Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug where it stops the player from moving after certain forced movement in game.

Demo updated

The demo beforehand wasn't updated for some time, as they were maintained separately. A massive demo update has happened to make it on par with the quality of life features and more of the main paid release. It still has the 1-2 hour long length to complete, but it has most features from the main game that were added post launch.

No Man's Land remade

For a long time, I have been trying to find solutions on how to improve No Man's Land, as it is the game's biggest flaw due to how driven people get to try to explore it even when warned against doing so. There was also the minimap that didn't want to function correctly in it no matter what.

Ultimately the solution was to remake the map but smaller. Overall it's 6.5x smaller. (100x100 vs the original 255x255). It's the same size as each of the hub areas for the nations. This will make it much easier to navigate, with the minimap working fully and it's harder to get fully lost without any hope for finding anything.

The original side quests and everything has been carried over and functions like intended. If you are in a current save in the original No Man's Land, your save won't be corrupted, leaving the area and going back will bring you to the new version. It won't impact any side quests in your save files either, as it will be a seamless transition.

I apologize it took this long, I was trying to find other solutions, but this ended up being the best fix overall.

New starting item and some fixes

The biggest thing in this update is the new starting item. The Eye of Wonder. This item allows teleportation with any class, but at the cost of all of your money. You can choose to use it to skip the tutorial if you wish, but doing so before choosing a nation will actively lock you out of certain nation exclusive content.

But why add this?

Mostly since No Man's Land is a big hindrance to people's enjoyment with how it is, so a way for fast travel that is rare for it to work for the lore but allows more freedom for players. There is a class with fast travel already, but most players might not want to pick that for the ability to fast travel, since that is only 1 out of 15 classes. So for now, adding this item is the best solution. The Fowler class is still unique on it's own with it's stats, default of one shield before stun, and it's flying attacks.

Note: This is made in a new engine compared to Umbra Fields with many systems from it redone and expanded with more depth, but with a focus on one main area and dungeons connected to it.

Embark on a dark, brutal quest in this first-person, party-based dungeon crawler. Choose from 42 classes to form your 6-member team and conquer the Dark Tower. Every decision matters in this medieval world where insanity and death are commonplace. Will you survive?

Before everything was normal. Then the sun began blackened, the skies full of blood, and the light became the most traded resource. The beasts entered the world, kingdoms fell and new villages prospered. Humanity banded together to the Gate of the Abyss, sending parties to explore and to kill whatever Dark God created the Abyss.

Those who enter will gain broken bones, infections, and will bleed to death, unless they are prepared.

The Town is a nameless place where those who go into the Abyss rest in. It has everything a traveler would need. Stores, a church, a prison, a town hall, and more. Get quests to do things in the town, or the help out the people, they give many gifts and new teachings to survive. Go to stores to buy and sell, or to loot and slaughter whoever runs them. Ignore the cries from the prison, or help them with revenge. The stores run on a stock market simulation in the background, impacting if they stay around or not.

You are going to need lots of food, steel, and courage to survive. Make sure to always be strong, always be sane, and to eat before your food rots.

Outside of the town, the beasts may make your party go insane. Maintaining the sanity level for each party member is key to survival. Set up Campfires for everybody to speak their mind, search for goods, and more depending on how they are. If not, then when they go insane they will leave the party as they shout the unknown.

How much you can purchase or get loans depends on your Credit Score with the people, and how much debt you get yourself into. Buy things and you will look better for loans. Loans gives money but debt that quickly compounds. If you get into too much debt, a debt collector will come to collect a soul.

Your 6 crew members are fragile with their mounds of flesh. They begin with something unique to each one.

Kestrel - They are the Leader. The speeches they give can give great passion to the party during battle, or great despair.
Graham - A strong sense of morals, they may be a strong member.
Ceolumnd - They want to seek out the group more than themselves, allowing and begging the beasts to attack them instead of the others.
Chad - A famous person outside of the Abyss. This has lead them to develop a strong sense of pride.
Deorwine - A sickly person. They have a deadly infection that is slowly eating their insides out. They have a medication that makes them very sick, but gives them more time to survive. Anything without side effects is expensive, but maybe the town offers many different ways to remove the infection.
Oswald - Someone who has had a dark past, and had to learn to syphon energy from others at a young age. This is very effective in battle.

