No, your eyes do not deceive you — we’re back, and we’ve brought a major update with us!
First off, please accept our sincere apologies to anyone who encountered game-breaking bugs that hindered progression. We’ve been hard at work these past few weeks fixing, testing, and also adding new content to the game — as promised.
Temporarily Removed:
- Reload perk: Currently being reworked along with the shotgun and some upcoming surprises — so it’s temporarily inaccessible.
- Vinyl player
Here’s a list of issues we’ve addressed:
Issues Fixed:
- Logic issue after death load: Fixed a major bug where loading the game after dying would break event logic. This was the most time-consuming issue to resolve, and we’re hopeful there are no more occurrences. If you do encounter any logic problems, please let us know — we’ll hotfix it quickly.
- Non-16:9 aspect ratio support: This fix addresses issues experienced by users with ultrawide monitors or non-16:9 aspect ratios. Midnight Special runs at a base internal resolution of 240x135, scaled 8x. Ultrawide scaling caused incorrect UI interactions and made parts of the game unplayable. Our temporary fix detects non-standard resolutions and defaults to 1080p Windowed mode on ultrawide setups. We’ll work on a better long-term solution — thanks for your patience!
- Mawie logic fixes
- Bathroom lighter issue resolved
- Typo and dialogue corrections: We’re currently doing a full text/interactions pass for further polish.
- Sanity menu not showing after load: Fixed.
- Various menu improvements
- Other small fixes and improvements
New Features:
- New Save System: You can now save the game at any time and from any location. This feature is triggered in the kitchen after the first phone call (interact with the cigarette pack).
- New Mechanic – Tina (the doll): Tina now acts as a compass for secrets. She becomes active after the dream sequence, when interacting in Jon’s Room.
- Reduced tripping frequency during low Sanity moments
- New closeups to clarify the door puzzle: Added new visual cues (e.g., sketches and canvas in Shelly’s Studio).
- New diary entries: Additional lore and explanations for mechanics like tripping.
