The Eyes: an insightful offering!

Hello, Mountaineers of Eldritch Horrors! In this second entry, we’ll know more about the coined currency you earn the more you interact with the mountain: the Eyes.

Either to learn more about the mountain and its character’s secrets, or to offer it to an unknown deity in order to face the horror with less challenge, the EYES will be the way.

DIFFICULTY AND REVELATIONS

Making your way to the mountain top, you’ll notice greenish bubbles floating around the levels, which also appear by defeating enemies or looting corpses.

As an explorer of the horrid unknown, as you interact with your surroundings, the more you’ll get to *see* the ever-growing horrors of the Mountain. The more you’ve seen… it is EYES you gain!

The Mountain will react to your level of Eyes, as you accumulate the little green eye-bubbles, the more it’ll begin to reveal its truest twisted nature: enemies will be more hostile, the levels will turn and twist into a horrid nightmare.

Something that is revealed before your eyes and once unseen it can’t be unseen… Or can’t it?

THE STATUE OF OFFERINGS

Little is known about this statue when you arrive. But is it ominously there. The Hooded One, a mysterious man of a somber demeanor, hints at the usage of said statue at the beginning of the game: it is a place of offerings.

And what little you have to offer but the knowledge you have gathered?

Its intricate design reveals and darkens the symbolism it holds. On one hand, it points to a culture whose twisted perception built a convoluted effigy, to which offer the Eyes, in the hopes of navigating the Mountain in a less hostile environment.

But on the other hand, what do the symbols around it stand for? And who precisely is receiving all those offerings. And even more unsettling, with what end does this unknown entity engulf the precious Eyes?

Get ready to unveil the mysteries surrounding the Eyes (quite literally) and answer the Mountain’s Call when we release the game later this year!

Meet Professor Danforth!
A PROFESSOR GONE MAD?
Nathan Danforth is the heir to the renowned Danforth family, having contributed to its legacy through his own merits. He is an emeritus member of the Mathematics and Natural Philosophy Royal Academy within Grey University, an expert in patterns, and a lover of puzzles.

Over the years, his studies led him down the path of researching the greatest patterns known to humankind, scattered throughout the cosmos. He specialized in the fields of cryptology and cosmology, publishing a thesis titled *The Pattern of the Cosmos: A Mathematical Approach to the Sky.* But that’s when the once-honorable academic began to lose his grip on reality—especially after discovering a rather intriguing tome that held secrets and codes only he could decipher.
ADVENTURER OF THE UNKNOWN?
Convinced that he was on the verge of solving the greatest puzzle of all time, Professor Danforth’s lectures became increasingly filled with esoteric theories. He sought knowledge from other departments, ones devoted to fiction and the impossible realms of myth. He claimed to have found a Mountain that could grant powers so immense they could even defy death. Some even heard him say it was as if the Mountain was calling to him…

Furthermore, he swore he had uncovered the Mountain’s coordinates—leading to a place only speculated upon by dubious adventurers. But his academic reputation grew weaker and weaker as his claims became more outlandish. Still, being the heir to a wealthy family has its advantages, doesn’t it?

Danforth gathered a small group of believers, promising them that he would return with proof—proof that would silence the institutions and professors who mocked him.

And so, he ventured forth alone, pouring the riches of the Danforth family into funding his impossible journey!
