Volcanic & Mod Support Update is Here!

[p][/p]
Hey there, Tinkerlanders!
[p]Say hello to the Volcanic & Mod Support Update - a fiery little bundle of features to spice up your Tinkerlands adventures. Apart from the new Volcano Island, this update adds pets, the new banner system and the first version of the modding support. Let's dive in:[/p][p][/p]
Unstable Branch
[p]Tinkerlands v0.2.0.0 update introduces mod support for the first time, and in order to make this work we had to rebuild roughly a ~30% of the whole game. This means that things that worked correctly before might not work properly in this update, and we might have introduced new issues in places that worked before. We've done extensive QA and tests to avoid these issues, but we are still a small team and we might've missed things.

For this reason, we are introducing the unstable branch where you'll be able to play the newest version of the game a bit earlier, with the risk of some issues appearing. This v0.2.0.0 will be released initially in the unstable branch for a few weeks until we can polish all the rough edges and be sure that everything is working correctly. [/p][p][/p][p]In order to join the unstable branch you need to:[/p]
 1. [p]Right click Tinkerlands on your library.[/p]
 2. [p]Click Properties.[/p]
 3. [p]Go to Betas.[/p]
 4. [p]Select unstable from the dropdown list.[/p]
 5. [p]Tinkerlands will now automatically update to the unstable version.[/p]
[p][/p][p]We strongly recommend that you backup your files before playing in the unstable branch. You can find Tinkerlands save files in AppData/Local/Tinkerlands. [/p][p][/p][p]The unstable branch should be stable enough as we've fixed every issue we've been able to find, so don't hesitate to give it a go![/p][p][/p]
Mod Support
[p]Although this is just the start of the modding support, we've tried to make it as solid as possible. But since this is the earliest access to the mod support, we'll be working hand-on-hand with the modders over Discord, providing documentation, the tools and releasing some test mods to be used as examples.[/p][p][/p][p]If you are interested in creating mods for Tinkerlands, please make sure that you join our Discord community (link at the end of this post) as that will be the place to share mods, documentation, tools and get help for now.[/p][p][/p][p]If you are only interested in playing mods, we'd also ask you to join our Discord community (link at the end of this post) as that will be the hub to post mods until the mod support is solid enough that we move to Steam's workshop.[/p][p][/p]
Volcanic Island
[p][/p][p]Remember that old classic - "the floor is lava"? Yeah. We made it real. Introducing a brand-new island: a burning hot inferno filled with new enemies, new items, and a whole lot of danger.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The local creatures have adapted to the heat and they are not happy to see you. But hey, with your new weapons in hand, they might just warm up to you... violently.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Face off against the Magma Worm if you can handle the heat. No need for thumpers for these absolute units.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]New land, new threats... naturally, you’ll need some new toys. Find powerful gear tailored to your favorite class: Pyro Mage, Flame Warrior or Fireproof Archer 🔥 It’s up to you to choose your flavor of destruction![/p][p][/p]
Banner System
[p]“Banner” as in ban - and yes, we do have a talent for naming things. Now you can craft special banners to banish certain especially annoying types of enemies. Use them wisely and take tactical control of your surroundings - or just enjoy the satisfaction of saying “nope” to that one mob you really hate.[/p][p][/p]
PvP System
[p]Need to teach your friend a lesson? Or just feeling a bit competitive? Enable Friendly Fire and settle things the old-fashioned way - by hitting each other ruthlessly.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Pet System
[p]We know you love cuteness. So we squeezed in a Pet System into this update! Сollect them and show them your love - and they’ll love you back (in their own weird way).[/p][p][/p]

[p][/p][p]That’s it for now, Tinkerlanders![/p][p]Hop into the unstable branch, play around, break things, and tell us what you think! Your feedback is lava to us 🔥[/p][p]

Tinkerlands' Roadmap is here!

[p][/p][p][/p]
Roadmap
[p]You've asked for it, and we've been a bit slow on delivering to be honest, but It's finally here! These are the main features we are going to be working on during Tinkerlands' Early Access, and as stated in the image, the content added throughout the Early Access is not limited to the roadmap and changes may occur at any point during development.

This roadmap only contains the major features we have planned, but we will also be working on other minor features, quality of life, suggestions and more. So without further ado, check out the brand-new Tinkerlands' roadmap for the Early Access:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
v0.2.0.0 — Mod Support Update
[p][/p][p]We have talked about this before, but we can finally confirm that Mod Support will be coming to Tinkerlands as part of the first roadmap milestone. We plan to develop Mod Support by working together with the community, so we can cover all that should be needed to develop mods, and even though this will be first available in this update, we will continue developing this feature throughout the whole Early Access Period.

This update will also include a new major island with a Volcanic theme, where you'll need to find a way to travel through lava rivers and fight enormous lava worms.[/p][p][/p][p]Not enough? Cool, this update will also include a few new systems that we are already working on, like what we've called "Enemy Banners" where you'll be able to craft enemy-specific banner objects that you will be able to place, to vanish that enemy from existence (meaning that they won't naturally spawn anymore in a radius). This will allow the creation of natural mob farms, and will also allow you to do some fishing without those snow wolves coming after you.

