SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure - Patch v1.0.7a Notes

[p]Hi everyone, Jay and team here! [/p][p]This week's hotfix brings forth more balancing changes and bug fixes. Some preliminary late-game balancing changes have been made to Fireballs, Banditos and Teletotems. [/p][p]Please note that as we are still in the midst of reviewing late-game difficulty, more improvements will definitely come in the future to make the late-game more reasonable![/p][p]For a list of planned improvements coming in the next few months, please refer to our roadmap.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][h2]Patch v1.0.7a Notes[/h2][p][/p][h3]Balancing[/h3]
  • [p]Reduced the amount of Fireballs spots, and decreased their spawn rate.[/p]
  • [p]Reduced the amount of Bandito (food-stealing monke that appears in the third biome) spawns, especially in single-player mode.[/p]
  • [p]Added additional Teletotem servers to 02-05, 02-07, 02-10, 03-09, 03-10 and 03-11.[/p]
  • [p]The Potato Shooter in 03-10 now fires further into a non-Fallen Step area, so it is obtainable without having to slice it from a Fallen Step, which can be extremely challenging.[/p]
[p] [/p][h3]Aesthetic Updates[/h3]
  • [p]Changed the colour of Noodles to help distinguish it further from Ground Ginger.[/p]
[p][/p][h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • [p]Fixed a Whirlpool in 02-08 not working.[/p]
  • [p]More improvements made to level colliders in general.[/p]
  • [p]The Rusted Blade Charm's ability (reduction of charge time for special abilities) should now apply correctly.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed incorrect textures for the 3D model of the Chilli Crab.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed Sibat projectiles spawning in the wrong rotation.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the Wakpapa would sometimes flop in the air after being defeated.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the player character would spin endlessly after using Whirlpools.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bunch of events where SFX would continue playing endlessly -- the Bubble Tea's pouring minigame, the Seasoning Machine processing ores, as well as the dialogue typing SFX.[/p][p][/p]

We're moving towards providing regular updates every two weeks, with hot fixes in between.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p] [/p][h2]Patch v1.0.7 Notes[/h2][p][/p][h3]Game Balancing[/h3]
  • [p]Balanced the Steamer Minigame -- before, it was easy to unintentionally drain the minigame progress after a bubble leaves the line. A short buffer duration after a bubble leaves the line has been added. This added improvement should help provide some leeway for more players when learning the minigame. Some Steamer minigames have also been adjusted slightly due to this change.[/p]
  • [p]Rewired the Teletotem network in the Beach's Spirit Trial to accommodate the flow of the level more.[/p][p][/p]
[h3]QoL Updates[/h3]
  • [p]In addition to balancing, we've also made visual improvements to the feel and feedback of the Steamer minigame.[/p]
  • [p]To avoid ambiguity between "O" and "0" in a lobby code, generated lobby codes will now not include "0".[/p]
  • [p]The camera that used to pan when players approach a fishing spot will now only pan when player is in a fishing minigame.[/p]
  • [p]Improved the sound effect attenuation range of kitchenware in Spirit Trials -- you should now be able to hear the kitchenware being damaged from wherever you are in the level.[/p]
[p][/p][h3]Aesthetic Updates[/h3]
  • [p]Some dishes have longer names in different languages, causing them to look overcrowded in their respective order cards. We're beginning to tackle this issue, starting with shortening the Windomie names in Spanish.[/p]
  • [p]Changed the font used for lobby codes to better distinguish similar-looking characters.[/p]
  • [p]Changed the colour of the fishing cone minigame in the Mountains -- it was originally green, which blended in with the green lava.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed blurry terrain textures in the early Forest levels.[/p][p][/p]
[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • [p] Fixed an issue where players would be unable to attack after serving a dish in a Boss level.[/p]
  • [p]Chopped Tomatoes from the Tomatomancer projectiles can now drop on the ground and be picked up.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed incorrectly-labelled Assembly Table in the Skewer's Makanomicon page.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed stretched stone tablet illustration in the cutscene that plays before 01-09.[/p]
  • [p]Fine-tuning of awkward colliders in 02-12, 03-10 and 03-11.[/p]

