Behind The Scenes: Geeky Edition
Smoke and mirrors
Have you ever wondered how the game might look from "behind the scenes"? It's often quite strange and full of hacks. Smoke and mirrors. The bread and butter of Game Dev.
The RPG is quirky be design on itself. But it's a true rabbit hole inside.
Let's see some examples!
The Main Protagonist
This is a test scene, sort of a playground, where I test new mechanics, items, characters, etc.
This how a player sees it:

And this is what it actually looks like:

Pretty, isn't it?
Debug View
Just a regular converstaion between Protagonist and NPC:

And from the developer's point of view:
Building Blocks, aka "Components"
The game is made with Unity game engine. A common practice is using so called Components. Basically they are pieces of code that you write and attach to an object, like if you were building legos.
Let's take a look at the Protagonist's object's hierarchy, it's nested
(this is not the full picture, it actually goes way deeper than that):

Each of those objects has it's own componts attached to it. Let's take a look at the root object's components set:

If you expand one of those components, you'll see this set of parameters which you can configure:

Of couse it's more complex than that, because you also need to take into account current level, skill upgrades, difficulty settings, etc. That gritty job gets done in the rabbit hole called "source code".
Bonus
The Fan is actually always with you(Protagonist) in the same scene.
He just may become invisible at some portions of the game. But HE. IS. ALWAYS. WITH. YOU.

Yes, his initial position is a bit below you. You may ask why? I don't remember ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's it, folks!
Have a great time and get ready for the adventure, the release will happen this year!

Updates, updates, updates!

The Demo was released at version 0.7.5.17 back in December.
I've been gathering feedback from you, guys, and been making constant updates. Now it's 0.7.5.39.
So we had a whopping 22 iterations since than.
What's been done
• New faction: royal guards
 • New quests
 • New dungeon
 • Huge performance optimizations
 • UI improvements
 • Re-balancing
 • The introduction stage is now more clear with small quests like "Buy a Dagger"
 • Proofreading: less mistakes in dialogues
 • Proper keys rebinding
 • New settings and quaility-of-life things
 • A ton of bug fixes
The Introduction
Also after watching a bunch of let's plays, I took a hard decision for an open world game and decided to lock the Village gates until you beat the very first boss. Let's explain why: in the very first dungeon (Beginner's Floor) you will get a scream/shout, a double jump and a ranged weapon - a mushroom thrower. The game becomes waaay more fun with all of those goodies. And, after that, the Village gates will open and you are free to explore the world!
And I left an option for hardcore players on how to get into the dungeon to an even deeper floor omitting the Village's Dungeon Entrance, haha!

So that's it for now, folks! Adventures await!
Please feel free to leave reviews and posts in discussions, it helps a lot.

Yours,
Dionysus Acroreites