Also, Pets and PVP are coming. I don't think I need to explain these features, but you'll be able to explain a couple of things to your friends once PVP is enabled.[/p][p][/p]
v0.3.0.0 — Town & NPCs Update
[p][/p][p]We've heard your feedback about the NPCs, so we went bananas with them. In this update the settlement will come to life, and enemies will try to end it by invading your home. Settlements will require a central object in order to be built, and this object will need to be upgraded in order to make the settlement grow, be able to invite more NPCs, and unlock some of the new NPCs functionality.

And speaking about NPCs functionality, we know, NPCs are definitely non-playable, but saying that they are characters might not be a 100% correct term, since they are more akin to stationary shops. This update will take care of that, and NPCs will unlock lots of new features including but not limited to: Being combat capable, having life (no more invulnerable NPCs), perform tasks (small scale automation), interact with other npcs and objects and a friendship system that we will talk more about in the future.

But that's not all folks! This update will also include new major islands (we'll discuss them in the future), and also new systems like mounts and a lot of new stuff for the cable system, including world-made and player-made traps.[/p][p][/p]
v0.4.0.0 — Endless Tower Update
[p](Sneak peek from Volcano Island, not related to the Endless Tower, but I had to put an image here)[/p][p][/p][p]This is something that we've been wanting to add for a long, long time! The new Endless Tower will be an island that will be accessible at some point in the game. Endless Tower is a dungeon where the player will have to go up a certain number of floors, which each floor being randomly generated with enemies and traps. Players will get new items each floor and will have to use them to further progress into the tower.

- That's a Roguelike.

Yes, yes... but you'll get cool rewards that can be used outside the Endless Tower, what about that?!

Once again, we'll explain more about this feature in the future. And this update will also include a new island (pirate themed, how cool is that?) and new systems, like the new Statue Fuel system, where you'll be able to "fuel" statues (and other stuff) that spawn enemies so they drop goodies. And where you'll be able to use items that you don't want anymore to create this fuel. [/p][p][/p]
v1.0.0.0 — Navigation & Finale Update
[p](We will be saying goodbye to this fella in this update...)[/p][p][/p][p]Finally the finale. Every story needs to end at some point, and this is the point where Tinkerlands (story) ends. This will include the final location of the game and the final boss. Not much to say about this, so I'll instead talk about the othe major feature of this update: Navigation Overhaul![/p][p]
Right now, the ship acts as a loading zone between the main island and the destination island, but we don't want to do that. So in this update, you'll be able to travel between islands physically. That means that you'll be fighting enemies while you travel to the next island, managing the ship resources and using the ship facilities to defend it from enemies and random events.

What ship facilities you say? Well, the ones that you will need to build of course. This update will remove the prefab ship we have right now, and will introduce true ship building, where you'll need to place each part of the ship to create the design of your dreams. Just don't share them with us If they are NSFW.[/p][p][/p]
And that's about it!
[p]Thank you so much for reading up to here, and for being our partner in this journey and for your support. I couldn't end this post without saying thank you. If you want to stay tuned on the latest new, ask the team some questions, share suggestions or bug reports, please consider joining the Discord community. [/p]

Tinkerlands v0.1.4.0

Hello everybody!

We’re back once again with a new update, addressing some of the most common bugs reported so far. It looks like our save corruption system had a few holes — which should now be fixed.

This time, our major focus has been on fixing as many bugs as possible. We've also addressed some balance issues and quality-of-life requests. We'll keep working on these updates until all bugs are resolved and the game's balance reaches a state we're happy with. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is already working on future content.

And speaking of future content — we’ve been getting questions about it non-stop lately, and yes, we will be publishing a roadmap for the Early Access content very soon. Spoiler: Mod support is included in the roadmap.

Thank you once again for your support and understanding. We’re a small team with only one programmer, and we can’t fix everything as fast as we’d like to. 🙏
Enemy spawn rates under our radar
We've noticed a couple of bugs regarding enemy spawn rates, and by fixing them the enemy spawn rate got too low. We've been tweaking the numbers to make them fair and consistent to players, but It may need further tweaking in the next update. Please share with us how you feel about the enemy spawn rates!

One of these bugs was dividing the enemy spawn timer by two every time the player changed a "chunk", which is something that occurs very frequently when moving around. This meant that enemies would spawn much faster than intended, and that items that modify the enemy spawn rates (talisman, swarm potion, etc) wouldn't work properly, or at all.

Tinkerlands v0.1.3.0

Hello everybody!

We are back again with a new update, this time we've been focusing on fixing (or at least reducing) the corrupted save data issues some people are experiencing. There's only so much we can do about it, since If the game is forcefully closed (via alt+f4, disconnection or crash) the save data will be mostly unusable. We now make a check that the save data has been succesfully written, and If it failed during the process, the game will try to load a backup. We've also implemented a backup system for player save files, using the same method mentioned above.

We sincerely apology for the issues this might have caused, but we are determined to fix all the issues and bugs, starting with the major ones like this one.

We've also heard your feedback about game balance, and this time we come with some quality of life changes, new items, a new NPC and some economy balance.

Thank you once again for your support and comprehension, we are a small team with only one programmer and we can't fix everything as fast as we would like to. 🙏
