Developer's Update: Major Update Preview - Fantastic Cheiftains
Hello, chieftains!
It's been two months since our first major update, "Evolution of Masks," and I bet we're not the only ones itching for some fresh changes in Soulmask!

Our second major update is coming soon, and the theme is "Fantastic Chieftains"! This update brings a lot of exciting features, from the Chiefs themselves to the new mysterious arena, and also the Steam Workshop that offers endless possibilities (you've probably seen our teaser on this already!). Soulmask will be filled with even more potential with this major update.

First up, I've got something special for all you bloodthirsty warriors out there—your very own battleground...
1. New Gameplay: Ancient Dungeon Arena
A new arena is opening soon for the chosen chieftains—loot, fight, and claim ancient blessings in this fierce arena.... This is part of the sacrifice.

——Ancient tablet hidden in the shadows

That's right, a new battleground dedicated to PvP combat is coming soon. I know your weapons have been thirsty for action for a while now. In our second major update, "Fantastic Chieftains," we're introducing new building blueprints to everyone’s mask, including the most exciting one—the Arena Portal.

On official PvP servers, the Arena Portal will open at specific times each day, inviting every chieftain to enter. You'll dive into a completely randomized dungeon to claim relics from the ancient, mysterious civilization. But watch your back - other chieftains are after the same prize. Only one can walk away with the ultimate reward.

These dungeons, remnants of ancient times, are filled with dangers—twisting mazes, deadly traps, terrifying ancient Slayers, and Plunderers lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike. The heart of the dungeon hides its greatest threats.

There are many ways to survive: stay hidden and swoop in when the coast is clear, assist the dungeon monsters in taking down your competition, or just swing your weapon and cut down everyone in your way. But time is ticking—the deadly radiation walls are closing in, destroying everything in their path. Either you escape, or you die.

The abundance of rare ancient/mysterious gear and their precious repair kits in the dungeon's treasure chests make all the danger worthwhile—this is one of only two places in Soulmask where such weapons can be found. As for the 3rd-tier modify materials or other rare resources from the ruins, they might be overkill for ENDGAME players, but for newcomers? These could be game-changers—if you can make it out alive, that is!

A dangerous, treasure-filled PvP dungeon is thrilling for some, but not everyone enjoys constant bloodshed. Don't worry, we’ve got plenty of fun in store for those who prefer a different path!
2. New Feature: Skin Decoration
First, let’s answer this question: why the name "Fantastic Chieftains"?

You guessed it! Starting with "Fantastic Chieftains" update, we're finally making one of our long-time dreams a reality: letting chieftains change their look in countless ways. In the new version, allowing all our tribesmen to customize their appearance. The mask Decor Table will feature a new "Skin Decoration" option, letting you transform into any character from the three major tribes, from the lowliest laborer to the top boss.

Blueprints for these skins can be obtained from craftsmen in the three main tribes or found in chests guarded by BOSS. Once you learn a skin blueprint, you can craft the corresponding skins. Want your tribe's warriors to cosplay as a Retroreflector? Just remember, they won’t come with Retroreflector’s signature "Execution" move...

PvP enthusiasts, a heads-up! With this feature, you’ll never know if that scrappy warrior in ragged tribe gear is actually a top-tier fighter wearing the best armor. Never judge a book by its cover—assume everyone's a threat. We'll be keeping a close eye on how this system plays out, so hit us up with your feedback anytime.

This new feature is just the tip of the iceberg for the "Fantastic Chieftains" update. Brace yourselves for a slew of wild new buildings!
3. Tons of New Constructions!
New Construction: Chief’s Chair

We need more ways to maintain your Chiefs' majesty. How about a huge high-back chair? In the "Fantastic Chieftains" update, the "Chief’s Chair" will be your exclusive seat, highlighting your supreme status. Just remember to turn off the [Allow tribesmen to use] option, or... well, you might not like what happens.

New Construction: Treasure Bag/Treasure Chest

Concerned about losing all your treasures in tribal wars? Now, with Treasure Bags and Treasure Chests, you can hide your tribe’s emergency supplies underground. It’s your last line of defense, giving you a chance to rebuild if disaster strikes.

New Construction: Training Dummy

I know you’re tired of killing thousands of boars or bison to train your tribesmen’s weapon skills. In the "Fantastic Chieftains" update, our tribesmen have mastered advanced dummy-making techniques. Now, they can create new training dummies that help them improve their weapon skills over time.

New Construction: Mysterious Converter

Unofficial statistics reveal that 90% of tribes' storage boxes are always filled with various stones and branches collected by tribesmen. Most chiefs have moved past the "headache of how to deal with them" stage and just ignore this junk.

But what if I told you we could turn that trash into treasure?

Introducing our new construction, the “Mysterious Converter” This ancient technology can transform any material into Bloodstones, Blood Crystals, and other rare relic civilization artifacts! This machine, which once made the ancient civilization incredibly powerful, is now in your hands.

You can even set it up with your tribe's management system to keep your material stocks just how you like them. Too much of something? Your tribesmen will automatically toss the excess into the Mysterious Converter for a bit of "recycling magic."

