Chronicles of Vaeltaja Demo Update 1.4

Welcome, Traveler,
to enjoy the final update for the Chronicles of Vaeltaja's demo, which finally brings the experience to the technical level of the release version! The major attraction of this update are the new enemy sprites, which also include animated side and back sprites to add immersion when exploring the Great Forest. There are also other fixes and adjustments, which will be detailed below.

But this is not all! In the next coming days I will announce a competition, which involves playing the Chronicles of Vaeltaja's demo version. Three skilled adventures will win a Steam key and a DRM free download of the release version of Chronicles of Vaeltaja: In Search of the Great Wanderer! Stay tuned for more!

Before the patch notes I just want to say that this demo version has been much bigger success than I dared to dream and I've received lots of important, and most of all encouraging, feedback which has helped me to make this demo and also the release version better than ever.

Patch notes:

  • Added new sprites for outlaws, skeletons, wraith and green slime, including side and back sprites when they roam around the Great Forest and the Old Tower
  • Enemy sprites are now scaled to right size
  • Party has now footstep sounds, which change depending on the ground
  • Removed Stealing skill as it has no purpose in the demo version
  • Enemy mobs in the forest will change when you advance in quests
  • Changed proper Game Over screen
  • Changed proper Menu background image
  • Party formation menu now has the right background image

Chronicles of Vaeltaja: In Search of the Great Wanderer Demo Update 1.3

Welcome, traveler!
A surprise update for the Chronicles of Vaeltaja's demo version to fix some issues that invalidated all the previous enemy balancing updates and to add new sprites for some enemies and NPCs! This is probably first of the two last updates, unless there's something that needs to be fixed before the final update.

After the final update there's going to be a small competition, so three lucky ones will win a Steam key for the release version of the game! Stay tuned for more information in the next couple of weeks!

Patch notes:

- Added new side and back sprites for the farmer, farmer's wife and traveling merchant, so they won't just stand and stare player all the time.
- Added new animated overworld sprites for bats and nikarus to make the gameworld more immersive.
- Changed a wrong value in bats' stats, which invalidated earlier balancing updates and made bats stronger than they supposed to be.
- Fixed a bug that prevented player to receive coins at the start, when female character is chosen.
- Raised the amount of coins received in the beginning to 1000.
- Adjusted the size of farmer's and merchant's sprites.
- Adjusted the camera zoom height when talking to male NPCs.

Sorry for the inconvenience, this should finally make things easier in the beginning!

Balancing update and Tutorial video for the Chronicles of Vaeltaja's demo!

Welcome, traveler!

It's now been a month since the Chronicles of Vaeltaja: In Search of the Great Wanderer's demo version was released and the reception has been much better than I thought it would be! I've gotten some great feedback through various channels, such as Discord, that has helped me to adjust the balance of the difficulty, fix bugs and fine tune other things.

Couple of days ago I updated the demo with new battle sprites for bats and wolves, and now it's a time for another update, which brings more balance to the combat and increases experience points and coins gained from the battles.

Patch notes:

- Decreased some stats of the enemies to make them a little bit weaker
- Increased the amount of EXP and coins gained from the battles
- Resting at the farmer's house will now restore hit and energy points to the fallen party members
- Added description to weapon skills

But that's not all! I've also made a tutorial video for the demo, which should help to get things started. It will show how to spend 'stat and skill' points, change equipment and how to use auto-battle feature, among other things.

I'm also happy to announce that I'm currently working on side and back sprites for NPC's and enemies, so the demo might get at least one update once I've finished with them.
