[p]2025 is drawing to a close, we're entering the holiday season! As things wind down at Midgar for the winter break, we want to thank you all for being part of the development journey for Edge of Memories.[/p][p]Christmas is a good time to look back on the journey so far. For Edge of Memories, that journey is only just beginning. We revealed the game earlier this year as the follow-up to our studio’s debut title, Edge of Eternity. [/p][p]With that, came the opportunity to take on several exciting new challenges. We've switched engines, changed up the art style, and implemented a brand new action combat system from the ground up. It's been a year of learning, experimentation, and growth. And we can't wait to share more as we go into 2026.[/p][p]For now, we'll be signing off for winter break. But before we go, we want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holidays, and a fantastic start to the new year. Let's dive into another part of the music of Edge of Memories. Today, we'll be revealing our first character theme, for our main heroine, Eline. As we discussed during our blog on the Music of Edge of Memories, the music is much more dynamic, adjusting whether you're in combat or exploring Avaris.

In a similar theme, Eline's Journey serves as both Eline's theme, but also the main plains theme. In a way, you can think of this song as Eline's vision of the world.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Composer: Cédric Menendez

[p]In Edge of Memories, when you arrive in a new area, you hear the area theme, a song or a dynamic orchestral theme. Then, after a few moments of silence, a smooth theme derived from the first one plays. It is calm and designed for long exploration, like what you can hear in games like Breath of the Wild for example.[/p][p]For Eline's Journey, the first part is about the environment (as I discussed above), the second is about Eline's inner fragility, and the last part is about her power and strength, weighed up against the fate of the fate of the world.[/p]

[p]The Corrosion continues to spread it's tendrils across Avaris, twisting those it comes into contact with into hideous abominations, scarring the landscape and forcing people into a nomadic lifestyle.

Many live out their days waiting for the end. Finding solace in these last moments while doing their best to avoid the ever more hostile landscape.

We're still heads down in the development process, but a couple of members of the team went to Cologne, Germany to attend Gamescom.
