Devlog #88 - Power Hungry

[p]Greetings Talented Gamers![/p][p][/p][p]Another day, another devlog - and this week we're discussing another expansion of the core Talent Tree with some major additions to the Ability system.[/p][p][/p][p]Before that, I'm very pleased to announce that our second DLC will be announced along side the next Devlog on October 31st (which also happens to be Talented's second anniversary on Steam!)[/p][p][/p][p]As we mentioned in Devlog #85 the second DLC will introduce a new Class, new Game Mode and a new Environment - along with a bunch of Achievements to collect. We'll be discussing each of those in Devlog as we develop them, so stay tuned for that.[/p][p][/p]
Ability Replacement
[p][/p][p]Currently, you're placed in an awkward spot when it comes to deciding which Abilities to learn. Filling up your Ability slots early gives a massive advantage, but that means you're completely locked out of future Abilities that might fit better in your build.[/p][p][/p][p]To make matters worse, if you fill up all of your Ability slots you will no longer be able to learn Abilities from Talent Packages. In extreme cases this can even make certain Talent Packages completely obsolete.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That will be a problem of the past in Update 1.3 as you'll be still be able to learn Abilities even when your slots are full. You can even replace starting Abilities, which could lead to some new, never before seen, strategies![/p][p][/p]
Ability Upgrades
[p][/p][p]We are aware that this will likely mean more Ability nodes that you need to avoid when you don't want to pick up certain abilities. We also know that Abilities can begin to feel less and less in the late game on certain classes.[/p][p][/p][p]To help with this, after all Ability Slots are filled, a certain number of remaining Ability Talents will be replaced by Ability Upgrades (we're currently finding around 50% works best). [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You can choose which Ability you'd like to upgrade and you'll be offered a choice from 3 random Upgrade Scrolls. We currently have a batch of 33 Scrolls with a variety of rarities and specialities, but we'll be keeping a close eye on how this feature is recieved and would be excited to expand it further.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Note on Alchemist: As you can imagine, Alchemist's Ability crafting system doesn't really allign with Ability Upgrades. We're aware that Ability Upgrades give other Classes significant access to additional power - so we will be giving the 3rd and 4th ingredient Abilities additional power. Look out for those in the 1.3 Release Notes![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That's about it for Abilities! Next time we'll be diving into the new DLC with a Class deep dive. Looking forward to it...[/p][p][/p][p]Stay Talented[/p]