New Construction: Hibernation Pod

Ever found the perfect legendary tribesmen, only to realize your mask's link limit is maxed out? Forcing you to kick that loyal buddy who's been with you since day one to the curb? Trust me, you're not alone in that heartbreak.

In the "Fantastic Chieftains" update, chiefs acquire advanced body-freezing technology from the mask, introducing a new construction: the low-temperature Hibernation Pod. This innovation lets you temporarily hibernate any barbarians that exceed the mask's maximum link limit. Think of it as your personal Valhalla—you can store your elite warriors and preserve old allies for a special occasion. You might even use it to discipline your tribesmen... though tossing them in front of a Vajra Ape might be more effective.

We hope these new features bring a fresh wave of excitement to Soulmask. And this is just the beginning—there’s more constructions to come!
See you on September 26th!
From the new and unpredictable threats in the random battlefields to the diverse looks introduced by the new costume system, and the endless possibilities offered by the Steam Workshop, we hope the "Fantastic Chieftains" major update brings a richer gaming experience to all chiefs.

And believe us, there's still more to come! Stay tuned for more details soon. See you on September 26th!

Soulmask Post-Reset New Server Plans
Dear Chieftains:
Following the announcement of our plan to reset PVP season, we heard many speculations regarding related issues, so we decided to both clarify and discuss future plans in this post.
The purpose of any official server is to provide consistent gaming experience. As the player base grows, we see the different demands and desires among players, and therefore, we aim to diversify server types to meet these varied needs.
We know some players want a faster-paced PVP experience, so this time we have added servers that reset monthly and increased multipliers for those seeking quicker progression and more fast-paced PVP.
We’ve also introduced certain themed servers for testing purposes, which will help us better understand your needs. For example, weekend PVP servers are for players with a busy weekday schedule, and hardcore PVP servers for those who want to challenge themselves to the limit! We welcome brave players like you to take on this challenge!
Furthermore, we've planned to set up long-term beta-testing servers that do not reset player data after a season. Of course, we’ll evaluate and make adjustments during the Early Access phase. We’ll announce any changes at least three months in advance.

First Server Types Planned in Next Week(Available in Asia, North America, Europe; the reset plan for South America and Oceania to be determined based on practical situation after the regional season):

PVP Servers:
● PVP Test Server - 4-Player Tribe – monthly reset – 4-hour raids
● PVP Test Server – 10-Player Tribe – monthly reset – 4-hour raids
● PVP Test Server – 4-Player Tribe – tri-monthly reset – 2-hour raids
● PVP Test Server – 10-Player Tribe – tri-monthly reset – 2-hour raids
● PVP Test Server – 4-Player Tribe – monthly reset – weekend raid- 4-hour raids
● PVP Test Server – 4-Player Tribe – monthly reset – hardcore mode - 4-hour raids
● PVP Test Server – 4-Player Tribe – long-term – 2-hour raids

(New)PVE Server:
● PVE Test Server – 4-Player Tribe – hardcore mode

And that’s the latest plans for our servers. Please feel free to leave comments and offer valuable feedback to us. Thank you for your support!

Soulmask Early Access Regular Update 19

Dear Chieftains,

To provide a better gaming experience, the server will undergo maintenance. It will be temporarily unavailable starting from September 5, at 7:00 AM UTC, with an expected downtime of 45 minutes. This update includes a client update, and chieftains will need to update their client to enjoy the game normally. We are very grateful for your understanding and support.

The update details are as follows:
[New Features and Adjustments]
Added casual animations to the lighting module.

Masks and feather accessories are now automatically hidden while drawing a bow for better visibility.

Stone tools can now be crafted at the Craftsman's Bench.

Wooden and stone weapons can now be crafted at the Weapon Crafting Bench.

Linen gear can now be crafted at the Armor Forging Table.

The coefficient management interface now allows adjustment of the damage multiplier for the barbarians and animals in the wild, which can stack with the original wild creature damage multiplier.

The minimum load effect on movement speed has been adjusted to 5% to prevent inability to move in water.

The tribesman's work list is now capped at 50 works. If the limit is exceeded, all works will be cleared and must be reassigned. (This fix aims to address the display issue where the default tribesman couldn't be assigned works. In upcoming versions this month, we will add works such as "sort items" and "categorized storage" into the game).
[Bug Fixes and Optimizations]
Fixed issues where jumping, using items, switching weapons, and using skills were possible during mimicry animations.

Fixed the issue where the initial character's hairstyle wasn't retained upon death after a hairstyle change.

Fixed Barbarian AI failing to automatically cure diseases.

Fixed the issue preventing the construction of wells and fertilizer buckets on giant boulders.

Fixed the incorrect buff timer display after returning to the game from the character interface.

Fixed the issue where selecting materials with multiple types (like Acidic Fluid and Cooking Oil) could lead to item retrieval failures during crafting.

