September 2023 Minor Patch Notes

Friends,

We hope you are enjoying Dropkick Navvy: First Step!

Today, we are deploying a minor patch to the game to fix an issue. Through your help, we were made aware of the bug with the “First Step” achievement–while it was unlocking fine in the game, it was not quite doing that in Steam. Be excited that the bug has now been squished!
Bug Fix
• Fixed the issue where you could not earn the “First Step” achievement on Steam, despite it unlocking in-game
    • Those who have already encountered the bug will be able to unlock the achievement when they click “Continue” from the main menu--ta-da! 🎉

The update won’t interrupt your gameplay, and prompt you with the download the next time you play Dropkick Navvy: First Step. However, we strongly recommend you install the update as soon as possible for the best gameplay experience!

Dev Log #2: Giant First Step

Hello, friends!

We're a small team that came together at OceanDrive Studio after wrapping up our previous project, Lost Eidolons. Right now, our squad consists of just two core developers, and we've been getting some help from the studio's Art and Sound teams. Oh, and we also work with Operations team who work their magic on translations for our game as well as blogs like this.

Now, being a small team definitely has its quirks and perks. It means our project is a little bit limited in terms of scale, but it also means everyone on our team got to pick a subject we're all super passionate about, and we've had a blast experimenting with different ideas in the game.
We wanted to create a game that might be small in size but delivers a one-of-a-kind gaming experience. That's how Dropkick Navvy was born! And this is how Dropkick Navvy is currently being made!

As we worked on the framework for the Dropkick Navvy gameplay, we crafted a small, temporary ending at a certain point in the early stage of the game. We started playtesting with some of our studio pals. (They were basically kidnapped and forced to play! But everything worked out for the best since we let them go once they reached the ending and even gave them a lemon drop candy to boot.)

Now, we think it’s time for us to get your feedback. Our demo offers a couple of hours of gameplay, so feel free to give it a whirl with no pressure. If you find it interesting, we'd love to hear your thoughts. (We've got a stash of lemon drops ready to go!)
For the official game, we've got big plans. More content, puzzles, challenges, a complete story, and changes from the feedback you give us. So please keep an eye on Dropkick Navvy!

Thank you!

Dev Log #1: Say Hi to Dropkick Navvy!

Hello, friends!

We're the devs behind Dropkick Navvy at Ocean Drive Studio.

Dropkick Navvy is an oddball pilot project being built by a small team, with the goal of smushing together two genres we love and seeing what happens. It's a goofy survival/crafting game about repairing a broken world, with a wacky physics engine that throws stuff all over the place.

We're working on a demo version of the game to show off what we've prepared, and get feedback to decide where we'll take the game next. You'll be able to download that from this page very soon (sometime in September).

We can't wait to share what we've been working on and hear your thoughts. I don't really have much else to say until then, so we'll cut the post here. See ya soon!

Best wishes,
Hyeonseong Cha & Hyojeong Cho
