Mercenaries of the Kingdom News

Early Access!!!

Hello, Captains!

After much deliberation, I decided to release MOTK:FB in Early Access; below I will explain the reasons:

- During development, I had many new ideas to enrich the game and it would be a shame not to include them.

- For this reason, the development time was extended by a few months.

- I want to adapt the Quick Run to the average player so that it is never frustrating, which means feedback, feedback, feedback!

- Story mode has a very different component to Quick Run (once you exit the battle), and I would like the player to feel "at home" once in the base, so I need your suggestions and feedback.

- There are literally thousands of items in the game, and I'm a single developer. This translates into an almost impossibility to balance them all correctly... and here you are back in the game again :D

I'm sure you'll like Story Mode!
It contains several different features and the seed of a potential sequel with a Bannerlord-style strategic map and campaign... but more on that later and whether MOTK:FB justifies its development.

If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to ask for information using the Community Hub!

See you in the next update, my friends!

New update: DEMO version 9: FIRST BLOOD!

Hello, Captains of Fortune!

Great news today!

This update does not bring any technical improvements or bug fixes but is a very important decision for the future of the game.
I decided to split Mercenaries of the Kingdom into two separate games, in order to optimize development, publishing, marketing, and player support.

From now on, this title will be called "Mercenaries of the Kingdom: First Blood" and will be the first chapter of a possible series related to the fantasy world of Earthial.

First Blood will have the same gameplay as the now playable DEMO, obviously expanded and improved, with the desire to replicate a bit of the gameplay style that has been popular in the last year.
Within the game, in addition to the various progression-related unlocks, the player will gain pieces of Earthial's history, and the mysterious events taking place there.

If you'll like First Blood as much as I do, I'll develop the second chapter, "Mercenaries of the Kingdom: Kingdoms Under Fire", which is much bigger and more challenging. In the second chapter, the player will be able to face an RPG-style Campaign, very complex and strategic, vaguely similar to that of M&B Bannerlord, but obviously with different mechanics.
However, the battles will remain "First Blood" style, but more tactical and far more decisive, as they will influence the outcome of the Campaign.

I'm developing a game like this (rogue-lite, RPG, fantasy, pixel art) for the first time, and I have to say that it's taking me much more than I thought.
I really hope I will have the chance to develop the second title; I have great things in mind!

Have a nice day!

New update: DEMO version 8!

Hello, Captains of Fortune!

This update aims to improve the player's quality of life, implementing the improvements you suggested to me.
NEW VERSION CHANGES:
- Finally, it is now possible to heal each mercenary from the equipment screen!
Consequently, you can heal your mercenaries by dropping the healing potion directly on the battlefield or on that soldier's slot while the book is open.
Many of you have written to me asking me for this legitimate feature, and now it is present.

- Another common thing you asked me is dropping the mercenary's equipment once he dies.
Now, when death welcomes one of your companions, you can recover his possessions by running over them with your character!

- In the info of the objects, I added the value in coins to predict the profit from their sale.

- Fixed an issue that caused backpacks to multiply once they were dropped and picked up.

- Fixed an animation speed issue with the Black Robe.

- Fixed the shop closing issue using the X on the top right of the book.

- The descriptions of some items have been changed.

I hope you are enjoying MOTK!
Any feedback you give me by writing in the Hub is a great help.
If you have friends who might be interested in this game, it would be great if you let them know; word of mouth remains my best marketing weapon.

See you at the next update, have fun!

New update: DEMO version 7!

Hello, Captains of Fortune!

This update is focused only on introducing the shop feature to the battle map.
NEW VERSION CHANGES:
- 5 types of shops have been introduced, which will appear in random locations on the map.
Since the map is large and there is no map yet, I set the presence of more shops of the same type so that it is easier to find them.

- Each shop only sells the goods characteristic of its type, but everyone can buy the items you want to sell.

- types of shops:
Weapons
Armor
Mounts
Potions
Objects

- To interact with the shop, go near the structure (not the shopkeeper) and press F, as you do with chests.
To close the screen, press F again.
I just noticed that the "x" at the top doesn't close the book; I'll fix this in the next update!

- For now, I have only balanced the most unbalanced prices.

Any feedback is welcome, write me in the Community Hub, and I'll get back to you within the day :)
