Are they gods, or are they mascots? Is there a difference in late stage capitalism? It is hard to tell.

When you hang out with them, you’ll find yourself somehow in a different metaphysical plane, so maybe they really are gods? However, if they are gods, why do they have petty arguments all day, and why are they stuck doing mascot work? Who knows! Not us.

Fujin wants to open a surf shack and Raijin is jealous that Fujin is managing to rebel against his godly duties. They are taking their frustrations out on each other and forgetting what’s important in life. Oh brother.

Developer notes:
They were both designed by Nakamura-san and Mattori-san and they have a link to our hero, Michi. Michi’s back tattoo is of Raijin, and the lessons that Michi gives to Raijin about his history give him the strength to be himself.

Oh and Tosu are a dynamic duo who have fled to Kaso-Machi after getting caught up in the seedier side of Fukuoka’s nightlife. Oh used to be a famous gravure idol but aged out of the profession. She became a legit hostess but after the bills started piling up, she ended up working in a scam bar.

However, she picked the wrong target and had to flee the city for her safety. Tosu used to be the number 11 ranked host in Fukuoka! I’m not sure how good that is but he thinks it is a big deal! You go Tosu!

Michi gives them both the opportunity to start fresh, and get back to honest work. But if they revert to their scammy ways, they’ll be back out on the street!

This was a fun sketch to get back from Ikumi. We weren’t expecting to have a mascot in fishnets in our game when we started development, but when we saw this dynamic duo we had to include them.

Natsukatshii was the absolute queen of mascots in the Shōwa era. She was a national celebrity and rose to huge heights of stardom. Now in her twilight years, she has retired to Kaso-Machi to live quietly, bringing a nostalgic air of old time glamour with her.

She has found a new purpose in town, now making delicious cakes and sweets in Mieko’s café. She offers to work with Michi after seeing how he has welcomed all sorts of mascots into his agency, and offers mentorship to the younger mascots like To-Fu. She had become disillusioned with the mascot industry as it began to promote only a specific type of mascot and wanted nothing to do with it, but she has rediscovered her love for the craft thanks to Michi and Pinky.

Developer notes:
One of our goals is to create an otherworldly, place-out-of-time feel with Kaso-Machi. The game takes place in the current day but this town is stuck in the past. Rachel wanted a mascot that had been big in the Shōwa era and had found a new life in our game town.

🎙️ Featuring Voice Acting Legends:

✨ Takaya Kuroda (Yakuza’s Kiryu Kazuma):
Lending his commanding voice to our player character Michi, the stoic yet sensitive mascot manager.
This is bonkers! We got Takaya Kuroda, you know, Kiryu from Like a Dragon! We didn’t even dream to ask for him, he just turned up to the audition like that was a normal thing to do.

✨ Ayano Shibuya (Zelda Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom - Purah):
Voicing Kaso-Machi’s number 1 assistant manager and chaos goblin with a heart of gold, Pinky☆. She has previously played Purah in Zelda Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom! She is perfect for Pinky☆!

✨ Shuhei Yoshida (Games Industry Icon):
Our close-personal-show-biz friend makes his debut as a superstar voice actor in a role that is a perfect fit for him. Meet MonouGe, Kaso-Machi’s resident veteran gamer and arcade owner. MonouGe is a gaming enthusiast, so who better to play him?!

✨ Eri Saito (Chainsaw Man):
Serving tough love to Michi as the head of his family, Eri dominates as Matriarch Shimazu. She’s been in Chainsaw Man AND was one of the Beauty and the Beast Unit in Metal Gear Solid 4! Here she plays an underworld crime boss with a secret to hide…

✨ SWERY (Cult Creator of Deadly Premonition):
The man, the myth, the legend. I’ll tell you what, we think that Deadly Premonition is a masterpiece, so we asked Dead Prem director SWERY to do God's work as our reformed, ex-biker-gang-member priest, Kannushi-kun!

The whole game is packed with talent. We have a lot of characters, and they’re all a delight.
