Changelog 2024-07-29 - Japanese available and a playtest on Steam

Dear players,

We are very excited to announce that Dawnmaker will be available in Japanese on its release day, July 31st! It will come alongside the English and French translations. Japanese is already available in the demo: play it now. ;)

We've also just shipped one last update before the release, with a big gameplay change, shiny new frames for the cards, bug fixes and some minor balancing on the content. And we're using this opportunity to start a playtest of the full game, open to anyone and everyone starting… now! The playtest will be open for about 24 hours, so if you want to give it a go before the release, and help us make sure there are no bugs in the game, now is your time.

To playtest the game, go to the store page of Dawnmaker, and click "Request access" in the playtest box. That's it, you'll then get to play the game as much as you like for the next 24 hours. Let us know what you think about the game here, in our Discord server or by pressing F8 anywhere in the game!

Now, on to the full changelog, and we'll see you again in 2 days for the full release of Dawnmaker. :)

  • Locked some buildings. They cannot appear in the building draft until you have found them in a ruin or bought them in the airship.

  • Added new frames for all the cards! So shiny!
  • Added an icon next to the "gain" keyword on all buildings that have it.
  • Made it harder to lose in the tutorial.
  • Showed the Luminoil output preview on the Abundant reaping card.
  • [bug] Building tooltips cannot appear outside of the screen anymore.
  • [bug] Disabled cards zooming when hover while playing a building.
  • [bug] Fixed the map becoming misplaced when zooming out too much.

Dawnmaker will be available for purchase on Steam and itch.io on July 31st! Yes, that's in less than a month! You will be able to buy the game from 04:00 PM UTC / 09:00 AM PT.

We will sell the game for $9.99 / 9,75€ / £8.50. Make sure you've added the game to your wishlist!

Changelog 2024-07-02 - Maps and Collection

What's up players?

We are happy to bring you a new update of Dawnmaker's demo, this time containing 2 new features and a bunch of balance changes. The big features this time are Maps — each region has its own, unique landscape with mountains, lakes and rivers — and Collection — keep track of the buildings you have unlocked throughout your games.

  • Added mountain, lake, river and sea tiles on the maps. They cannot be constructed on. Each region has its own map.
  • Added a Collection view, where you can see all the buildings you've unlocked in the game. Gotta catch 'em all!

World Map Update - New Demo for Steam Next Fest

Dear players,

We are very excited to release a new version of Dawnmaker's demo today! Come and get a glimpse of the World Map feature, where you can travel the lost continent of Heksiga and repel the Smog, region by region. You'll also get to improve your starting deck, roster and resources in the new Airship menu. More replayability, more choices, more strategy… We hope you'll like it!



Today's other big news is that we'll be participating in Steam Next Fest starting on Monday. Be sure to give the demo another try, and share it with your friends, to help us get the word out! We're a small team of 2 people, so everything you can do to help us show Dawnmaker around has a huge impact for us.

  • Added a shortened version of the World Map (only 2 regions available). Travel from region to region, gain gold, and spend it in the Airship market to improve your starting deck, starting roster and starting resources.
  • Added a new type of vestige: shipwrecks. Explore them and find out what they do! 🙂

  • Added an interface to see the content of your current deck, full deck, starting deck and discard, while in game (click on the deck icon or discard pile).
  • Improved controls to allow playing a building by clicking it then clicking the tile (along with dragging and dropping it on the tile).

Changelog 2024-05-17 - Sound settings

Dear players,

Today we are releasing a fairly small update, but containing a much-requested feature: sound effects volume setting! But there are a few quality of life improvements as well, details follow. Hope you enjoy this new version of Dawnmaker!

Not included in the demo, we are making good progress on the meta-progression of the game, the feature is nearly complete and we are doing playtests with players in our discord and newsletter. If you’re interested to be included in our next playtests, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter!

  • Lighthouses now repel the Smog when they are repaired, allowing for a little bit more space.


[h2]Quality of life[/h2]

  • Allow setting the volume of sound effects in settings.
  • Save sound settings between sessions.
  • Make the buildings gained FX faster when there are a lot of them.
  • Allow cancelling playing a card or a building with right-click.
  • Improve showing cards in hand when there are many of them (now supports up to about 15 cards in hand).
  • Improve the tutorial by adding some new tooltips to explain the context of the game, the turn structure, and market controls.
