Happy Holidays, Survival Typists!

We said we wouldn’t be back with an update until January but we could not resist leaving a little christmas present for you all. This mini update brings balance changes and the ability to choose a specific wordlist language of your choice!

[h3]Independent Wordlists[/h3]

Word lists are now independent of the UI language you have chosen! What this means is you can now have your UI in English and your wordlist in Japanese or vice versa. This is the first step in eventually letting you folks more easily add custom wordlists to the game.

[h3]Holiday Wordlist[/h3]
Not gonna lie, the poet music combined with "Joy to the world" feels super sinister.

Since it’s the holiday season, we thought the perfect way to celebrate would be a themed wordlist! With help from our community we cobbled together this holiday wordlist with words from as many different languages and traditions as we had on our discord server. Please note that this wordlist is incredibly unbalanced, so as we might say in the Philippines, “Play for fun, not for prizes!”

[h3]Difficulty Balancing[/h3]
We hear the consistent concerns regarding the difficulty of the early stages of the game, so we’ve made a few changes to the game that hopefully address the situation.

[h3]Improved English Wordlist (more common words and more two handed words)[/h3]
Some of our players have voiced concerns that the wordlist we use has a lot of uncommon words that make the mental load of typing much more difficult than it needs to be. We’ve also taken the step of specifically adding more two handed words for an easier typing experience especially at the beginning levels. Hopefully this overall brings an improved typing experience for players of all skill levels.

If you feel your non-English language also has similar issues in the game, please let us know and we will do what we can to improve the wordlists there as well.

[h3]Enemy Speed and Spawning Behavior[/h3]
We’ve also globally lowered the speed of the randomly fast enemies that pop up in the game, as well as making some spawning changes in the code that SHOULD prevent the sudden spawning of hordes of enemies all at the same time, which is not intended.

Just back from a short vacation and getting into the swing of things.
Here are a list of changes:

- Fixed additional letter evolutions not triggering on new game with Tesla, Minefield and Blade Trap.
- Lowered opacity of Caltrops to reduce the effect it has on word visibility.

Hello Survival Typists!

We’re back sooner than expected, with a much smaller update this time around.

[h3]Balancing and Late Game Adjustments[/h3]

We are honestly are shocked at how many of you are getting so far into the game, reaching level 1000+ in some cases. This was never our intention, so we’ve made some balancing changes to the game like stronger enemies that should make the late game more challenging.

[h3]Word Rush Bonus[/h3]

We wanted to reward fast typers, so we added a word rush bonus so that they can take advantage of their fast typing skills.

We also added a fix for when fast typers type an enemy word that has been killed by another weapon. We now delay the disappearance of that enemy to allow you to continue typing seamlessly.

[h3]New Enemy : Splitter[/h3]

This update brings a new enemy to torment you! The splitter acts like a regular drone, but the secret is once you destroy it, it splits into…more drones! Make sure you deal with a Splitter before it gets too close because you might suddenly have more enemies than you can deal with.

[h3]New Augments[/h3]
We plan to add new Augments to the game on a regular basis, and this update is no different. This set of Augments brings improvements to D.O.T. and Remote weapons, amongst others.

[h3]Even More Relaxed[/h3]
The relaxed difficulty of the game is now even more relaxed, to give new players a chance to get used to the game mechanics before moving on to more difficult challenges.

[h3]Wiki[/h3]
We now have an external wiki that you can read to understand the core concepts of the game and plan your runs better. The wiki corresponds to your chosen language, but note that not all of the wiki has been localized at this point.

[h3]Licence to Kill[/h3]
Keen eyed speakers of the Queen’s English will note how we spelled license, which means we’re excited to share that we’ve added a version of the wordlist with British spellings of words. We’re updating this over time with suggestions from the community, but till then, the subjects of the King can get cosy in their pyjamas, have a cuppa, and type to survive!

[h3]Future Plans[/h3]
Our solo dev XM is taking a long needed vacation before slowly getting back into building a much bigger update for you in January. Until then, we will still be doing maintenance and bugfixing for the game.
