The future of IW ( & IW2 )
An update from Lightmare Studios
Hey everyone, Elphie "Agent Coyle" here, Founder & Creative Director for Lightmare Studios, here with an update regarding IW, IW2 and more for those that hadn't seen the news.
Infinity Wars
Since the first InfinityCast back in July of 2019, we've taken a new approach to communication, involving more transparency, and open-ness from us. We've disclosed information on some of the biggest issues plaguing IW1, namely the technical problems it's faced. We'd also engaged with the community in whether or not we should keep the servers up, just as a courtesy to our oldest, and most passionate players, costing us thousands to do so.

Eight months later, we've come to the decision to suspend IW's servers indefinitely. You can hear all about it in the InfinityCast 5, but to summarise, we're needing to invest those resources into something more beneficial for us in the long term. This is NOT a shut-down, as we will bring the servers back up towards the full release of Infinity Wars 2 ( read more below ). We also have mentioned that our most loyal players and customers will have their collections honored in some way going forward.

The official date for the servers suspension is the 29th of March ( or 30th of March for Australians ). If you want a last nostalgia hit before IW goes dark for a while, jump on the Discord and find a game with people.
Infinity Wars 2
We've been hard at work on Infinity Heroes, which is creating and designing systems that are suitable to be used in Infinity Wars 2. Not only that, but with technical documentation being a much higher priority, we're aiming for Infinity Wars 2 to be a LOT cleaner and more well polished on a technical level, something I'm sure many IW Veterans are craving at this stage.

You can find the game on Steam HERE, and adding it to your wishlist will be a great way to hear more about the game when it's ready, as well as give us extra assurance that you all actually WANT an improved version of the game. Kindly note that store page assets for IW2 are proof-of-concept images and do not represent the final product we deliver.

You can also reach out on Discord to chat with the developers directly, we always enjoy hearing feedback, ideas, and the occasional praise is always appreciated.

On behalf of the Lightmare team past and present, I'd like to extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you Infinity Wars 1 players for the journey so far. Whether you played for 1 hour or 1,000, you've been a part of Infinity Wars' history and it's our honour to have created it with you. We hope you enjoy some more time with Infinity Wars 1 before it goes on ice, and stay tuned for more Rift Runner, as we've got some interesting Infinity Wars 2 news to share with you in the coming weeks!
