August Round-Up! 🗺️
Hi Seedlings!
[p][/p][p]I hope everyone had a great summer! These past few months have been incredibly for us with game developement. With the new areas coming together nicely, we figured this monthly round-up is a good time to give everyone an early preview![/p][p][/p]
New Areas!
[p]ICYMI, last month we’ve shared some blurred teasers of our new maps, and this time we are excited to show them in full HD. (We’d have loved to do it in 4K but alas, upload size limit…)[/p][p] [/p][p]The Brazen Plains is a vast open area surrounded by mountains. Numerous creatures roam the plains, and the surrounding mountains have all the nooks and crannies (and a MASSIVE lake) for you to explore.[/p][p] [/p][p]The Volcano is a blazing inferno filled with environmental hazards and dangerous creatures. Mind your steps, and don't step on the lava![/p][p] [/p][p][/p][p]Here’s another new area not included in last month’s screenshots – the Scrapshire Village. Populated by quirky characters (you might spot some speech bubbles in the backdrop), you can take on many fun challenges for bountiful rewards![/p][p] [/p][p]Aside from the maps, we’ve been working on new body parts for the full game. Below is a screenshot of some of them combined on a single creature. What creatures do you think they belong to? Take a guess, and we’ll talk about them in the next monthly blog![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Community Creations
[p]Before we go, let's check out what bizarre life forms our community made in the last month. We’ve received a number of awesome submissions from our Discord member Deathclawstudios. Here are some of their cool designs![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]This dragonfly has some impressive stats: over 200 stamina! That looks more than enough to soar across any map with ease![/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p]They also recreated other IRL animals like a vulture and a fly with tools available in the demo. Look at the vulture spreading its massive wings![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]While this is all for this blog post, we'll be sharing more about the full game in the upcoming round-ups! Be sure to follow us on our socials and check back in next month![/p][p][/p][p]Twitter YouTube TikTok [/p]

July Round-Up! 🗺️
Hi Seedlings!
[p][/p][p]Over May and June, we've implemented various updates to polish the demo in both gameplay and visuals. After consolidating the existing content in our demo, we feel it is time to start working on the next steps of Strange Seed. Here's a little (blurry) teaser on a couple of the new maps that we've been making![/p][p][/p]
New Areas Sneak Peek🖼️
[carousel][/carousel][p]The screenshots here only show 2 of the several new areas that we've been preparing for the full game. We want to make sure each of them will offer a different experience so we've been putting a lot of thought into laying down a large variety of puzzles, missions and enemies to make every map feel intriguing and distinct. Be ready for new encounters and new challenges![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]New Area, New NPCs[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
An Indie Games Celebration! 🌏
[p][/p][p]Going into August, Strange Seed will be make an appearance at another exciting Steam event: the East Asia Indie Games Celebration (Aug 5-19). We are very grateful for being accepted to this event in recognition of our Asian team members' contribution to this evolutionary RPG. Check out their absolutely massive collection of awesome indie games from East Asia![/p][p][/p]
Community Creations🎨
[p]Now it's time to look at our community's creative designs again. As always, our players came up with some bizarre rather critters. Here are a couple designs by orinz:[/p][p][/p][p]A colorful cryptid, this creature not only has insect body parts, but also makes use of the cyborg tail to repel enemies with lethal stings![/p][p][/p][p]A giant, enemy spider. For a cosmetic creature it is surprisingly capable in combat, with both offensive and defensive abilities alongside a solid stat line.[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you for joining us for this community round-up. More exciting news is coming soon, so keep a lookout on our socials for more updates![/p][p][/p][p]Twitter YouTube TikTok [/p]

June Round-Up! 🍖
Greetings seedlings!
[p][/p][p]The July heat is coming in full swing. Our Pink Blob already took out its sunglasses to enjoy the summer beach. Our devs, though, decided to stay out of the scorching sun to work on the next batch of update instead. Here’s what we have for this monthly round-up! [/p][p][/p]
More Visual Updates!
[p]You might have noticed our game looks a little different from before – that’s because we sneaked in another visual update in June! A couple highlights of the changes:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]In the evolution panel, body part changes now trigger an animation to add more character and energy to our little Pink Blob (plus it is a nice visual indicator of body part changes).[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The nest UI now recolors depending on which area you are in, to give your nest a more thematic look.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]There are also changes to visuals including particles and colors in the demo. You can see more details (and all our past updates) on our Steam update thread.[/p][p][/p]
Canadian Games Sale
[p][/p][p]Strange Seed will soon take part in the Canadian Games Sale! From July 1 to July 7, over 300 games from the land of maple, including us, will be on display! Check out all the promising upcoming games and exciting released titles here.[/p][p][/p]
Community Creations
[p]After covering all the monthly news, it’s time to share all the bizarre life forms designed by our creative community![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Our Discord member silly lil goober made a creature so fast it might have broken the chicken head part when it goes zoom (But this is too funny so I think we’re just going to leave it. It’s a bug feature.)[/p][p][/p][p]A creepy creation by Gear. Why does it look like it has an explosive temper?[/p][p][/p][p]And that's all we've got for this monthly round-up! Join our Discord server to talk about Strange Seed and share your own peculiar creature designs! Follow our Twitter, YouTube and TikTok for the latest news of Strange Seed![/p]

May Round-Up! 🍖
Welcome back seedlings!
[p]
Have you noticed Strange Seed is a bit different from how it was two months ago? That's right, we've introduced multiple updates to the game over the last two months! Let's jump right in and see what's new!

[/p]
Sneaky Updates
[p]Throughout April and May, we’ve been sneaking in an array of control optimizations, control bug fixes, new content and more to flesh out the demo! Here are a couple of highlights:
Pink blob can now glide with beetle wings!

Certain NPCs now have tombstones, and some can be revived for a cost...[/p][p][/p][p]Scroll down to the bottom of this blog post for the full list of changes. [/p]
Steam Events
[p]You can also find our pink blob in multiple events in May. We started the month with Indie Assemble, a global indie game festival organized by Excaliber. With 600 development studios participating, this event showcased over 1,000 released titles and upcoming games from May 5 to May 11.

We also collect creatures… with our bellies. Right after Indie Assemble, from May 12 to May 19, we took part in the Creature Collector Fest alongside many other titles that feature unique and bizarre creatures!

[/p]
Strange Creatures by Our Fans
[p]Before we wrap up today’s blog post, let’s check out what peculiar life forms our community came up with during May!

We don’t currently have frogs in the Strange Seed but that doesn’t seem to stop our players from making their own! Here is an attempt by Chonk to recreate the amphibian in the game. There’s even a tadpole stage being shared on the Discord channel!

This gentleman named Scrunkly is the creation of Grimluck the Golem. Not sure if this is intentional but the stag beetle mandibles do resemble a moustache, and pairs quite well with the hat.

And finally, we have the Wiggler from Chile Dawg, a creature that's 90% neck. If you don't want to drown, just evolve your neck longer than the water level.

If you're interested in sharing your own creature creations, join our Discord server!

That's all for May. See you all next month, and follow us on Twitter, YouTube and TikTok for all the latest news (and memes) of Strange Seed!