Yet, one of them maybe be a traitor. This is something randomized at the start of the game if someone has a darker shimmer of a thought of betrayal. Only one may be a betrayer. Be warned, you may not be able to fully trust your party members in the end.

There are 42 classes to choose from. Your party composition will impact how easy or hard it is to survive. Be warned, not every class are equal in the eyes of the people.

Knight - A common warrior, those who use the blade to seek adventure.
Archer - One great with a bow who used to serve the guard to a great wall.
Mage - Someone who knows magic, but isn't gifted in a single area of it/

Doctor - One who knows how to cure broken bones and infections quickly.
Bard - One through song and dance gives life to the party.
Druid - A man of the Earth who speaks to the earthy beasts.
Monk - A holy man who wants to seek ascendance through prayer.
Alchemist - A potion creator who used to make a living selling potions. They can create unknown potions or the strongest potions man has ever seen.

Berserker - A warrior who can go berserk, an unstable but stronger state during battle.
Sorcerer - Weak physically, as they gave up all of their years for the craft of magics.
Artificer - They can fuse holy weapons and create weapons only they may use.
Enchanter - Heavily focused on buffing and debuffing, they may also go to the Town under the fountain to give a stronger buff to the party.
Assassin - A weaker warrior who lives in the shadows for stronger attacks.
Jester - A King's joker, who knows how to buff the party, and maybe tell a joke.
Mystic - Someone who knows how to speak to roaming spirits and to use them against beasts.
Templar - A holy knight of the crusade, who goes for the Pope to slave the Darkness.
Shapeshifter - A formless being that can transform into different things to change how they are in combat.

Duelist - Someone skilled with a blade, using their passion to fuel them.
Farmer - A man who knows how to grow food. In the Tower, they are best with collecting Mushrooms.
Cook - Someone who knows how to cook. They can cook at campfires or special places which gives great joy and extra bonuses. Don't let any cooked food rot.

Juggernaut - One covered in armor head to toe. Slow but strong.
Pyromancer - A man of the limited flame. They can set up camp fires for free, and use fire magic.
Frost Mage - A man of the frost. They can freeze anything.
Stormcaller - A man of the storms. They can call lighting from any skies.
Puppet - A soul trapped in a puppet's body, it is weak, yet it is infused with magic.
Demonologist - A man who has drank enough blood to transform to speak to demons. They have many gifts, but they all require sacrifice. Christians don't like them.
Scout - A man who knows how to watch for threats, and to find things near a campfire. Uses a trusty gun to survive.
Prisoner - A man of Sin. They may steal from the party, but may get bonuses when having low Karma.
Karma Sage - They are men of the one true God. Their strength is based around strong Karma. Pagans dislike them, and they are banned from Pagan Churches.

Merchant - Merchants are men of the coin and of debt. They can accept debt for bonuses, and abuse debt for their own gain. Gamblers, they may also enter the Stock market in the town to buy stocks for the stores.
Noble - They gain strength on how well known they are and are worshipped by the people.
Monkey - Highly aggressive pets trained to fight the beasts. They are known to go Feral and attack friend and foe.
Leper - Very sick, worse at campfires to support everyone, can inflict infections onto enemies.
Villager - Nothing special. The lesser known the party is, the stronger a special attack they have is.
Beggar - Poor, they know how to beg, but not everybody will answer in kind.

Battles are fierce. The Beasts are strong and mighty. They will break your bones, make you bleed, and infect you. Sometimes bigger enemies can be found that will give a challenge. But they will all eat away at the mind, some giving trauma to those who fight them.

Major battles will have special choice based attacks, where it can reshape the battle depending on a good or bad choice. A bad one may leading to an unrecoverable death.

The Town may have a Pagan or a Christian Church when you arrive. They have many offerings, mostly after some donations. Some quests and some rewards to those who require any Holy Orbs. But alas, there may be more. The Beasts have their own statues in the main dungeon, with their own gods. Renounce humanity's Gods and give worship, and they may answer when you pray. Or destroy the false Gods. Yet, don't believe you will be allowed back in the Church once you renounce your faith. It is all up to you who you worship and call God.

All choices made can be good or bad for humanity. You may become a party that serves the best of man, or only themselves. This will impact how you are viewed by the people, and what may impact your choices in the end...

With your party formed, it will take lots of blood and sweat to survive and to get to the end. Can you survive? Can you fight the Dark God and overthrow the endless night?
