The original System Shock 2 is being delisted, so if you want it, act fast

We live in a work where remakes and remasters are a dime a dozen. Diablo 2 Resurrected, Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 2: nostalgia sells, and we keep on buying. Earlier this year the titans over at Nightdive dropped a 25th anniversary remaster of System Shock 2, which released to critical acclaim and currently sits at an 87% positive rating on Steam - not too shabby. In the wake of its launch, however, Atari has confirmed that the 1999 version of the game is being delisted on Steam, so if you want to grab a copy of the original, do it now.

The original System Shock 2 will be delisted from Steam soon, then lumped in with the more expensive remaster

The classic 1999 version of System Shock 2 is set to be pulled from sale on Steam later this week. It'll still be kicking around, but as a freebie offered to owners of the game's 25th anniversary remaster, rather than something you can buy separately on Valve's store.

System Shock 2 (1999) Delisting Notice

[p]System Shock 2 (1999) will be delisted from PC platforms on October 10, 2025.

Existing owners of System Shock 2 (1999) will still be able to re-download and play it from their library, but new users will no longer be able to purchase System Shock 2 (1999) as a standalone product.

At the time of delisting, System Shock 2 (1999) will be made available with the purchase of System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster.

Both new and existing owners of System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will be able to access System Shock 2 (1999) from their library at no additional cost.
