Hotfix April 16th

The team made a few quick fixes to address issues which were introduced in yesterdays Movement update.

  • Geb Rollout Ability (1)
  • Fixed an issue with knockback and broken rocks animation
  • Fixed an issue where players could get stuck in pebbles/rocks animation on close range hits
  • Added April 16th: Fixed an issue where Thanatoast would become a big piece of toast after his Ult.

New Movement System!

We’re excited to introduce an experimental movement system in today’s hotfix, which we believe will greatly enhance the overall feel of gameplay in SMITE 2. Normally, we work hard to keep your client and the server perfectly in sync with your position on the map. However, occasional mismatches can occur, resulting in sudden snaps or hitching.

Our new system helps minimize these issues by having your client “replay” your movements so you stay closer to where you expect to be. While this won’t fully eliminate sudden snaps or hitching, it should significantly reduce them and provide a smoother experience overall.

Because this is a major feature, there may be scenarios we haven’t fully accounted for yet. We’re closely monitoring your feedback during this first iteration, and we’ll make rapid, meaningful improvements based on what we learn. Thank you for testing this new system and helping us continue to refine SMITE 2!

Cerberus Aspect Live and Hotfix

The Warden of the Underworld has gained newfound power on the Battleground! Blast your enemies away with Ghastly Breath using Cerberus' Aspect - LIVE NOW in SMITE 2!

Also today's hotfix made a number of balance changes and bug fixes.


  • Fixed an issue where Nu Wa was inadvertently damaging enemy gods when they respawn

  • Fixed an issue with Hecate sound effects not playing

  • Fixes were made around the Draft Lobby god grid which should improve navigation

  • Assault - T1 Towers have been buffed

  • Deserter Penalties have been adjusted.

    • Tier 1 - 5 Minutes

    • Tier 2 - 20 Minutes

    • Tier 3 - 1 Hour

    • Tier 4 - 12 Hours

    • Tier 5 - 24 hours

    • Deserter Cool Down has increased from 24 hours to 72.

    • Decreased initial Explosion Damage Scaling from 65% to 40% of your Protections.

    • Increased second Explosion Damage Scaling from 65% to 70% of your Protections.

    • Decreased Passive damage from 20 + 1.5 Per Level to 15 + 1 Per Level

    • Decreased Passive Attack Speed from 20% to 15%

We’ve had three hotfixes since OB7 shipped. Here’s a quick summary of what’s been resolved:

  • Fixed shader precaching issue causing load-in freezes.

  • Fixed Merlin's ability not hitting the totem.

  • Fixed acquisition screen not closing.

  • Fixed God stats in the HU Editor.

  • Resolved the persistent ghost red dot in player profiles.

  • Fixed gamepad issue preventing God lock-in on Xbox.

  • Addressed cursor loss in draft lobbies.

  • Resolved focus loss and coin purchase bug in Wandering Market.

  • Adjusted VGS for global emotes.

  • Fixed acquisition notifications in Wandering Market.

  • Fixed Chaac’s ability not hitting stealth targets.

  • Corrected VO issues with Ra’s Oblivion Tier skin.

  • Resolved mastery progress showing as incorrect God.

  • Fixed pricing error for Hydra's Lament.

  • Fixed Wandering Market coin progress resetting on login.

  • Kali Reveal Incoming – New god Kali drops in OB8!

  • Item Specialization Wave 1 – New items + major balance shifts.

  • Possible Movement System Rework – Flash test is live now after the show!

  • Still under investigation—some users report fixes after toggling vibration settings or unplugging peripherals (like a mouse).

  • If you're affected, try toggling vibration OFF then ON again in settings.
[h3] God Builder Update[/h3]

  • God Builder is nearing completion and may launch in OB8.

  • Still missing polish and auto-build integration, but usable for player testing and feedback.
[h3] No Skins Toggle[/h3]

  • A “no skins” mode won’t be added.

  • Skins are a core monetization element and visual customization is part of the appeal.

  • Clarity efforts continue (like God name display in combat and pre-match screens).
[h3] Wind Sprites Feedback[/h3]

  • Devs heard feedback around Wind Sprites being usable while crippled—being reviewed.

  • Wind Sprites will persist longer after use to allow chases.

  • Sprite quantity on the map may be reduced for balance.
[h3] Prisms and Legacy Gems[/h3]

  • Prisms currently require Diamonds.

  • No current plans to support Legacy Gems, but other unlock options are being explored.

  • Devs are exploring new cosmetics like kill effects and potentially HUD skins down the line.

  • HUD skins were expensive in SMITE 1, but tech improvements in SMITE 2 may allow more options.

  • New licensing program allows players/artists to create and sell SMITE merchandise using official IP.

  • Lifetime revenue cap applies before revenue sharing is required.

  • OB7 launch and Supporter Store performance has been strong .

  • Combination of Supporter Store and Wandering Market boosted revenue significantly.

  • Tech is being built, possibly by RallyHere.

  • No concrete system yet, but it’s in active development.
[h3] Free Currency Update[/h3]

  • Wandering Market Coins = main free earnable currency.

  • No plans to add a new free currency at this time.
[h2] Movement Rework & Flash Test[/h2]
A new movement system is being tested now!
[h3] Why It Matters:[/h3]

  • Better synchronization between client/server movement.

  • Reduces “rubber banding” and improves responsiveness—especially on high ping.

  • Based on Unreal Engine 5’s Saved Movement tech.
