Amygdala v2.8 - Gameplay Overhaul, Improvement & New Content

Hi everyone!

This is the fourth day of the game's release, I'm happy to see that all the previous fixes made resolve most of the issues, both bug related and game optimization related.



So in these two days I dedicated myself to improving the overall gaming experience. I've seen several streamers playing Amygdala, collected feedback and listened to all the doubts related to some mechanics, so...Today Amygdala is updated to version 2.8!

An important note below:

If you started the game on previous versions, you may encounter bugs due to the conflict between an old and new version of the game, this is because big changes have been made between one version and another, I therefore invite everyone to play a new game in order to avoid bugs.

I know this may be frustrating for some, but it improves the overall experience.

[h3]Gameplay:[/h3]
  • General: All general collisions have been improved, it is now easier to pick up keys and interact with gates.
  • General: All initial tutorials have now been moved to the HUB, plus some last longer before disappearing to allow for better reading
  • Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge: The way up has been further improved, collisions now let the player go up without too many problems and there is now an arrow to indicate the beginning of the path.
  • Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge: The books to take now have a bright outline, which makes them more visible and clear in interaction.



  • Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge: The books now have Roman numerals on the pages, which better identify which mouth it should be given to.
  • Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge: in the environment near the mouths to feed there are now symbols that identify which books I want to eat.



  • Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge: Fixed some things related to the AI, it is now much slower and tries to attack you from a greater distance, this will make it more difficult to body block you.
  • Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge: New path have been added, this will allow you to bypass monsters in case its AI freezes, this prevents it from body blocking you.
  • Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge: Some "necks" of the small mouths have been shrunk, now it is possible to take the key without having to necessarily feed all three mouths in the corridor. This change favors different gameplay approaches.
  • Nightmare of Beauty: Fixed some things related to the AI, it is now much slower and tries to attack you from a greater distance, this will make it more difficult to body block you.
  • Nightmare of Beauty: New path have been added, this will allow you to bypass monsters in case its AI freezes, this prevents it from body blocking you.
  • Nightmare of Beauty: Changed the positioning of some levers outside the cells, so it is possible to open them from the inside if you lock yourself inside.
  • Big Heads Nightmare: Altars now have different colored and glowing symbols that identify which heads to place.



  • Big Heads Nightmare: Rooms that have heads for altars now have symbols on them that better identify the importance of the room and which head is for which altar.


[h3]New Content:[/h3]
  • Steam: New steam achievement "Echo - Amygdala 1994.07.31" Get one echo inside the Amygdala 1994.07.31.
  • General: Added documents that justify and insert into the game lore all the changes made at the gameplay level.
  • Amygdala HUB: There are five new echoes inside the HUB.
  • Amygdala HUB: The paths in the side stairs have been cleared, you can now go under the absolute judge without having to climb up the books in a tricky way.
  • Amygdala HUB: Fixed some books clipping in bookshelves.
  • Big Heads Nightmare: Added audio files for an "angry personality" head (one of the three heads that must be brought to the altar).


Thank you all for your feedback and patience. I definitely plan to add more (free) content to the title in the future. I currently have no further patches in the works, for now I will collect more feedback for future updates.

PS. I am also collecting feedback to adjust the minimum and recommended requirements on the Steam page.

Amygdala - Major Performance Optimizations & Bug Fixing

Hi everyone!


This is the second day of release for Amygdala and I have worked hard to promptly resolve all the various problems, today's update which is now available is the biggest and improves various aspects of the game, especially performance;



The changes made are mainly:

[h3]Performance:[/h3]
  • At everyone's advice, excessive motion blur has been removed.
  • Streaming management of levels (loading) has been improved.
  • The total weight of the game has been reduced from +7GB to 1.3GB.
  • Other minor adjustments

[h3]Bug Fixies & others:[/h3]
  • Fixed the "Rusty Key Mid Floor" key not properly opening the gate inside the Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge. (If you had already found the key it may still not work, but in the same place where you found the previous one the working one may have appeared)
  • Added organic decorative elements to the gate in Mid Floor, Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge to make it clearer which part of the gate is interactable with the key.
  • The way to climb in the Nightmare of Insatiable Knowledge at the beginning has been improved, improving collisions, now it is easier (will be improved more in the future with updates)
  • Now you can no longer bring objects into the safe rooms: This created problems, such as the disappearance of books or other things.
  • A lore-friendly document has been inserted regarding the impossibility of bringing objects into the safe rooms.
  • Added controller compatibility to the steam page (if there are any compatibility problems let me know) | Although I recommend playing the title with mouse and keyboard


Now I will wait for your feedback to understand how to proceed further;
By the end of next week I will take a break of about 1 week but then I will actively return to work!

Also I wanted to say that I saw the Preview Key requests for streamers & curators via email, I'm not ignoring you, after the break I will check all the emails carefully and I will try to answer you!

Amygdala - Hotfix & General Update

Amygdala was released yesterday but some annoying bugs have undermined the experience of some, some hotfixes have been released and correct most of the problems, especially the softlock ones!

Thanks for all the feedback, I also want to encourage those who enjoyed the experience and were lucky enough not to run into any serious bugs to share their review on steam, it helps a lot!




Last night I also took a look at Twitch, it was nice to see the game streamed and also very informative on some corrections to be made!

The released patches resolve the following issues:

  • Bigger Keys - Now the keys are bigger it should be easier to see them, if you still have problems let me know and I will find a better solution to make them more visual.
  • Fixed the bug in the "insatiable knowledge" level - When approaching a book to feed the mouth-shaped creatures, a bug may occur that causes the hud to disappear and therefore the possibility of interactions, this bug should be resolved, However, I recommend throwing the book at the creatures to avoid possible problems... it's even more fun!. (once you have them in your hand, press mouse 1 to throw them)
  • Fixed some bugs where there were no collisions in the large holes on the wall in the second part of the nightmare of the big head;
  • The trigger box for the gramophone kinematics is now larger.
  • FIX 2: Now there is some keys at the end of the nightmares and at the beginning of the nightmare of insatiable knowledge, in case you are softlocated they should help you unlock the contextual path. And add this feature to make sure you are no longer softlocker here: when you take the key an anomaly made a glitch on the screen will make you understand that the door has been unlocked or destroyed by the key collection event. It's possible that the key remains in the inventory as a... souvenir from the Absolute Judge.
  • Improved collisions for climbing onto books and added wooden beams to make climbing to the start of the Insatiable Knowledge level easier.
  • In the level of insatiable knowledge the two keys now have different names to better identify them, furthermore the first key is removed from the inventory after use.
  • Bugs have been fixed in the level of insatiable knowledge where creatures with book-shaped heads did not perform some animations correctly.
  • Fixed a bug with a "Happy Family" steam achievement, now you unlock it correctly after catching the small insect hidden in the beauty's nightmare.
  • added some Echo dococument to make "bugs" and "reporting them"... lore friendly.

Hi everyone!
It was very nice to see you playing live and it helps a lot to solve bugs and fix some things!

This hotfix solve the following problems:

Hotfix 1

- Added an extra key to the end of Nightmares in case the end doors don't open properly
