We'd like to make a quick mention that the High Command tools are being shipped from Dallas to Portland this week and should be operational again within the next 2 weeks. We also have active development underway (still) by B2K on HC Tools 2.0 which will eventually replace the older tools. Thanks for your patience to all High Command officers as we work to get this once again operational.

S! all keep up the great work and working as a team. I also want to welcome our new AHC officer pfipfu welcome to the AHC family.

Combat After Action Report: Feb. 22 Allied force started armor column to Thulin with fort mobile spawns and ATG guns. We kept pounding the town for 1 hour and half nobody give up the German had it well defends also . Allied finally cracked open the town the Germans surrender to us . The Germans were hitting Valenciennes but it’s a slow attack for them. German still control a lot of the forward bases.

Allied Officer of the week:

Allied Player of the week:

Foe2: For his consistent efforts in defending Allied towns that were in need.

Allied Squad of the week:

Allied forces are doing really great with COMM’s. and marking enemy sighting. I highly encourage everyone join discord because it so much quicker on response time for our AOS and DOS. Sighting with the enemies. The main focus I want to work on is the fbs when the Germans have a Ao on one of the towns we need to have a squad to work over to the fb and start busting it. For each FMS we need to have some armor start rolling with it to town.

[Devs update] 64bit Beta Release Plan

From our President XOOM:
The Development and Quality Assurance teams here at CRS are rapidly closing in on deploying 64-Bit Open Beta. Today we're going outline our general plan and help set expectations for release, but the short version is - we're aiming for the end of next week to start Open Beta. As a reminder, our first goal here is to make the WWII Online application(s) (PC and Mac) 64-bit compatible. This means that all Mac users who have upgraded to the latest OS can return and play WWIIOL, and it will future proof all PC users for the likely requirement of Windows have 64-bit clients. To our Mac users, thanks for your patience ~ we know this took longer than expected. This release will mark one of our most important promised deliveries from one of our funding campaigns. Please continue reading for more details about the Beta and release plans.

FINALIZING THE OPEN BETA CLIENT

Today our team is creating brand new builds for the Open Beta client which will then be distributed. Our QA (Quality Assurance) team will then be doing a pass over conducting regression testing this weekend to once again verify that things are solid. Once this is confirmed, we'll have a larger internal presence to do some important testing Monday - Wednesday.

OPEN BETA

After our team(s) internally have conducted due diligence testing, we'll then allow for the general player base to download and login and test for Open Beta for approximately 1 week. We're asking that as many of you as you can conduct testing. Your client will install into a Beta directory, so you can login and play both the regular campaign and do testing safely.

LIVE SERVER RELEASE

Providing Open Beta went smooth and we're confident to proceed, we will look at deploying the new 64-bit client release onto the Campaign server. Much like what we did with 1.36 (Hybrid Supply), we'll have anywhere from 7-10 days of regular game play and a last chance opportunity to make any corrections necessary before inviting the masses back.

WHAT WILL THE 64BIT CLIENT INCLUDE?

It is solely designed to make it 64bit compatible application and on day 1 you won't see much of a difference. There might be some subtle improvements with performance, but graphically things will remain as they are.

Please set expectations accordingly.

It opens the technological door for us to achieve more in the future like expanding current tech caps / limitations, but this will take additional engineering to fulfill.

REMINDER: FREE EVENT ON 8th MARCH 2020

Don't forget to sign up to our free role play event on Sunday 8th March 2020. Steam players will be grouped in a single mission on both sides and be lead into a furious battle by our developers! See here

SUPPORT GAME DEVELOPMENT

Past month has seen an increase in overall subscriptions and sales, thank you for your continuous support! This keeps us going further!

(Free role play event) Operation Fury IV 8th March 2020 6PM (GMT) - sign up!

Attention all soldiers! On March 8th 2020 at 6PM (GMT) the organic community will be hosting a live server role play event which is our fourth installment of, “Operation Fury”. This is the ultimate visualization of World War II Online with hundreds of infantry, guns, tanks and planes!

Steam players are welcome to participate and I propose to regroup you in two independent combined-arms "support Brigades" (one Allied and one Axis) that will be attached to the official side command. If a group becomes too large, we could further divide it into smaller battalions. Squads can participate and keep their own leadership.

Let's show these organic veterans how fearless and efficient Steam players can be!

Read bellow how to sign up for free. I will update the orbat with the tags, role and country of players that signed up.

WHAT IS THIS EVENT?

Operation Fury is designed to be like a realism/roleplay event, with pre-event sign ups, with a fall-in command structure to maximize success and cohesion on the battlefield.

