Valor of Man Demo: Patch 0.8.1 – Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Wardens,

Version 0.8.1 is live! Hope the holidays treated you well. Thanks for the mountain of feedback during the extended demo. We read it, debated it, broke a few things, fixed them again, and kept the parts that made Valor of Man better. This update brings new mechanics and some structural improvements that push Valor of Man closer to where it really shines.

With the improved UI in place, we can now scale enemy variety properly. Valor of Man works best when you are dismantling smart opposition, not politely negotiating with damage sponges. Enemy defenses are down across the board, while enemy count and variety are up. Less padding, more pressure, more interesting fights.

Elara gets a new core mechanic. Moving now grants her +1 Strength.

Elara is meant to be a glass cannon rogue, especially as Blade Dancer. This change fully commits her to that identity. Positioning has always been central to Valor of Man as a way to challenge the action economy. Elara now weaponizes movement itself, turning smart positioning into raw damage. If you dance well, you hit harder. If you don’t, well… she is a glass cannon.

We also pushed through a major performance improvement. Yes, during the holidays. Who has time to wait for Santa? Exiting the game should now be nearly instant, because even heroes deserve a dramatic exit.

New features
- New Elara starting ability: Blade Dance - now gives +1 Strength whenever Elara moves.
- Feign Death, Keen and Bolt can now be gained through leveling up.

Features & Quality of Life Improvements:
- Performance improvements when exiting game.
- Various Vfx and UI improvements

Balance:
- Nerfed Mass Heal, now has Cooldown 3.
- Nerfed Eruption AOE attack damage.
- Nerfed Divine Prayer+. Upgrade now reduces AP cost instead of extra healing.
- Nerfed Deadeye, now deals -1 damage.
- Nerfed Mighty/+, now has 20/40% chance to Surprise enemies (down from 30/50).
- Nerfed starting event gold reward options.
- Nerfed Elara & Octavia level-up Health progression.
- Nerfed Natural Resistance extra health.
- Nerfed Ward extra health.
- Reworked Radioactive Ingot. Now gives +10 Critical Chance, but +3 Poison.
Dev Comment: These nerfs are aimed at making each hero's identity stand out more while bringing overtuned abilities in line.

- Cobra's Reaction can now fail.
- Reworked Ogre Chieftain.
- Buffed Legion Commander Eternal Cull Action.
- Minotaur's Mad Bull now scales each turn.
- Symbiote no longer buffs Minotaur, but heals instead.
- Slime's Amorphous trait can now be dispelled.
- Harlequin's Crowd Boo Reaction now applies Petrify.
- Calamity's Ash to Ash Action now turns to the closest hero before breathing deadly flames.
Dev Comment: Elites and Bosses now execute their plan with more consistency. Tough!

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug where enemy outlines would be active even after the enemy died.
- Fixed a rare bug where Mystic Snake would not bounce if the target died.
- Fixed a rare bug where Dispel didn't correctly identify if it can't remove any buffs.
- Fixed a rare bug where the Flurry Of Blows Achievement would be unlocked even if the 3rd Hit didn't connect.
- Fixed Specter Trample killing other enemies through -1 Courage.
- Fixed an issue where Silk Widow reactions didn't show grid markers.
- Fixed Tough Skin ability buff icon showing number when it shouldn't.
- Fixed Spirit Link Scroll no sound.
- Fixed an issue where Dreadwretch Trample caused -1 Courage.
- Fixed an issue where some Debuffs didn't write correct feedback when Dispelled.
