City Transport Simulator - Roadmap July Update

Welcome to the new roadmap for City Transport Simulator!

Since the release of City Transport Simulator: Bus, a lot has happened and we have received tons of feedback from you. Today, we are excited to finally present the new roadmap for City Transport Simulator!
In the coming months, you can expect not only bug fixes and small features but also real content highlights, new vehicles, expansions, and a look into the future of CTS.
Looking back at the launch of CTS: Bus
In June, we released City Transport Simulator: Bus on Steam, making our vision of an all-in-one simulation a reality — a game where bus and tram traffic go hand in hand on a lively, constantly evolving map.

But the release was just the beginning: just like with CTS: Tram, we plan long-term support with new content, major features, and of course integrating your feedback, which we’ve received in large amounts through Discord, Steam, and social media over the past weeks. Thank you for that!
Next update: Mouse control, improvements & more
The next update is already on the horizon with one of the most requested features from you:

Mouse control for buses
Using the ALT key or directly via the control settings, you will soon be able to steer your bus intuitively with the mouse — no gamepad or wheel required.

Physics improvements for trams
The Flexity Vienna will get better acceleration on inclines, and the Munich R2.2b will have more realistic sinusoidal movement and swaying adjustments.

And after that, there will be more updates:

  • AI and signal improvements
We continuously work on optimizing traffic lights, AI vehicles, and overall traffic dynamics.
  • More life inside vehicles
New passenger voices will add even more acoustic variety, plus new announcement voices in several languages including English, French, Polish, and Hungarian.
More vehicles in the works!
Of course, we are also expanding the vehicle roster for CTS with real classics and more compact bus variants.
GT6 (Tram Classic):
The legendary articulated tram GT6 brings retro flair to Tramau. With its charming look, distinctive driving style, and historic interior, this vehicle is made for all nostalgia fans!
MAN Lion’s City A47 & A26
With the A47 and A26, we expand the fleet with two exciting 10- and 15-meter variants of the MAN Lion’s City.

Both models bring fresh energy to your fleet and enable new deployment options! More info on release timing and features will follow in one of the upcoming updates.
Looking ahead: Autumn highlights & console release
Autumn will bring the next big phase of CTS with a special focus on the console release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game is already very advanced technically, and we are working closely with Sony and Microsoft to complete the final steps for launch.
Free map expansion for all Depot DLC owners
With the big autumn release comes a comprehensive free map expansion for everyone who owns the “Depot + Southern Lines” DLC!

The new route takes you through a completely redesigned city district with high-rise buildings and an urban metropolitan flair. In contrast to the previous districts in Tramau, here you will experience a completely different vibe: faster, denser, more hectic!

Additionally, the route is brought to life by new AI passengers in business attire and a higher passenger density. People on their way to the office, appointments, or meetings. This gives the neighborhood a whole new atmosphere.

And do you remember the big construction site at the tram depot in the south of the map? That exact construction site will be transformed into a new bus parking lot with this update! From now on, you’ll be able to start or end your shifts as a bus driver in the south of the map as well. This not only brings more variety to your routes but also expands your daily itineraries and how you play the game.

The bus map expansion will be released simultaneously with the console release in autumn 2025 and is, as mentioned, free for all who already own the Depot + Southern Lines DLC. If you don’t have the DLC yet, no problem: it remains available and offers a large tram depot, new stops, and a completely different route layout even without the expansion.
The MAN New Lion’s City 12C & 18C
Many of you have wished for it — now it’s official: we are working on the new generation of the MAN Lion’s City! With the 12C (solo bus) and 18C (articulated bus), we expand the City Transport Simulator fleet with a modern bus family that sets new standards in design and technology.

In collaboration with VOR and Dr. Richard, we were again able to access original data and materials to recreate the bus as authentically as possible. From the paint job to the cockpit details — everything is being crafted with great attention to detail.

We are especially proud of the colorful LED interior lighting, which gives the vehicle a special flair and creates a unique atmosphere both day and night.

Currently, the New Lion’s City is in work-in-progress phase. This means we are actively working on the 3D model, driving physics, sounds, and interior design. We’re very happy about your feedback on the first images and do our best to incorporate your wishes into the fine-tuning.

