Devlog #91 - Running the Gauntlet

[p]Greetings Talented Gamers![/p][p][/p][p]It's time for another devlog, and this time I wanting to give you a sneek peek of the new Gauntlet Game Mode coming with the Beastmaster's Call DLC.[/p][p][/p][p]You can Wishlist is here so you don't miss it when it's ready:[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]First, I wanted to let you know we've made the difficult decision to delay the DLC until early 2026. While most of the core content is on track to be in place for our planned release date next month. We want to make sure we have the time to refine and polish it to a level we're happy with. Thank you for your patience![/p][p][/p][p]With that said... let's talk about this new mode...[/p][p][/p]
Entering The Gauntlet
[p][/p][p]Gauntlet Mode is designed with shorter play sessions in mind. It changes both how your build you character and how the enemies appear and evolve as the run goes on.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Instead of waiting until the end of the Night, whenever you Level Up you will instantly be given a choice of 3 Talents. The rarities increase the higher level you are and, on average, you'll be accessing high rarity Talents earlier in the Gauntlet than other modes.[/p][p][/p][p]You'll also be able to reroll, giving you access to a fresh choice of 3 Talents. Every run will begin with 3 free rerolls, but you'll be able to access more through Consumables (we'll talk about those shortly).[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The second big change coming with Gauntlet Mode is permanent health. In this mode, your health will not fully restore at the end of each Night. That being said, all classes will be starting the run with a much bigger health pool. [/p][p][/p][p]This makes you much less likely to be taken out by a handful of enemies hitting you in a few seconds but makes taking chip damage each night a bigger concern.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You might be wondering how enemies become more threatening... This is where the Talent Tree gets involved.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In Gauntlet Mode the skill tree acts as your path between combat encounters. Meanwhile, the tree is covered in Challenge Badges that enhance enemies. You must carefully choose which bonuses enemies get access to as you ascend the tree with the goal of getting to the very top where you take on one final Night and (hopefully) win the run![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Enemy boosting Badges have their own rarity scale starting at Warm and moving all the way up to Inferno. There are also enemy synergies to avoid or chase if you're looking for a particularly hard challenge![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]But fear not... Enemy upgrades aren't the only thing on the tree, they will also be the way you access our new Consumables.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]These items are single use and give you an instant bonus. Traversing the tree carefully to gain access to consumables you need without collecting a bunch of unwanted Difficulty Badge combinations will be the key to your success.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]There's lots to explore with Gauntlet Mode, we've only just scratched the surface! Next time we'll be going over the different difficulty options and how you can unlock a boatload of Shiny Skins! Until then...[/p][p][/p][p]Stay Talented[/p]
