Exploration Log #1: Further and Deeper

Hello, fellow Scavengers!

This is your Relay Officer from Scavenger T.O.M.
Today, I want to share a key part of our development journey — a topic that means everything to survivors like us, who live underground while gazing up at the ruins above: growth.

Exploring the surface is no simple task.
It’s a suffocating wasteland filled with unpredictable dangers and forgotten relics.
To claim anything from it, we need to be ready. And to be ready, we must grow — continuously and relentlessly.

The only way to strengthen our underground life is to push further into the surface and secure even more valuable resources.
So today, I’d like to introduce some of the core facilities currently in development that are key to that growth.

(Please note: all content is still under development and may change in the final version.)

[Key Facilities in T.O.M’s Base]

🔋 Charger – Time is Survival
The amount of time T.O.M. can stay on the surface is determined by the charger.
At first, you might not feel its importance—but once you try to go farther, you’ll understand: a better charger means longer expeditions.
We’re designing a system where players can upgrade the charger’s tier using scavenged items, and each upgrade will have a distinct visual transformation to reflect your progress.

📦 Storage Box – Every Expedition Ends in Storage
From structural debris to rare tech fragments and useful parts—
Everything you bring back from the surface ends up in your storage box.
But space is always limited. That’s why upgrades are essential.
We’ve currently planned up to Tier 3, but future expansions are definitely on the roadmap.

📡 Antenna – Ears Toward the Unknown
Living underground means we can't see the surface. Instead, we rely on signals.
Early antennas could barely pick up nearby ruins, but with high-performance satellite receivers, we can now detect farther, wider zones.
New resources, new threats, new possibilities — they all begin with this antenna.

These facility upgrades aren’t just mechanical improvements.
They’re proof that we are adapting to this ruined world.
Each new piece of gear brings us one step closer to reclaiming the surface.

🧭 “If you want to go farther, you have to grow first.”
This is the unspoken law of Scavenger T.O.M, and the truth every survivor lives by.

If you have any thoughts or ideas, drop them in the comments —
Your feedback helps make this world stronger.

We'll send another signal soon.

Exploration Log #0: Greetings from Underground

Hello, scavengers!
This is your Relay Officer from the Scavenger T.O.M team.
From now on, I’ll be sharing updates from both the surface and underground, serving as a small but steady line of communication between the dev team and you, the community.

Since the game is still in development, some elements you see today may change over time.
But we’d love to build this world with you, together—step by step.
There will be moments when we need your input or ideas, so we truly appreciate your interest and support!

🔧 A World Above, Unlivable. Survival Below

The story of Scavenger T.O.M begins in a world that has collapsed for unknown reasons—leaving behind nothing but contamination and desolation.
The surface is no longer a place where humans can live. Life itself seems to have vanished.

And yet, deep underground, a few survivors continue to cling to life.

Among them is a once-humble household robot from the peaceful days of the past.
Now, it's known as “T.O.M”—the only being capable of exploring what remains above.

You, scavenger, will take the role of one of these survivors.
From your hidden refuge below, you’ll remotely operate T.O.M to scavenge the ruins and seek out what’s needed to survive.

Today, we’re sharing a first in-game look at our playable survivor character—a curly-haired wanderer with grit and heart.

🖼️ On the left: their everyday underground attire.
🧪 On the right: a hazmat suit design, intended for exploration... maybe.
We're still figuring out how far you’ll be able to go with it 😆

🖥️ Who or What is T.O.M?

T.O.M’s design was inspired by 1990s personal computer monitors.
Yes, it even has a floppy disk drive! (Does it work? Honestly, no one’s sure 😮)

A headlamp is built into the top, hidden until the moment it clicks open when needed.
After lying dormant in an underground storeroom for years, it finally came face-to-face with a survivor—and was reawakened.

T.O.M can move, detach and reattach its arms to grab objects, and even drag heavy loads using a tethered cable system.
It’s more than a machine. T.O.M is a lifeline—a partner that makes survival above possible

[In a world that has stopped, only one thing moves: T.O.M]

🔎 What’s Next?

This is just the beginning.
Through this log and future posts, we’ll be sharing bits of our design process and the story we’re crafting—little by little.

The game is still in development—concepts, art, and systems are all evolving.
That’s why we want to be transparent and bring you into the process, even the messy parts.
Sometimes we’ll need your thoughts, your critiques, your ideas.

Got a question or something you’d like to share? Drop it in the comments!
We believe even the smallest conversations will help shape Scavenger T.O.M into a richer, more meaningful world.

Until the next signal,
thank you for reading.

This number gives us tremendous strength and motivation.
Beyond the desolate surface, hope is beginning to bloom even in the place where we now reside.
We sincerely thank you.

To meet your expectations, we’re focusing even harder on development.
Very soon, we’ll also be releasing a Dev Log sharing our progress behind the scenes — please look forward to it!

If you haven’t added us to your wishlist yet...
Rumor has it that T.O.M dropped to his knees and cried during a surface expedition.
Adding us to your wishlist helps recharge T.O.M’s battery! 🔋