This will be a CRS (Developers) led event on both sides happening simultaneously worldwide and we expect ferocious fighting, featuring both returning veterans, existing players and our new Steam users. The objective (Town) will be announced a few hours before the start, according to the campaign situation. Both teams will then clash into each other!

By signing up to this event, you agree to be online for the duration of the event and follow your commanders in a “role play” like fashion. It will be held on the live game server and the campaign outcomes will remain. This will not be scripted in terms of the battles, only the hierarchy. All infantry access will be unlocked during the event so Free Players can try out new equipment and continue to support the battle(s).

The roles will be defined live during the event, but the objective is to all stick together and fight for a single objective (town).

WHEN WILL THIS EVEN START AND HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

It will start on Sunday March 8th 2020 at
  • 10AM Pacific (Server Time GMT -8 )
  • 12PM Central
  • 1PM Eastern
  • 6PM England (GMT)

Typically these sort of events last at least 4 hours and upwards to 6-8. With this sort of advanced notice, you should plan on keeping your schedule a bit clear and focus on having a hardcore day of WWII Online with everyone playing their hardest.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING EXTRA?

No, just have an active play-able subscription and you can join the event.

[dev update] Modular Trench "Mobile Spawn"

Telegram from XOOM:

Today we're ecstatic to reveal the first pass of our Modular Trench "Mobile Spawn," which will be deployable by TRUCKS only like all other mobile spawns in WWII Online. We also have a couple of items to cover which include 64-bit open beta reminder, and another survey designed to help us improve connections all around the world with our new ISP. Continue reading this article to see pictures of the new Modular Trench "Mobile Spawn," and those additional items.

MODULAR TRENCH "MOBILE SPAWN"

The Modular Trench system was recently announced and with that we discussed a Mobile Spawn would be created to help amplify these trench systems. These Mobile Spawns will only be deployable by Trucks (all current trucks that deployable existing mobile spawn objects), and only Infantry can spawn from the Modular Trench Spawn.

The following pictures represent a work in progress, and may not show the final outcome.

The top two pictures show the actual Mobile Spawn object, where as the lower picture shows the Mobile Spawn connected to other trench pieces.

64-BIT OPEN BETA TESTING INBOUND

In case you missed our announcement last week, we're approaching 64-bit open beta testing. This is a HUGE development! Our Quality Assurance team is conducting internal testing now and things are looking good. We will need some assistance in testing, to get involved please go to our forum post here looking for assistance.

ROUTING / PING SURVEY

CRS is continuing to work on improving routing and ping times to our servers now in Portland OR. Your assistance is requested by filling out this survey (carefully - minor technical requirements needed) so that we can have actionable intelligence from specific use-cases (aka: individual scenarios from customers).

64-Bit Client Nearing BETA

Telegram from XOOM:

One of the great objectives CRS has had for sometime now is releasing the 64-Bit version of our World War II Online client, and I am pleased to report that our team is putting the final pieces together for an Open BETA which will act as the precursor to the official release. Since our original release WWIIOL has always been a 32-bit client and this marks a massive technological door opening. Please continue reading to learn about 64-Bit, Open BETA and how you can help, and what WWIIOL will be gaining by this.

64-BIT RELEASE ESTIMATION

We are anticipating release of the WWIIOL 64-Bit Client between February and March 2020. This will include the Mac and PC versions.

HOW IS TESTING GOING?

Our Quality Assurance team is feeling pretty confident now after some kinks have been worked out and things are looking good. Only a couple of ticketed items are remaining. The real test will be its deployment to the live server and seeing how things go.

WILL THERE BE A BETA TEST PERIOD?

Yes! We will have a BETA server available for users to login and test before it reaches the live server, we are approaching that stage and will require testers to assist.

If you are interested in supporting that effort, please contact our Quality Assurance team lead at [email protected].

WHAT WILL BE GAINED BY THIS RELEASE?

Mac users will be able to upgrade to the latest version of their Operating System and continue to play WWII Online. It will set ourselves up for success with PC users as well as likely the natural trend in the future for Windows will be to rid of 32-bit support, just as Mac recently has done.

But most importantly, it is a massive technological door opening for WWII Online. It will give us the ability to leverage hardware and software going forward in ways that our current 32-Bit client will not allow us to achieve.

It is important to note that the first release of 64-Bit is simply making World War II Online's game client 64-Bit compatible, and that's it. Please set expectations accordingly.

IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP?

YES! WWII Online is 100% community-funded indiegame developed by a volunteering team. Subscribe to support the project and give it a chance to survive another 20 years with an improved gameplay, a new visual look and more content.