Soulmask FAST Q&A 08
Hi Chieftains:
Looks like it’s been a while since our devs had a good chat with you all. But if you’ve been keeping up with our updates, you’ll know we’re always tuned in to what you need.

https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2646460/view/4585314779400913573

Thanks to all your detailed feedback, we've identified even more ways to make Soulmask better. Today, we’re diving into some of the hot topics raised in the player community. Curious about what's new and what's coming up in Soulmask? This post’s got you covered!

I know you’re not here for small talk, so let’s get right to it:
1.@BeastMama: Most i've run the lvl 50 Ancient Dungeons, and after around 30 runs i ended up with only 4 legendary items, this is so disappointing.
A: The first question comes from our familiar Chieftains——No worries! We’ve tweaked things so you’ll find more legendary gear dropping now... Keep up the carnage!
2. @aryyn: "I think we should be able to have a better choice when farming mysterious gear. Yes its "mysterious" but Im not seeing myself farming the dungeon over 50 times or something to get a better set than the craftable, which is then not even repairable"
A: We hear you loud and clear! Starting with the near future update, some of the higher-ups in the barbarian camp have figured out a few tricks to repair mysterious gear. Maybe you should go and “require” them to share their secrets with you?
3.@Quarinah/@Amastris:“please add cotton seed to the list of the oil press. i get a tremendous amount of seeds from growing the cotton i need for yarn and all the other cotton items but i can only use the seeds to replant cotton. irl cotton seed oil is used in cooking throughout many asian countries so its not farfetched to use cottonseed oil for the oil press”

@Mecc:"Can we add pineapple to the fruits to make acidic fluid? And it would make sense since guava has a pH level between 3.08–4.38Tomatoes have a pH level between 4.0 and 4.5. And pineapples have one between 3–4 so it would fit into that category. I can use Guava and Tomatoes but not pineapple"
A:We’ve gotta hand it to you, Quarinah, Amastris and Mecc—you gave us a quick lesson in practical science! So, taking your feedback to heart, we’ve made some changes: now you can use cottonseed in the oil press, and pineapple can be used for making acidic fluid now!
4. @aryyn: "Its so cramped and I only have comfort level 8. I dont want to use only mammoth horns or spam more heads into 1 small place to get comfort 10. It also needs to look good."
*“Oh no...”

A: The moment our building system designer saw your post, they knew something had to change—big thanks, aryyn! We’ve now expanded the comfort radius to 30 meters, giving you plenty of space to create a beautiful and comfortable home.
5. @I__am__who: “In the Work Manage Crafting Tables, in the Work Location list (where you can set the priority of the workbench being used) can you show which workbench the tribesmen is currently using so we can identify how much longer til their off that particular job?”
A: Gotcha! We’re on it, adding this feature so you can track each tribesmen’s work log and better manage their tasks.
6. @D3m0nDreamer: “First person view, even if it is only togglable for building, would be a game changer for many. It is very difficult to center anything without playing guessing games after a few dozen tries on a relocate.“
A: A lot of you have been asking for a first-person view, and we're listening. It might take some time, but we’re working on bringing this feature to life as soon as we can. For instance, this will be added to the game as similar as using camera mode.
For the constructions themselves, though, we think a simple first-person view might not fully solve the issue, so we’re exploring better options, such as the unique structure mode...
7. @Matthew:"I would like to suggest an enhancement to the current NPC production system. It would be incredibly useful if the NPCs with workstations could be programmed to produce items based on the inventory levels in the base. For instance, an NPC could be set to produce ropes only when the total number of ropes in all the chests across the base falls below a specified threshold, such as 100. The NPC would then continue to produce ropes until the inventory is replenished to the desired level.
A: Great minds think alike, Matthew! This idea has been on our radar for a while. We’ve always wanted to add a “maintenance work” feature for tribesmen, but it’s a bit tricky to develop. The good news is, we’re planning to roll out this feature in Soulmask soon!
8. @Ash: “Spear Overturn, While this spell can be countered by others such as vertical wall, it can be spammed for long period of time. Suggestion Cap how long you can hold Overturn e.g., you can only overturn for 10 sec regardless of whether you have stamina or not ”
A: We get tons of feedback on overpowered skills each week, and Spear Overturn is a hot topic. Ash’s opinion reflects the views of many players. Thanks for raising this to us anyway! But instead of just nerfing skills—which wouldn’t be fair to the players who enjoy them—we’re more interested in adding fun counterplays to maintain balance.

To counter Spear Overturn, our lead designer Royce suggests a personal favorite strategy: begin with the hammer skill 'Solar Protection' to get a Superarmor buff. Then, switch to gauntlets and use 'Revolving Kick' to drain your opponent's stamina. This approach is particularly effective against Spear Overturn, which heavily relies on stamina.

Of course, you can try other tactics to drain their stamina, like using throwables. Overall, we aim to balance Soulmask's PvP by adding more counter options rather than just tweaking numbers.

Thanks to all your awesome feedback! If you have more suggestions or ideas, drop them in the comments.

And I know many of you are eagerly awaiting our next big update. The portal to the Killing Zone is about to open… you’ll get to see it soon… Stay tuned!

This is Maggie, looking forward to our next chat!