Moving Forward - Project Roadmap

[p]Hello everyone![/p][p]Thank you for your support thus far. [/p][p]On behalf of the team, I'd like to make an important announcement detailing our plans for SEDAP! for the next few months, so that our players have full transparency on what we're currently doing, and what we're planning to do in the future.[/p][p][/p][h2]Known Issues ๐Ÿ’ฌ[/h2][p]The team has been actively reading all your feedback on Discord and Steam![/p][p]Here's a list of known issues that we're actively tackling and hope to resolve soon:[/p]
  • [p]Online stability -- although we have been making improvements to online multiplayer mode since the game released, some players are still reporting network latency in their games. This is a complicated issue because of multiple factors like geographical location and hardware, so we'll need more time to investigate. [/p]
  • [p]Gameplay bugs & issues with the player experience -- we are aware of a few gameplay bugs reported by players -- here are some of them:[/p]
    • [p]Some issues with unlocking certain Achievements.[/p]
    • [p]Awkward and disruptive camera splits in local multiplayer mode.[/p]
    • [p]Ease of using menus can be improved, especially for P2 in online multiplayer mode.[/p]
    • [p]Monster-related issues -- inability to pick up Chopped Tomatoes from the Tomatomancer, the Bandito (the monkey that appears in the Mountains) sometimes failing to drop its stolen items when defeated.[/p]
    • [p]Lack of clarity regarding Freshness -- indication of a food's Freshness is important for players aiming for pink star runs. We reflect a Fresh food with visual effects like sparkles and steam, but this might not be obvious at one glance.[/p]
  • [p]Late-game difficulty curve -- maps in late-game are much bigger and can be confusing to navigate. Together with the existing pressure of the game, this is a huge point of frustration for some players. In addition to having balancing updates to remedy this, we have decided to experiment with a new minimap feature that will help players navigate levels more comfortably (see below).[/p]
[p][/p][h2]Upcoming Features ๐Ÿ‘€[/h2][p]With that, I'd like to share a sneak peek as to what's coming next:[/p][p][/p][p]๐Ÿ— The Bestiary: the Makanomicon, but for our lovely Monsters. [/p][p]๐Ÿ“ป Merapi's Radio: a radio in the Camp, where Merapi yells game tips at you.[/p][p]๐Ÿ”„ Swapping Characters in Online Mode: you'll be able to swap characters in online mode without having to swap hosts.[/p][p]โœจ Small QoL updates: to further improve the state of the game, we're continuing to make enhancements to gameplay experience. Players can expect balancing changes, and the availability of some in-game statistics -- whether you're hunting for achievements or simply want to track your best times when clearing levels.[/p][p][/p][p]We're aiming to bring these to you in the following 2 ~ 3 months, so please stay tuned![/p][p][/p][h2]Experimental Features ๐Ÿงช[/h2][p][/p][p]๐ŸŒ Minimap: as mentioned above, this will be a feature that support in-game player navigation, especially as the map sizes grow in late-game. [/p][p][/p][p]Pressing a button toggles a minimap appearing on the screen, which allows players to see:[/p][p](1) their current location in the level[/p][p](2) the positions of discovered and undiscovered ingredient sources[/p][p](3) visual indicator of their respawn timings[/p][p][/p][p]Here's a rough mockup of what it could potentially look like:[/p][p][/p][p]We are currently talking to players to see if this feature would help via our Discord channel. We'd like to extend the discussion here and ask for your thoughts on this feature -- do you think it complements the gameplay experience?[/p][p][/p][p]Beyond these, the team is also considering the following:[/p]

[p][/p][h2]Console Release ๐ŸŽฎ[/h2][p]As revealed during the Southeast Asian Games Showcase (SEAGS) last weekend, we will be releasing SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure on consoles -- namely Xbox, PS5, and Nintendo Switch in Q4 2025! [/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]What does this mean for you?[/p][p]As we move towards our console release, we now also have to handle porting the game to the various consoles. Although we prioritise fixing game-breaking bugs in the form of hotfixes, this does means that patches involving gameplay updates, balancing, and QoL updates will happen less frequently.[/p][p]And since we're further optimising the game for consoles, its possible that some updates can be applied to the Steam version to make the game run even smoother![/p][p][/p][h2]Conclusion[/h2][p]Once again, thank you for your patience, understanding and unwavering support in our little dev team.   • [p]Fixed an issue where the player character may get stuck in the middle of combat, or after respawning. [/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where projectiles were dealing... a little too much damage.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where players were unable to obtain Sliced Potatoes from the Potato Shooters. [/p][p][/p]
