Welcome to the Wild West: Mounts Edition

In this chapter, we’re diving into one of the most important companions you’ll ever have out on the frontier.

We’re talkin’ horses. 🐎 Swift, strong, and loyal, your horse isn’t just for show — it’s your ticket to distant lands, special events, and hard-to-reach locations. While you rest, it runs — burning its own Energy so you can save yours for the real action.

Let’s break down how breeding works and what it takes to raise the finest steed west of the Rockies!

🐾 Getting in the Saddle
You’ll get your first horse once you build the Stables — your one-stop spot for managing up to 8 horses. Here, you can swap mounts, let them rest to regain Energy, feed them, and start breeding new foals.

New horses come from two places: either purchased from Arabella Gallopridge in Silverton or bred right at home. Unlike pets, you can’t tame a wild stallion — every steed must be earned.

Each horse comes with its own stats: Energy (used for travel), Speed (how fast it gets there), and Endurance (how far it can go without tiring). Choose wisely, partner.
🐴 Horse Stats & How to Restore Energy
Every horse in Westland Survival has three key stats: Energy, Speed, and Endurance.

Horse Energy is your steed’s stamina — it fuels travel across the global map, whether you’re riding solo or hauling a Wagon. Once it runs dry, you’ll have to continue on foot, leading your tired companion by the reins. But don’t worry — each horse has its own Energy pool. Swap a tired one for a fresh mount back at the Ranch and keep going!

Horses regain Energy in two ways:

Stable Recovery: Leave a horse at the Ranch and make sure the Feeder’s stocked. Horses can eat any crops, but Horse Feed made from Oats and Corn works best.

Horse Sugar Treats: Instantly refills Energy — same as before, but now with a new name.

Speed affects how fast Energy drains while riding, and Endurance determines Energy use when pulling a Wagon. Balance your mount’s stats with your mission — and you’ll go far.
🧬 Perks That Make a Difference
Beyond stats, every horse comes with at least one innate perk — a unique trait that gives it an edge. The rarest steeds can even roll two!

Here’s what your horse might be packing:

 • Energetic – Higher max Energy
 • Increased Speed / Endurance – Boosts to travel efficiency
 • Thrifty – Eats less from the Feeder
 • Fast Metabolism – Restores Energy faster in the Stable
 • Sweet Tooth – Gets more Energy from Sugar Treats
 • Cargo Carrier – Extra inventory slots (very rare!)

Just like pets, perk rarity is independent of the horse’s tier — even a common mount might surprise you with something special.
🎠 Breeds & Types: Find Your Perfect Horse
Breeding is your ticket to building a powerful herd — with a chance at rare foals, flashy coats, and better stats. But it’s not just about pairing up any two horses.

You can only breed horses of the same type (Riding or Draft), but their breeds can differ — the foal inherits one of the parents’. Coat color usually follows suit, though new variations may appear if both breeds allow it.

For best results, pair horses of the same tier and rarity — it boosts the odds of stronger offspring. Breeding won’t work without food in the Feeder, and once born, foals need proper feeding to grow into adults. They can’t travel or be sold until they mature.

Each horse has a limited number of breedings, determined by its Fertility stat. It can be replenished with Equine Elixir, but that’s a rare find, available only in the in-game shop.

Raise them right — and you just might raise a legend.

Welcome to the Wild West: Pets Edition

Westland Survival is packed with exciting systems — from base building and exploration to shootouts and survival. This post marks the start of a new series, Welcome to the Wild West, shining a light on the game’s most iconic features.
First up: pets. Loyal companions, fierce defenders, or just adorable mischief-makers — they’re an essential part of life on the Ranch. Let’s take a closer look at how they work!

🐾 Pets in Westland Survival — Tame, Train, and Breed
In Westland Survival, wild animals can become trusted allies. Once tamed, they’ll follow you, fight for you, and grow stronger with every adventure.

To start your pet journey, you’ll need to build a Pet House and a Bait Workbench. Each species prefers a specific bait — craft it, venture into the wild, and carefully lure the animal back to your Ranch. Feed your new companion, give it time to adapt, and you’ll soon gain a loyal friend.

🏡 The Pet House
The Pet House is your pets’ home base. It lets you care for multiple animals, heal them after battles, and feed them through a shared Feeder.

Once upgraded to level two, it also unlocks breeding — allowing you to raise the next generation of companions.

🧬 Breeding System
Breeding is a powerful feature available in the full version of the game. Combine two pets of the same species and different genders to create an offspring.

Newborn pets inherit looks and perks from their parents, and may even surpass them early in life. Some animals carry the Strong Genes trait, which guarantees that the offspring inherits the color and strength of the more powerful parent.

🧠 Perks & Stats
Pets have combat abilities that make a real difference. Some perks trigger in battle — like bleed, slow, or bonus damage. Others grant permanent bonuses: more health, faster movement, or increased healing.

As your pet gains experience, it levels up — unlocking more potential and making every fight a step toward strength.

🍖 Baits and Unlocking New Species
Some species require a specific bait. By bringing pets to Vernon in the Nature Park, you’ll earn knowledge points and unlock new species.

Your progress is tracked in the Encyclopedia. The most powerful species — like alligators — become available only after you’ve mastered others.

🐶 Decorative Ranch Pets
Not all pets are fighters. Some — like cats, corgis, or even turkeys — are purely decorative. You can buy them from a traveling merchant or unlock them during special events.

Build a Pet Bed to let your new friend wander around the Ranch and keep you company.