The release of the New Lion’s City is planned together with the big console release and free map expansion in autumn 2025. So you can look forward to a powerful overall package!
Roadmap Phase 3: Weather, tickets, new cities
What comes after autumn? Here’s a glance at the third phase:

  • 🌧️ Dynamic weather: rain, lightning, temperature changes — including effects on driving behavior and climate control inside vehicles
  • 🎫 Ticket sales: realistic ticket selling on the bus
  • 🚋 Tatra KT4D: an old tram with special charm — currently in development
  • 🚌 New bus model: still a secret, but already planned
  • 🏙️ Vienna returns!: new routes for bus & tram based on a new, improved routing system

City Transport Simulator is just getting started and thanks to your feedback, the simulation gets better, bigger, and more varied every month!

CTS: Bus is here – Thank You for an Amazing Launch!

Thank You for an Amazing Launch!

We're absolutely thrilled about the successful release of City Transport Simulator: Bus – our very first fully self-developed game.

This was a huge step for us, and it means a lot to see how positively you've received the game. Whether it's on Steam, Discord, or social media: your feedback has not only been incredibly plentiful, but also super helpful – and that's exactly why we want to give you a quick behind-the-scenes look at what we’re working on and what you can expect in the next updates.
🔧 First Update: Save Files Fixed
Some of you experienced issues with your previous save files at launch – especially Early Access players whose progress didn’t carry over correctly. This was due to changes in the save system we had to make when taking over publishing responsibilities, which caused a specific set of data to break.

With today’s hotfix, this issue is resolved. The game will now automatically recognize your correct save data – no manual action required.
🛠 What’s Next? Our Immediate Goals
Of course, we're already working on the next steps – your feedback has made it very clear which areas need improvement. A key point is that AI-controlled bus lines are currently missing for CTS: Tram owners. We're aiming to fix this with the next update.

We've also been made aware of a crash issue that can occur when using custom key bindings. A fix is already in the works. Until then, resetting your key bindings in the control settings can help avoid crashes.

We’re also developing a Field of View (FOV) setting, so you can adjust the in-cabin view – especially useful if you need a better look at your mirrors, for example.

Another issue affects players who don’t own the Depot + South Line DLC: they're currently being reset to Eglundsdorf station while driving trams. We’re already working on a solution for that as well.
🧠 AI & Traffic Light Behavior
In parallel, we’re continuing to improve traffic lights and right-of-way rules, to make traffic flow more realistic and easier to understand. Optimization of signal cycles is ongoing, with the goal of speeding up traffic flow in a realistic way.
🎮 Bus Controls
For those of you who prefer to play with a keyboard, we’ve included three different steering modes at launch:
  • The realistic mode adjusts the steering speed based on how fast you're driving.
  • The continuous mode features consistent recentering – in the future, it will also be fully customizable.
  • And if you want full control, you can turn off auto-centering completely – ideal for smooth, manual steering.

You can also fine-tune Force Feedback via the gameplay settings – just scroll down in the menu to adjust the values to your liking.

In upcoming updates, we’ll refine the default settings for keyboard and controller users so that bus handling feels even more precise. We're also working on giving you more customization options so you can truly tailor the driving experience to your style.

Mouse control is also in development, and will soon offer an intuitive new way to drive.
Tips for Wheel Setup Issues
If you're currently having issues with your steering wheel or pedals, please double-check the dead zones for all axes in the settings and adjust them as needed. If that doesn’t help, we recommend calibrating each axis individually and trying again.

We're continuing to work on improvements here – and we also plan to include more presets for various wheel models in future updates.
🚌 3D Model Improvements
We’ve been closely following your feedback on the MAN Lion’s City – and it’s been very helpful.
In particular, your comments about cockpit and passenger area details are guiding our current work. We're making targeted improvements to ensure the bus is even more accurate – visually and functionally.
🚋 Tram Adjustments
Of course, we haven’t forgotten about the trams. Two key areas are currently our focus: fine-tuning the acceleration of the Flexity Vienna to match reality more closely, and making the typical swaying of the R2.2b feel even more authentic.

Our goal is to provide a truly realistic driving experience.
❤️ Thank You – and Stay Tuned!
The launch was just the beginning. For us, one thing is clear: this game thrives on its connection with you.

Your feedback directly shapes our daily work – whether it’s about bugs, suggestions, or new features. We're incredibly proud of what we’ve already accomplished with City Transport Simulator together with this community – and we can’t wait to see where it goes next.

Thank you for your support, and see you in the next update
