Bean Beasts News

Dev Log - 5th July

With the demo released and language system implemented I can now continue working on the full game! This week I've made some new enemies and objects linked to coming challenges!
ːsteamhappyː What's New...
Fruit Tree and Broken Cannons!
- Used for challenges in upcoming levels.

Fluffies with Acorn Masks!
- Everyone loves the super fast fluffies, I gave them a cute mask.

Flying menaces - Bats!
Unaffected by walls and ground traps!

Glowing Enemies!
Popping with bonus Energy or Beans.

Metal Rockies!
Immune to all elemental damage, meaning most Bean Beasts cannot hurt them.

Cheers!

Demo Patch to v1.3
Spanish is now available in-game! ːsteamthumbsupː
There's over 2800 words in the demo, this isn't that many compared to many games but was nevertheless a big undertaking to implement all of the framework and iron out bugs! The good news is I've done most of the groundwork so future language implementation should be quicker and easier!
ːsteamhappyː What's New for v1.3?
• Boxes now flash red when at critical health (lower than 1/3)
 • Boxes damage SFX are now louder to warn players better.
 • Box health bars are now yellow to stick out more clearly.
 • Close Game button is now shaded Red to make it clearer.
 • Shop buttons must now be held down to unlock items, preventing accidental clicks.
 • Main Menu buttons have been re-ordered and resized.
 • "Map" replaced with "Start" on main menu.
ːsteamthumbsupː Bug Fixes...
• The Tree on the Tutorial level is now non-interactable... destroying this tree could cause a soft-lock.
 • Some enemies were not being affected by holes - bug with flippers, should be fixed.
 • Fixed a bug enabling players to interact with objects from the Endless "View Level" screen.

Cheers!

Devlog | Pre-Demo Testing | 13th June 2024
This should be the last update before I release the demo to the public! I want to run it through a few testers to check for bugs and then I will release it into the world! ːsteamthumbsupː

ːsteamhappyː What's New...
• Re-balancing of flipper force numbers, scaling to enemy weight and number of enemies on the flipper better.
 • Preview button added to the level start screen.
 • Info pages updated to be more accurate and concise.

 • Endless Mode rebalance, not as hard as before, but harder than the previous update.
 • Endless Mode wave targets for gems changed to 10, 20 and 30.

 • Damage number size option now defaults to x1, with the option to go +/- 25% and 50%.
 • Status icon key now only appears when you click on an unlocked enemy button.
ːsteamthumbsupː Bug Fixes...
• Fixed a bug causing enemies to spawn outside of the playable area on endless, which was linked to teleporting enemies too.
 • Enemy speed increase on endless mode is now capped to x2.5 to prevent pathing breakdown.
 • Unclickable map when abilities are cancelled via the pause button.
 • Implemented some changes to the Mac build to hopefully solve some display issues.
ːsteamthumbsdownː Known Bugs...
