Welcome to the Wild West: Pets Edition

Westland Survival is packed with exciting systems — from base building and exploration to shootouts and survival. This post marks the start of a new series, Welcome to the Wild West, shining a light on the game’s most iconic features.
First up: pets. Loyal companions, fierce defenders, or just adorable mischief-makers — they’re an essential part of life on the Ranch. Let’s take a closer look at how they work!
🐾 Pets in Westland Survival — Tame, Train, and Breed
In Westland Survival, wild animals can become trusted allies. Once tamed, they’ll follow you, fight for you, and grow stronger with every adventure.

To start your pet journey, you’ll need to build a Pet House and a Bait Workbench. Each species prefers a specific bait — craft it, venture into the wild, and carefully lure the animal back to your Ranch. Feed your new companion, give it time to adapt, and you’ll soon gain a loyal friend.
🏡 The Pet House
The Pet House is your pets’ home base. It lets you care for multiple animals, heal them after battles, and feed them through a shared Feeder.

Once upgraded to level two, it also unlocks breeding — allowing you to raise the next generation of companions.
🧬 Breeding System
Breeding is a powerful feature available in the full version of the game. Combine two pets of the same species and different genders to create an offspring.

Newborn pets inherit looks and perks from their parents, and may even surpass them early in life. Some animals carry the Strong Genes trait, which guarantees that the offspring inherits the color and strength of the more powerful parent.
🧠 Perks & Stats
Pets have combat abilities that make a real difference. Some perks trigger in battle — like bleed, slow, or bonus damage. Others grant permanent bonuses: more health, faster movement, or increased healing.

As your pet gains experience, it levels up — unlocking more potential and making every fight a step toward strength.
🍖 Baits and Unlocking New Species
Some species require a specific bait. By bringing pets to Vernon in the Nature Park, you’ll earn knowledge points and unlock new species.

Your progress is tracked in the Encyclopedia. The most powerful species — like alligators — become available only after you’ve mastered others.
🐶 Decorative Ranch Pets
Not all pets are fighters. Some — like cats, corgis, or even turkeys — are purely decorative. You can buy them from a traveling merchant or unlock them during special events.

Build a Pet Bed to let your new friend wander around the Ranch and keep you company.
