Video Dev Log #13 | Scripture of Blessing

Video Developer Log #13 has just been uploaded to Youtube. This log focuses on the new passive blessing system known as the Scripture of Blessing. This system allows your apostle to speak directly to The Creator by requesting a powerful & permanent passive effect allowing for even further customization of your character.   • The Tome of Creation - written by The Creator, consists of 5 individual books compiled into a single manual. This tome is now considered illegal by the authorities of the new world system and will be destroyed on site, along with anyone carrying it.
  • The Scripture of Blessing is a single page from the Tome of Creation that you, an apostle, carry with you to be studied in secret and seclusion. Studying the scripture will allow your character to speak directly to The Creator and ask for His blessing.
  • A blessing is a permanent passive effect that contains great power and customization for your apostle. There are a total of 42 different blessings available though that number will undoubtedly grow.
  • Each blessing is purchased with a certain number of blessing points that can be earned through quests and level ups.
  • Some blessings have requirements in order to obtain, such as owning a previous blessing.
  • The Scripture of Blessing can be accessed during level up or in a private place where The Creator can be summoned, such as a tavern room or private camp.

Video Developer Log #12 has just been uploaded to Youtube. This log focuses on the combat sound effects to really help bring AoT's turn-based combat system to life. We recommend watching this with high quality sound insulating headphones. Let us know what you think, enjoy! ;)

Combat Scenario Starts: 6:13

  • The player, along with all mercenaries and followers, now play one of three unique random sound effects when taking damage. Enemies still play one unique sound effect when taking damage.
  • All characters (player, followers, mercenaries, & enemies) have a unique sound effect when being healed, are granted a benefit, or die during combat.
  • Every weapon in the game has a unique sound effect for attacking, scoring a hit, missing, or being blocked.
  • Attacks that are blocked will play a unique sound effect depending on if the defender is unarmed, is carrying a wooden shield, or is carrying a metal shield - the effect played will be tied to the weapon used.
  • Critical Hits now play an independent "ching" sound on top of the resulted sound effects to emphasize the attack was critical.
  • All combat sound effects have been synchronized to play at the exact time to maximize the effectiveness of this new system.

  • Developer Log #11 was delayed by 2 weeks because July is always a busy (vacations, childcare, etc.) month for me. Expect no more interruptions in development until next July (2025). ːsteamthumbsupː
  • The Kingdom of Hyrinthia has been split into 4 fully detailed maps.
  • A NEW Continental Kingdoms map has been introduced showing the player the entire continent which displays the other three connected kingdoms (Darakis, Kojira, and Valamar).
  • Maps must be purchased from an NPC vendor before being able to view it in the Map Menu.
  • The three kingdoms outside of Hyrinthia will not be playable initially, but instead will be introduced in future expansion packs (DLC).
  • The Hyrinthia World Map label (Hyrinthia NW, SW, NE, SE) automatically updates to the new designation as the player traverses the world.
  • Cartography Passive - An optional passive ability that creates clickable buttons on the maps that give additional information about key locations, as well as places a magnifying glass to show your current position.
  • As new key locations are unlocked for the player, the maps automatically update their graphical icons making them easier to find.

Video Dev Log #10 | Touring the Continental Kingdoms

Video Developer Log #10 has just been uploaded to Youtube. This log focuses on the kingdoms of AoT and gives its viewers a tour of the world map. Enjoy viewing the latest biom updates for each kingdom and let us know what you think!

  • Age of Tribulation will have 4 separate kingdoms in its lore...
    1. Hyrinthia - Central kingdom and focal point of the story. This nation is the latest to be engulfed by a vile shadow encroaching the countryside tainting the royal family, its citizens, and the animals/vegetation. The biom consists of flat, forested regions and gentle streams surrounded by mountains in its naturally defensible position.
    2. Darakis - Northern barbarian kingdom distrustful of other nations. Evil spread to this region just before Hyrinthia so the effects are only moderate, though as of late, blizzards have been abnormally fierce. The biom consists of an icy tundra with mountains and dense forests.
    3. Kojira - Eastern kingdom full of enchantment and mystery. The second kingdom to be affected by the quiet evil and is well on its way to total devastation. The biom consists of an unnaturally dry, hot desert where the canyons are deep and water is scarce.
    4. Valamar - Southern kingdom and the once great ally of Hyrinthia. The slow corrupting darkness began here and is all but a heaping ruin of its former glory. The biom consists of volcanos, dry rocky ground, and acidic lakes and rivers.
  • Time is Paused in the world map while the player is standing still, but becomes Active when moving.

Video Dev Log #9 | Mercenaries/Followers Pt. II

Video Developer Log #9 has just been uploaded to Youtube. This log continues its focus on the new mercenary hiring/firing system showing off all of its features. If you haven't watched part I, we recommend that you check that out first!

  • The player chooses which class of mercenary to hire from the Town Bulletin.
  • Mercenary Class Descriptions now have clickable icons for their Skills, Abilities, & Proficiencies.
  • The player can choose which level of mercenary to hire; the higher the level, the more expensive they are.
  • Daily Expenses: Mercenaries cost a daily wage due at sunrise (6:00am) every day; if the player can't afford them, they will leave taking any worn equipment or weapons with them.
  • After paying the initial mercenary wage to the Guild Office, you will find them waiting for you outside at the Town Bulletin.
  • Each mercenary class (6) have their own unique backstory and motivations.
  • The player can "sell" a mercenary back to a Guild Office; amount is based on experience level.
  • Your mercenary's name is generated randomly from a pool of 20 names (unique for each class); safeguards are in place so a mercenary will never have the same name twice or the player's name.
