Now live: version 0.11a of the demo!

A quick update to improve balance and fix a few bugs.
This should reduce Alucard-related frustration, and brings Decromancer back in line now that Graveyards are suited as spades. It also gives more counterplay around Trap Card when the opponent has this card.

- Valentines Card now burns
- Trap Card no longer locks
- Decromancer now has 66 health instead of 99
- adds a description of the gift granted to the description of X Wheel of Fortune after it is played
- makes X Wheel of Fortune visibly move a copy of itself into draw pile when that gift is rolled
- Official Trump Card sets its value back to 0 before you make a choice to make it clear what its effect will be - this was affecting subsequent draws of this card in the same encounter
- fixes a bug where all the card sound effect audio was coming out of the left channel
- fixes a bug where Glitched Card wouldn’t update it’s newly picked value before card effect enacted - was meaning the 5 value didn’t get added before Booster Pack choice when Glitched Card rolled Booster Pack
- fixes a bug where Glitched Card would block hitting or standing if it rolled Gravecard and then Gravecard was clicked

I’m back from holiday and back working on the game! Here are the change notes for the latest demo release, v0.11, which is now live on Steam!
This release adds a new encounter, a new event, and changes the way the game is laid out for better readability and use of screen space. There are also a number of balance changes and bug fixes.
Look out for more coming next week!

New stuff:
- adds a new event to the Basement - it’s a card removal shop!
- new encounter added to the Basement - it’s a familiar face, but with an improved deck since the last time you saw them!
- when Glitched Card is the mystery reward card the whole card back will now have the glitched effect instead of just the corners

Layout changes:
- layout changes so that cards in play are more visible and more cards can be in play at once and still be visible
- changes to spacing of cards in hand so that they don’t overlap the discard piles
- changes the discard pile to a pile that must be clicked on to see the cards in it (like the draw pile)
- lowers the draw and discard pile positions so that text on choices can always be read

Balance changes:
- makes Slime stronger by adding a Get Well Soon Card and a Get Out of Jail Free Card
- makes Alucard stronger by removing some cards that made him bust too often
- changes Sweep the Leg effect to “Set opponent bust limit to 20 and your bust limit to 22 for the rest of this encounter. Burns”
- changes the value of Booster Pack to 5
- Four Mana Seven Seven no longer locks
- VI The Lovers now has hearts as its suit
- changes the value of XVII The Star to 17
- Gravecard now has spades as its suit

Bug fixes:
- add a “final stamp” to the Loyalty Card when it triggers
- changes Magic Trick Card to set its value to 0 on play (before choice made) so that it is more clear what your choice will do on subsequent plays
- fixes a bug where the first potion from loot boxes could be clicked quickly and it wouldn’t have any effect
- fixes a bug where the Loyalty Card couldn’t have its value increased by The Victim Card
- fixes various typos

Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers is part of Tiny Teams Festival this year!

Tiny Teams Festival is a week long festival celebrating small indie developers making awesome games. It runs from Aug 3rd to Aug 10th and I'm so excited to be a part of it!

Now live: version 0.10b of the demo!

New music!
This release adds 3 more music tracks which are randomly selected from at the start of each floor. This isn't the final music, and this isn't the way music will work in the game forever, but it gives everyone’s ears a break from the same 49s loop of music that has been in the game since day 1 😂

Later Poker Player
Swaps the order of the Poker Player and the Janitor so that you have a couple more chances to improve your deck before you face the Poker Player's powerful deck.

Bug fixes
  • Fixes a bug where the Booster Pack would have very strange behaviour when played by the opponent
  • Fixes a bug where you could skip encounters after the Shop and the Trade Offer

The new demo version is live!

New and changed cards:
- SD Card
Take top card from draw pile and add it to your hand, then lock this card. Unlocks when the drawn card is played from hand
Note that this is the old Dark Flower effect

- Booster Pack
Choose one of five random cards and put it in play. Add the other four cards to your hand. Burns

- Dark Flower has a new effect:
Adds to your hand. Locks. Shuffle three Double Back Cards into your draw pile

Changes and bug fixes:
  • Adds some clarity animations to I The Magician to show the cards that are being added to the draw pile
  • Fixes a bug where The Collector could swap the wrong cards
  • Baseball Card now correctly shows its modified value when previewing the draw pile
  • Changes Blood Donor Card to not be able to reduce a card’s value below 0
  • Fixes a bug where you could lock the game by hitting while having no cards in draw and discard pile
