0.28.7 | Bugfixes, balance & hats



Another day, another round of magical bug hunting and balance tuning!

This patch brings a number of critical fixes, improvements to pathfinding, visual upgrades, and quality-of-life enhancements — all while laying the groundwork for some surprises.

Thank you for all your feedback — here’s what’s new:

  • Mana production no longer breaks when unlocking a technology during a drought.
  • Trial Room no longer crashes if a student with zero cycles remaining is sent in.
  • Mana Windmill production is now correctly removed when the building is destroyed.
  • Arrows turning red and doors staying closed due to environmental factors should behave properly again.
  • Type II Droughts are now back in action. Hydrate wisely.
  • The Etherfang Decoy was nearly impossible to fully charge — it's now balanced and ready for use.
  • Fixed incorrect display of professor cost-per-cycle in the inspection menu.
  • Professor cost-per-cycle no longer shows a negative sign but is displayed in red instead. Conversely, student cycle costs now show in green during admission.
  • Walls of the Golemancy Floor are no longer mysteriously missing.
  • Resolved issues with room placement above Exam Halls — you can't build directly over them anymore.
  • Recruiting Rank II (or higher) students could completely break the game — that’s now fixed.
  • Arrival Portal bug fixed: it would break permanently if two students with different ranks but identical profiles arrived consecutively.
  • Alchemy Room T2 no longer reverts to T1 after loading a save.
  • Mana storage no longer increases unintentionally after loading a game with certain unlocked techs.
  • Wiz Lair room fixed to avoid placement and blockage issues.
  • Some quests weren't showing at the start of the game — they now appear as expected.
  • Floating asset removed from destroyed Alchemy Room T1.
  • No more floating hammers in Golem Recolt Room.
  • Fixed a bug where some characters were loaded with the wrong skin for their rank after reloading a save.
  • Improved pathfinding for students exiting the portal in Lillac Grove.
  • Golem Recolt Room now reveals a little more when peeled with V.
  • Etherfang Decoy charging logic has been smoothed out.
  • Various performance and visual improvements in Crystal Rift and Lillac Grove.
  • Optimization of certain LODs (Level of Detail).
  • New animations added for History of Magic Tier 2 — enjoy the historical flair!
  • Rumor has it... the Hatters have arrived with a massive shipment of magical hats. Professors might be getting a stylish upgrade soon...
