BEFORE YOU BUY!

BEFORE YOU BUY!

Hello everyone! It's Joure and Joe here. As two indie developers, we value transparency and want you to be fully informed before you decide to buy our game. So, here are some things you should know about DON’T SCREAM:
WHO ARE WE?
We're just two indie devs pouring our heart and soul into this game. We're not a big corporation, just two passionate gamers like you!
WHAT IS DON'T SCREAM?
At its core, think of DON'T SCREAM as a scare simulator - but not just any simulator. It's pretty terrifying and perfect for scaring the pants off your friends and family! However, that doesn't mean that we won't expand upon the gameplay and make it into something more. During our Early Access phase, we'll actively listen to your feedback to enhance the game and plan on adding the following:

• New and Dynamic Scares (focusing on pure "tension" building)
• Expansion of Game Lore
• Optional Objectives (learn more about Pineview Forest)
• Steam Achievements
• Steam Trading Cards
• Localization Support
• Full Controller Support
• New Landmarks and Structures in the Forest
• Game Optimization
• Additional Settings Options
• And more

We have so many ideas and improvements for the game, this is only the beginning!
HOW MUCH IS DON'T SCREAM?
We recognize that times are challenging right now. Everyone is doing their best to save money, and we want as many people as possible to enjoy DON'T SCREAM. That's why we've set the Early Access price at approximately $9 USD. However, the final price may vary based on player feedback and the introduction of additional content to the game.
BUGS
Remember, playing DON'T SCREAM during Early Access will come with some bugs and rough edges. This isn't the final version. By joining us now, you're not just playing early; you're helping us make it better.
MICROPHONE NEEDED
DON’T SCREAM requires a microphone to play. While you can bypass this, where's the fun in that?
HEADSET/HEADPHONES RECOMMENDED
For the best experience, we suggest using a headset.
GAME LORE
While DON’T SCREAM doesn't have a traditional story mode, it's filled with hidden lore for those eager to dive deeper. We want you to learn more about Pineview Forest, and as stated above, we plan to add much more story/lore to the game!
UNREAL ENGINE 5
We harnessed the power of Unreal Engine 5 to deliver a stunning VHS aesthetic. However, achieving this aesthetic has its trade-offs with performance. We're constantly working on optimization, but there are limits to performance enhancements without compromising the artistic and visual fidelity we've envisioned. Below are our minimum and recommended specs:

MINIMUM:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / Processor Intel i5 9600K
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia 1660 Super 6 GB / 5600 XT 8 GB
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 12 GB available space
Additional Notes: Microphone Required - Headset + SSD Highly Recommended

RECOMMENDED:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 11 (64 bit)
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X / Intel Core i5-12600K
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB / RX 6700 XT GAMING 12GB
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 12 GB available space
Additional Notes: Microphone Required - Headset + SSD Highly Recommended

Please note: We've tested DON'T SCREAM on low-spec PCs, and it does run smoothly. However, due to the demanding nature of Unreal Engine 5, the frame rates might not be sky-high. That said, keep in mind this isn't a fast-paced first-person shooter. You don't need a super high fps count to enjoy our game. As you wander and immerse yourself in the scares, even modest, smooth frame rates will do the trick!

PLAY AS INTENDED

Before playing DON’T SCREAM; please play the game as we intended – this means setting up your microphone correctly. Here’s how to do that. You should only speak quietly, not loudly, with slight gasps or sudden noises counting as screams. This is designed to enhance the challenge and horror atmosphere of the game. If you speak too loudly and your voice exceeds the threshold of the microphone divider line, a red flash will appear on the screen, signalling a scream.

It's up to you to find a comfortable balance between speaking softly and what should be considered a scream when you calibrate your microphone. You should determine the best distance to position the microphone from your mouth for optimal results. Please be aware that external audio software can impact your game's microphone calibration, so please check your software settings if issues arise. Adjust settings in both your game and audio software for optimal calibration.
