Combat BOOST Patch

Yo!

Just before 2025 is here, we wanted to quickly fix and patch a couple things:

  1. Yeah, we amped difficulty a bit too much when you completed the game.

    We like the added challenge, but the extra difficulty is now opt-in.
    After you complete a run, you'll see a new knob in the hangar that lets you tune the difficulty up or down.

  2. Locomotion on PC VR had slight inconsistencies. It should feel & play better now.

  3. Flip controls setting (VIVE, Index) stopped flipping the controls on PC.
    Now they flip just like the good ol' days!

  4. Some language packs got updates, especially русский which had an annoying visual issue.

the COMBAT BOOST update

Sup everyone!
We're glad to introduce the Xmas update you didn't know you needed!
Strap up, there's a lot of new shit:


We found a new supplier of Bombots and now have 3 new Bombots types in the game; Red, yellow and blue. Each of the new bombots explosions deal a different status effect; Overheat, Shock and Turbo.




Ripping enemies is now more fun and more effective, making double grabber builds viable.
Just yank them hard to deal a shitton of damage - the harder you yank, the deader they get.



We rewrote how the level algorithm selects and spawns enemies.
Levels are now more procedurally generated, making combat feel fresh and ensuring variety every run.


To celebrate Xmas and the first coming of Shanta, we've bestowed Jingle Balls (AKA Festicles) upon all the enemies in the game (except Pricella, because... well...).




Alphadogs are now more fun to play against.
Their attacks more predictable - they lock in on a target and charge at it from a distance, with little ability to change course.

They can also be countered while attacking.
Alphas no longer go Turbo while attacking, and don't intercept anything around - so if you evade well enough you can smack'em upside the head.



Overall, Alphas are no longer a "stop everything and run" enemy - they're now more of a "focus and time your attack" enemy.


We changed repairs so you're never stuck without them, but find yourself closer to death more frequently.

we have a ton of small improvements to the game, balance tweaks and bug fixes.

Introducing: THE BUZZSAW! (Duh...)

The Buzzsaw has been a long time coming - not only does it appear in our cover art, but it is also one of the first weapons ever prototyped in UNDERDOGS, and the second most requested feature.
We're excited with how it came out and glad to make good on our promise!

This update includes quite a bit of other changes, here are the main ones:
  • [h3]THE BUZZSAW[/h3]

The Buzzsaw and its three unique addons are now available from ACT I. They appear in shops and hails, but particularly Apache's patron rewards changed to Advanced Tech (such as the Buzzsaw), and Nait now has more chance of having the Buzzsaw addons.
You can try out the buzzsaw immediately from the main menu!
  • News runs now start with a random unlocked weapon! This can be toggled off by checking the Vanilla Rilla checkbox in the Hangar.
  • Ussam got a major behavior boost. He's now more dangerous and requires higher skill to finish off.
  • Jacks' got some love - their physics respond better, their arms are easier to destroy, and we've added a mini-jack at the end of Day 4 as preparation for the new Ussam.
  • NPC and Item unlocks relaxed - more items and NPCs are available from the beginning of the career, and number of possbile item unlocks per run increased.
  • Added RUSSIAN!
  • Added Auto-Skip Seen Cutscenes option to the Settings.
  • Sandboxxer Challenges unlock conditions relaxed.
  • Fixed adult filter on king’s voice lines in Quest 2
