Luna’s Diary: Seek Out the Secret World

Hey, adventurers—Luna, here! Are you ready to check out the beautiful, fun, and downright dangerous realms that await you? As Niko and I journey through The Magical World, I’ve been making notes on each zone we visit to help out our fellow travelers.

There’s plenty of loot to pick up and scenery to enjoy, so don’t forget to collect everything and see it all!

Just when we thought our adventure was over, we discovered another realm to explore!
Secret World
Niko and I couldn’t wait to discover this new world, and leapt into action immediately, landing in the eerie castle at Acid Elevators. As the elevator descended, we picked up as much loot as our paws could carry, being careful to avoid the Cobrings trying to stop our fun!

Next up was Spider Mines, a dark cavern teeming with creepy crawlies, cruel Cobrings, and minecart madness! We travelled along the abandoned mining rails, jumping gaps and avoiding falling boulders on a rollercoaster ride, until we crashed into the chilly atmosphere of Frost Flight.

Delving deeper into this snow-laden scene, Niko deftly dove to avoid dangerous spikes, projectiles, and falling pillars. Little did we know, the worst was yet to come!

We arrived at Crushing Grounds, a stone fortress with several foes to beat and even more obstacles to overcome. Timing is key here, or you may find yourself flattened!

Rainshot Citadel was up next, an overgrown, wooded area of the castle with perilous airbourne obstacles to use to your advantage. The bad weather may be atmospheric, but this heavy rain was certainly not relaxing!

Soon it was time for The Final Battle. An old foe had returned, and we’d have to use all our cunning and skills to defeat them once and for all…

Niko and I hope you enjoy each world you encounter on your adventures as much as we did! Luna, signin’ off!

Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Director’s Cut (PC) Review

Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Director’s Cut, as its title suggests, puts players back in the shoes of the titular Niko and Luna in an expanded and upgraded version of its 2024 original release.

At first glance, Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Director’s Cut may not appear to be a significant upgrade over its initial release, but a closer look reveals a wealth of new content. One of the more apparent changes is a noticeable improvement in visual fidelity, particularly in lighting and material quality. Environments such as gemstones and lava tend to stand out more than in the original version, contrasting with the foliage and rougher materials in a way that surpasses the visual quality of the 2024 game.

On the topic of visual fidelity and graphics, it will be interesting to see how the director’s cut of Nikoderiko fares on lower-end platforms like the Nintendo Switch, as the original release on that platform already suffered from noticeable performance issues. Hopefully,... Read more

Luna’s Diary: Crash Cobring Base!

Hey, adventurers—Luna, here! Are you ready to check out the beautiful, fun, and downright dangerous realms that await you? As Niko and I journey through The Magical World, I’ve been making notes on each zone we visit to help out our fellow travelers.

There’s plenty of loot to pick up, and scenery to enjoy, so don’t forget to collect everything and see it all!

It’s time for one final adventure in Cobring Base.
Cobring Base
It was time for our final stop on our journey. We’d finally found that dastardly Baron Grimbald’s hideaway! Airtube Adventures was the first location we hit, a complex copper factory full of floating flumes (a perfect excuse for Niko to use his glider).

After finishing off some bouncing Cobrings, we headed to Conveyor Spark Sprint. Niko and I ran as fast as our little paws could carry us to avoid being electrified! I dread to think what that would have done to our fur…

After narrowly escaping that circuit of danger, we arrived at Flicker Factory, an eerie abandoned plant where we avoided even more dangerous mechanisms—this time, in the dark! With only blinking light bulbs to guide our way, it was hard to figure out our next steps, but we made it through using our keen adventuring senses, and arrived at Mount Mayhem.

Suddenly the industrial architecture became overrun with nature, and lush greenery covered the machines and iron walkways. One thing hadn’t changed though—the amount of enemies to defeat! As we smashed our way through Cobrings, we had a feeling that the ultimate treasure was nearby.

We were right, and we soon arrived at Grimbald’s Treasury! Finally, we were face to face with Baron Grimbald… and the rest is history!

Niko and I hope you enjoy each world you encounter on your adventures as much as we did! Luna, signin’ off!

Luna’s Boss Diary: Baron Grimbald

Hey adventurers, Luna here! As you journey through The Magical World with Niko and me, you’ll come across dangerous and devious Bosses! I’ve been making notes on every dastardly foe we see to help out our fellow adventurers.

It’s time to face our final foe: Baron Grimbald!
Baron Grimbald
Our adventure was coming to a close, and as bittersweet as it was, the temptation to give in to our treasure-hunting nature was too strong. As we entered Cobring Base, we ignored the dangers and pressed ahead. In the final room of the factory, we narrowly avoided a sticky end at the hands of dangerous mechanisms that can burn, crush, electrocute or drown you! And then we laid eyes on the motherload—a treasure chest!

We ventured forth to claim our riches, but the door to the room suddenly closed! The floor opened up to reveal toxic green sludge, separating us from the chest. That wasn’t all, as the scimitar-wielding Baron Grimbald revealed himself. The battle was on!

Baron Grimbald is as greedy as he is gruesome, and the fight was a battle for the books.

The brazen Baron began by swinging his saber at us and leaping across the room, while we attempted to evade his attacks and launch our own attacks back. Once we’d hit Grimbald enough, he retreated back to the top of the treasure chest, and Niko and I began to climb upwards to reach him, dodging traps and falling debris!

At the top, we took on the Baron’s minions wave by wave until, with one final powerful blow from Niko, the Baron was defeated.

Niko and I wish you luck in your battles with each fearsome foe you meet. Luna, signin’ off!
