircraft engine, and the second production prototype also tested the German VDM propeller. The prototypes demonstrated excellent performance, however the aircraft never entered large production. Only about 30 Re.2005s were built, primarily for air defense missions in the defense of Naples and Rome.[/p][p][/p][p]The star of Battle Pass Season 21 is the Re.2005 (VDM) Saggitario (Italian for “Shooter”), an improved version of one of the game’s best piston-engine fighters, the Re.2005 Series 0. This variant features a new propeller and a slightly reshaped nose, improving all key performance characteristics. The Re.2005 (VDM) is a fast, maneuverable fighter that excels in air combat at medium and high altitudes. With the ability to carry 630, 500, 250, 160, 100, and 50 kg bombs, the aircraft also excels in Ground and Naval Battles at the mid ranks.[/p][p] [/p]
Battle Trophy with Past Vehicles
[p]Missed out on previous Battle Pass vehicles? The Battle Trophy has you covered, featuring four vehicles from past Battle Passes or events. Opening this trophy will give you one vehicle from the list. If you have them all, you’ll instead receive Silver Lions and the special “Golden Battles Wager”, allowing you to earn up to 1,000 Golden Eagles. [/p][p][/p]

The MS 444 is very fast and agile when moving, and in addition to its torpedoes, it features an excellent armament of 40 mm and 20 mm autocannons. For the most effective salvo, position this boat broadside to the enemy.[/p][p][/p][p]Chi-Nu II (Japan) [/p][p]The Japanese Chi-Nu II medium tank was a transitional design from the Chi-Nu to the “Sherman killer”, the Chi-To. The tank’s main advantage is its excellent 75 mm gun for its rank, as it fires accurately and quickly and has effective APHE rounds. The tank excels as a long-range sniper or as a support tank in urban combat.[/p][p][/p]
Decals
[p]Season 21 brings back the 2021-2022 Warbond decals in a special trophy, and also introduces a new “Sangoma” decal to continue the themed series![/p][p]
